  • The Sheraton Cebu Mactan resort is the Marriott’s first luxury resort in the Philippines offering travelers elegant beachfront accommodation. Cebu’s newest 5-star luxury resort boasts 2 gorgeous infinity swimming pools that overlook the beach. Other key features of the resort include a stylish beachfront area, a cave bar, gym and spa. There restaurant serves up some great buffets as well as a la carte.
    Looking at the rates at the Sheraton Cebu, they were offering an introduction promo as well as advance purchase rates. They are also on 3rd party sites like Agoda. I look at both the King Ocean View room and the Junior Suite.
    If you are looking for an upmarket place to stay in Mactan Island this is worth considering. One of the best new luxury resorts in Mactan.

    Mactan Island is a rock island so it doesnt have the natural white sand beach like Bantayan, Moalboal, Malapascua etc. When the Cebu airport was transferred from Cebu mainland to Mactan, businessmen were quick to turn Mactan into a leisure destination taking advantage of its close proximity to the sea setting up hotels and resorts to cater to cebu city residents wanting to escape the hassle and bustle of the city and to non-cebu tourists on vacation. Most of these hotels and resorts got its white sand beaches from nearby islands that are already part of Bohol.

      I remember once someone from Malapascua telling me that Mactan "illegally" stole sand for the resorts from neighboring islands!

    @Rob...I think this is the first property to open in Cebu under Marriott International since its exit in 2018 when Ayala terminated its contract with the company by closing Marriott Hotel Cebu. Three more Marriott properties in Cebu are now in different stages of completion: Fairfield by Marriott in Mandaue City, Fairfield by Marriott in Mactan (next to Mactan Marina Mall) and Autograph Collection (next to Sheraton Mactan) which will form part of Aruga Resort & Residences by Rockwell. The construction of the fourth Marriott property in Cebu, Courtyard by Marriott Cebu City, is still not started until now since the announcement in 2018. Covid-19 certainly has stalled this project.

    • @FindingParadise
      @FindingParadise  ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember reading something years back about some bullish plans for the Marriott brand in the Philippines. Just searching Google now, they had plans for 14 new properties (back in 2019) in the Philippines. Those Cebu properties sound certainly something to look forward to. There's a bit of work going on nearby the Sheraton as well. I asked about the Emerald Resort they said they hadn't seen any work on the construction of that resort for a while. I read that the company was in a bit of financial strife. Do you know what's happening on that resort?

    • @lionhearted1969
      @lionhearted1969 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FindingParadise The Aruga property is on the left side of Sheraton separated by a vacant lot. It is them who announced before that they will sign with Marriott for Autograph Collection brand to manage their Mactan property.
      The Emerald Casino Mactan Resort is a testament or symbol of a man's greed. The former owner, Dennis Uy (a Duterte crony), bit more than he could chew. Now his empire is collapsing just as fast as he built it. His Mactan casino/resort project is now owned by Enrique Razon who also operates the Solaire Casino in Paranaque City, Metro Manila. They didn't mention of any partnership with international hotel chain for their hotel in Mactan. That means this property will also sport a new name soon once completed, most probably Solaire Resorts & Casino Mactan to be consistent with their brand in Paranaque.

    • @FindingParadise
      @FindingParadise  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very interesting Giorgio, thanks for all the info. The Emerald Casino from the posts I saw it looked like it was going to be an a very extravagant place. Maybe the new owners will cut back a bit on all the extravagance. None the less there are some exciting projects ongoing in Cebu for the future. I actually got some cheap vouchers at a trade show in Ayala earlier in the year for the Nustar Hotel. I'm trying to wait till their pool is open so I can have a look at that place. Looks pretty swish!

    • @lionhearted1969
      @lionhearted1969 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FindingParadise I think the wisest thing for the new owner of Emerald is to outdo and outsmart its closest rival, the newly opened Nustar Casino and Resort over in SRP in Cebu City. Mr. Razon should turn it into a more attractive destination similar or more than his Paranaque property. He should take advantage of the location which is a beachfront, which must be the country's first beach casino resort. BTW, Nustar Casino just recently witnessed the opening of a branch of the iconic Mott 32, one of the world's most expensive Chinese restaurants. I watched a video of a local vlogger who dined at Mott 32 Nustar recently and showed their menu and I was astounded with the P26,000++ price tag of one serving of a Japanese abalone, effectively kicking out Australian abalone to poor second with a price tag of P21,000++. Yes, all their abalone dishes are the most expensive. Its cheapest dish there was a Cantonese dimsum at P400!

    • @FindingParadise
      @FindingParadise  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, time will tell! Cebu will be attracting the high rollers from China when that country gets over the covid mess.
      That bill rivals Virgin Island in Bohol. I think I'll have to stick to the cheap sea snails! I would never image that Cebu would of had one of the most expensive Chinese restaurants in the world. How things are changing or progressing really. 👍
