Hi I'm from Mexico and the answer to your question would be yes and no, it's an old tradition that some families still do but in the modern day most couples and their families don't do that anymore they decide to split the cost of the wedding or they choose to designate what we call padrinos, who usually end up being members of our families or closest friends and they take charge of things like the veil, the band, drinks, rings, etc. Sorry for my bad english i'm still learning;(

When I was 15 I dated an 18-year-old. Two months into our relationship his mom (German) called my mom (Austrian), basically hyperventilating because I wanted to sleep at their place. My mom couldn't stop laughing and just told her that anything we wanted to do we'd do anyway. We wouldn't need a sleepover for that. And how right she was. I've always loved her for telling it like it is.
Yes that is just Christian and Religious/Religion. Yes Europe most are Christians but if you are a Conservative Christian no matter where you live here in U.S., Mexico ect. Conservative Christians do not want sleep overs tell married
This video is spot on. I am an American and my wife is Mexican. 1. The being late has been the biggest culture clash between us. My wife is rarely on time for anything lol. I grew up with my family having a pretty strict schedule and usually even being a few minutes early. Not her haha... It's funny when we show up to parties with my family we are always late and when we show up at parties with her family we are always early (even though it's late in my mind). If a party starts at 5 that means people start showing up at 6 or 7 and people show up at random times, but the parties last sooo long. 2a. Families are HUGE! My Suegra has about 10 siblings. Each of the Tios and Tias have several children too so there's so many Tios/Tias and primos. Compared to my family where my mother had 2 siblings and my father only had 1. The families are so huge but they are way closer than my small family. 2b. When you show up to an event with family, you greet everyone in the room, and I mean EVERYONE! lol... the complete opposite for me. It's usually a "Hey how are you" and that's it. Nope not the same you greet everyone with usually a hand shake/hug and a kiss on the cheek. 2c. When the Tios offer you a shot of tequila get ready because you're in for a long night because they're going to keep coming and coming. Don't worry midnight tacos are going to soak some of it up lol. 3. The families are huge but man do they make you feel welcome. They will share everything with you and even go without things by offering it to you first. 4. When it comes to food I hope you like tamales and carne asada because when it's the holidays you aren't eating turkey and ham, it's tamale after tamale. When you go to a cookout it's carne asada. 5. When it's your birthday the cake is always a tres leche cake and expect to get your face pushed into it lol. I was so confused when I first heard Morida! Morida! Morida! 6. You'll learn to love spicy food, even candy! lol 7. For Christmas growing up we always were supposed to go to bed early and wake up super early and open gifts on Christmas morning. Well not anymore we celebrate late into the night and open gifts on Christmas Eve.
I am just surprised and amazed that all the above points is so shockingly similar to Indian culture as well!! Mexicans are culturally very similar to us Indians, it seems even when we r literally living other side of the 🌏. 😅

What? I am dumbfounded by the comments. I'm Mexican living in Spain I've never have those problems. But also I live in an apartment with paper walls, so no in a million years I would have sex in my house while the family is there.
...mi casa no es un motel... being a mother now, it makes sense. We dont know how many boyfriends you are going to have, so, it is very inapropiate for an unmarried couple to sleep in the same room in their parents home. It isn't like it's not going to happen, but at least you should have some discretion.
It makes me soo happy to see a Mexican and German couple. My mom is from Mexico City and my dad is from a small town close to Stuttgart. You guys are what I picture my parents were like when they were younger.
@Zerodovah Sorry, that's how it is: the Catholic Church... and overprotective parents (all Latin American parents, really). It's very simple: you love your daughter, she is very young, she found this nice young man but .... how serious is he or his feelings towards her? Is he thinking seriously about it, with respect, or just trying to get laid, no hard feelings ?? Will he be respectful enough to start a family and try yo make her happy for the rest of her life, raising the children with love, or is he thinking she's OK for the remainder of the month? In that case, NO WAY, ONLY OVER MY DEAD BODY. And unfortunately in the media the USA and Europe are represented as nonconservative, loose societies with zero individual values and no respect or attachment to the family. So.... the attitude seems quite logical to me (I'm Peruvian, of course).
I feel so identify with you guys. I’m Mexican, my boyfriend is Dutch. But it is true, culturally speaking, sometimes we struggle understand each other. But I like to see you guys, give me hope! 💓

I'm from south east asia but I feel like mexican culture is quite similar as mine. What we understand as love and how we show our love are similar. I am married to a german guy and I can relate to your problems guys :D
If you feel the same problems, is because Spanish invasion, they spread their culture in South Asia and also Latin America, that's why in Philippines names are very similar to latino names.
I agree they are very similar. When I see Thailand Indonesia and Philippines. I was like wow it reminds me so much of my own culture. So I understood y'all in a deeper level.
As someone in an intercultural relationship (US +Chile), I really loved this cute video. It's fun to now what's similar and what is different between what you share and our experiences.
My husband is Mexican and yes I had to learn spanish. When his mom met me she was so serious, but when it was time to eat she offered me a buuunch of food. Oh my goodness I've never been so stuffed!! I don't know about being jealous. One of my brothers also married a Mexican girl. She never showed jealousy, but because she's a cutie there will usually be at least one guy staring at her. My brother will always end up being the one staring the other guy down or blocking her from the stares of other men.
I'm from the USA and when I moved to Guadalajara I thought a guy liked me because he would lay his head on my shoulder 😂 most Mexicans are very touchy and I STILL have no idea how Mexican men flirt even thought I have a Mexican boyfriend
Find the guy that is trying to be funny with you or tries to make you laugh with something he says or does, thats like the most typical way, to make the woman laugh. Also stuff like giving you gifts for no particular reason, like say you work together and he brings you some food he picked up, and plays it off like he just did it on whim. Or doesnt plays it out and straight it up tells you he bought it for you.
We flirt by showing you a sort of loyalty and special attention through our gestures and of course by posturing like the proverbial peacock. It is not uncommon for menacing looking dudes to suddenly become bashful and fumbling in front of the girl they like or if they are bold they will try to grandstand to get your attention. Also, Mexican guys (in Mexico only - not counting Mexicans raised in the U.S.) will take a slow burning approach to flirting. They are not going to immediately try to have sex with you, we wanna take it slow, the slang for it is "sweaty hand" _De Maninta Sudada._ That means the holding hands phase which you will be doing to the point where your hands become sweaty from holding each other. There will be a ton of talking and light touching as a guy tries his luck with overlapping personal spaces. Mexican guys are very tactile, we love to feel, grab, touch, caress, while talking and getting to know a girl. The next thing a guy who is serious about you will try to do is make a good impression with your social circle, like your parents, family, and friends and that signals the formal introduction from which he is officially your boyfriend. My hypothesis as to why we are not as thirsty for sex as European and U.S. men is because since we are so tactile with women we are already receiving physical affection from a woman so we do not feel this insane neediness for sex. Holding a girl for an afternoon and talking to her can hold us over for a very long time. Even in this interview notice how physically affectionate she is to him, notice all the little random touching and feeling she does to him. I think the reason the men in much of the rest of the world are so needy for sex is because they are literally starved for physical affection. This is only my hypothesis and keep in mind not all Mexican guys are the same, some are just as sex crazed as any U.S. guy and will turn on the charms to try to get with a girl just for a hookup.
When he said that the mexicans are very touchy...dude, every country of Latinamerica is like that, im from Chile and I can say that latinamericans are touchy and emocionals (in every form, love or angry)
Since I started watching your videos, I have improved my English. Thank u guys, you’r the best! I hope you grow more in your TH-cam channel. Saludos desde EL SALVADOR 🇸🇻 💗
My lovely friends "touchy" is emotionally delicate or sensitive. In this context "I" would say "casually physical" or just "physical" or "friendly". Thank you for sharing your beautiful love with us. When I watch you I feel very happy.
That's what "touchy" means to "Americans," not to Germans, Mexicans, etc. If you're Mexican born in the U.S. you're understanding both sides of the meaning.
The last struggle is not only in small cities as San Luis Potosí. I'm living in Mexico City and when my boyfriend came... He had to rent an Airbnb to stay. Or if he stays at The house, he's sleeping at the couch
Thank you for this video. I am an American woman (English father, though) and I've been with my Mexican boyfriend for close to 8 months now. It's the most amazing relationship I've ever had, however it's been really hard for me when we argue / when he gets mad (as he shows a lot of emotion)... and I then I sometimes break down. 8 minutes into the video I felt almost as if I want to cry because I feel understood, way less alone, and that I am understanding him better. It's been a learning curve for me to detach from his big emotions and to not take it personally-- remember that it's the way he expresses. And, the plus side (ALL THE FREAKING LOVE) makes up for it in the end. :) We're a newer relationship, so we have much to work on (ourselves mainly ;) however your TH-cam channel is giving me so much inspiration and hope. THANK YOU AGAIN, from the bottom of my heart

And spaniard too😂😂

That advice is GOLD right there "Just say 'Hi' and pretend you know everybody" :)
Morida! Morida!
6. You'll learn to love spicy food, even candy! lol
7. For Christmas growing up we always were supposed to go to bed early and wake up super early and open gifts on Christmas morning. Well not anymore we celebrate late into the night and open gifts on Christmas Eve.
Point No. 1 and 2b work for Argentina too 😅
Haha this made me laugh because it’s so true!

I am just surprised and amazed that all the above points is so shockingly similar to Indian culture as well!! Mexicans are culturally very similar to us Indians, it seems even when we r literally living other side of the 🌏. 😅
Omg too funny but True!!! I’m Mexican n my husband is American...he has 1 sibling n I have 9. 😆🤣. .. n yes MORDIDA!! 🥳

@Itzel Bastian 🤣

You gotta fight for your right gurl

My husband is Mexican and yes I had to learn spanish. When his mom met me she was so serious, but when it was time to eat she offered me a buuunch of food. Oh my goodness I've never been so stuffed!! I don't know about being jealous. One of my brothers also married a Mexican girl. She never showed jealousy, but because she's a cutie there will usually be at least one guy staring at her. My brother will always end up being the one staring the other guy down or blocking her from the stares of other men.
I love the chemistry between you two. Me as a Mexican can relate to all these thing you said...minus the toilet paper 😂😂
I'm from the USA and when I moved to Guadalajara I thought a guy liked me because he would lay his head on my shoulder 😂 most Mexicans are very touchy and I STILL have no idea how Mexican men flirt even thought I have a Mexican boyfriend
Lots of eye contact, laughs, lots of small gifts, hugs (around your waist) those are common ways Mexican guys flirt.
Uh?
When he said that the mexicans are very touchy...dude, every country of Latinamerica is like that, im from Chile and I can say that latinamericans are touchy and emocionals (in every form, love or angry)
