@Nabil The first one had a predominantly electronic/synth based soundtrack which really added to the futuristic vibe. The problem with 2 and 3 is that they chose to have a Hollywood orchestral soundtrack which just wasn't as effective at creating an atmosphere. They just sounded like standard AAA video game soundtracks, the sort of thing you'd hear on Halo or something. It's just not that original. ME1 did have some orchestral music too, but there was a decent variety of non orchestral music too. Give me an electronic, techno banger like Virmire Ride any day
@@ZanzibarBreeze ME2 was a mixture of both. ME3 was mostly orchestral. Both soundtracks are still great but I agree, the sequels lost the wonderful tone and atmosphere of the first game.
@@ZanzibarBreeze it mirrors the game's design directions. me1 was supposed to be no mans sky with auto generated worlds and all, exploration game but they couldnt do it with 2007 tech (still cant lol) so they cut it down to an usual bioware rpg in baldurs gate fashion. then it was critically acclaimed so they decided to go full on roleplay and space opera and you know the rest
I remember being stuck in a traffic jam in my town. I decided to turn this track on so I could take a shortcut by driving on the walls and roofs of buildings.
I remember the first time I played Mass Effect 2 and did Grunt's loyalty mission. As soon as I saw the thresher maw, I thought "ILLUSIVE MAN! WHERE IS MY MAKO?"
As much as I loved this song in ME1, for me its most memorable moment came early in ME2, when I was exploring the Normandy SR-2. It had been over a year since I played ME1. Entering my captain's cabin for the first time, I was pleased to discover the assortment of mementos from my past life. A slight feeling of bittersweet regret for days gone by passed through me as I recalled Ilos, Noveria, and Virmire. Then, I found the stereo system, and this song started blasting out of it. Even though I was still standing in my cabin in deep space, I felt as though I was charging through the tropical shallows of Virmire in my trusty Mako, rushing into danger to save the galaxy. These are the moments of real immersion that, at least for me, makes Mass Effect one of the best game trilogies of all time.
Hands down one of the best soundtracks in the series! The pace is perfect and the atmosphere just fits so well with it that you can jam to it for hours...literally
Epic music! Когда я услышал этот трек на Вермайре, то сразу подумал что здесь будет развязка игры, сильный трек! В свое время ставил на телефон! Этот лучший трек из Mass Effect!
Great games come with a soul not just shiny graphics, that's what people don't grasp. It may not have the best graphics or gameplay but ME1 is Legendary
The Mako handled like a drunk rhino, Threshers were way too luck-based, and the maps were just too much in the vertical cliff department... ... but I'd be lying if I said that this music isn't awesome and that exploring wasn't a fun thing to do; it really was an immersive element of the game that I enjoyed for the most part in spite of the problems with the Mako planetary exploring segments.
Luke Danger I totally agree with the maps. The mako however isn't too bad actually in my opinion... still I once managed to drive it off the "cliff" on Feros...*sigh*
+Luke Danger I like how messed up the terrain was in ME1. There were places where you really had to examine the terrain and find a way through. It felt realistic to me. I will agree that controlling the Mako is difficult to say the least!
+Luke Danger I didn't mind the Mako except for the planets covered in mountains. Fucking infuriating! id get stuck, mash buttons and end up just bouncing down the mountain like a damn pinball, good times lol
It's like Halo, but where as Halo mixed the military and sense of hope and survival gung-ho sounds with the sci-fi, this song feels like it leans more into the sci-fi by emphasizing more on the techno beats. It's awesome, unique and fitting.
I had a random memory flash of this song playing when I woke up today, very random and so lovely, I had to find out what it was called. Thank you for the share, really brings back lovely memories. Nostalgia is real because it's feelings, they're the most genuine Human things in this Universe.
I love this song so much,I have important it in GTA 5 and driving on the highway :) And I love Wrex, best character of Mass effect 1,2-3 if you keep him alive
This theme will always remind me of how many credits I put into Wrex when i played this as a kid only to lose him because I only followed the main missions and didn´t figure out how to always get Paragorn dialogue options and how I literally dominated Saren only to realise that you can´t beat him there XD And I never really figured out the ablities and squad commands, since I was playing on the Xbox 360, so I was kind of playing on a self-made hard mode without even realising it
Too bad the new Mako in Andromeda won't have weapons. But it makes sense. You can use both hands to drive, or you can use them to aim and shoot. You either needed to make the gun forward facing only, which sacrifices tactical ability, make it like a WW2 tank that had to stop to fire, or have the difficult controls we saw in ME1. Guess they went with the best choice possible.
ARCblooper the dual "joystick" controls on the X-box make it easier to drive and shoot, especially if you'd configured control input for "Russian tank mode". That isn't quite repeatable on a mouse and keyboard. If you look at older tank sims, they had you switch between driver and gunner, making the driver follow a predetermined route while you aimed and fired.
@@Ryder62hun It’s still Virmire ride but they changed it. When you first start the level, the music doesn’t have the techno drum beat until much later in the song. Takes a lot away from what makes this soundtrack so cool.
Eh... isn't the real name "Vampire Ride"? I damn LOVE this theme. I should get an USB drive for my car and play this when driving, WINDOWS OPEN! Such badassery.

Completely agree. Just wish they could have figured out a way to include the Mako at least once or twice in the 2nd & 3rd games
