    Wish someone would do these tips out of sorts of bunkers the majority of us have to deal with. Rock hard with no sand!

    Awww, Burghill Valley; how I miss that place. Hopefully back there soon. I think I've spent more time in that 8th bunker than in the bar. And I've spent a lot of time in the bar. Thanks Stuart, great video.

      Agreed Chris, missing being out there a lot. Hopefully we’ll be back real soon. 👍

    Really clear. Thanks very much. I personally find a downhill lie on the far side of the bunker by far the most difficult lie situation. Very often the ball hits the front lip and does not get out

      Your welcome David, yeah that’s a stinker. I did cover that one in an episode called “How to play BAD bunker lies”. Thanks for watching. 🙏

    Really good lesson Stuart , first thing I need to do when we can play again is spend some time practicing those shots and not panicking.

      Thanks Malcolm, i think these are the top few basics to better bunker play.At the end of the day you need to work out how many bunkers you go in and structure your practice time accordingly. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching

    Stu I used to be good at bunker shots but my current course doesn't have any! These are GREAT tips!

      Oh I see, I’ve played a few good courses with no bunkers. Always good to be prepared. 👍👍

    Good stuff! I usually try to blast it out of the bunker with very variable results. This seems like a great way to regain some control over the ball. Thanks for the tips.

    • @cartersmithgolf
      @cartersmithgolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that blast shot also can have a lot of consequences when it goes wrong too (maybe say on a bare lie or you catch it a little thin etc). The more control you have with your club the better. Thanks for watching. 🙏👍

      @@cartersmithgolf Cheers for the reply. Can I suggest a title for an upcoming video; "Is taking divots a bit of a wank?" . The only time I take a divot is when I duff a shot. My best shots are clean, yet I see all you pro players taking divots. What's the story with divots? Do you need to take a divot to make a good shot? Are there famous pro players that don't take divots? Am I less of a player because I leave the fairway relatively unmolested? Teach me!

      No problems I’ll do a video on it but in the meantime it’s a byproduct of your weight shifting forward at impact and the angle of attack that is incurred in doing this. If you have a swing of yours on camera (hitting a shot) I can have a quick look for you. 👍👍

    I just can't get myself to play a proper bunker shot but I've developed a kind of chunky hack with a 50° wedge that usually gets it out and running.

      Often the best policy. Get it out and move on. 👍

    Some nice swings there Stu.
    I used to be ok out of bunkers but the last few seasons I feel to have gotten really poor 😩
    Definitely the issue is concentrating on my game...clearly I've not been practising my bunker play enough, only myself to blame😡

      @cartersmithgolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it’s been tough to get our heads into bunker play as we haven’t been allowed in them for a wile.

      @@cartersmithgolf Definitely 😉 although I would differ from your square on approach as I've always opened up the body with the club face square to the intended target, maybe that's the way I learned 👍
