Bro just like with the passive voice under readability 23:15 its possible that it makes many more mistakes as well correct? i have the focus keyword in both h1 and the first paragraph but it still gives a red for that point. However I did read that it does not come off the red for focus keyword unless the paragraph has a html tag. My paragraphs start with so maybe you can advise on that. Great post thanks
Do you think that one main focus keyword is enough to get results on google? I’m use to using multiple keywords similar to the main keyword. I assume the premium version...is it worth it to get the premium version for that benefit? Thanks for your help.
One main keyword is not enough, but I don't think you need the premium version just for that benefit. When you write a long post (700 or more words) you'll be able to add in multiple keywords and variations of the original without it sounding forced. For the secondary keywords you don't need to worry about reaching a specific density. They just need to be the post somewhere. I use the premium version more for internal linking suggestions. All that said, Yoast Premium is great and if you think you'll benefit from it's features definitely check it out. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

Hi Bertus, you're right, is updated all the time. I think it's because Google tweaks it's algorithm up to 800 times a year. If an SEO plugin wants to remain relevant, accurate and useful then it needs to figure what the algo updates and then update their plugin.

Hi Danish, you're welcome for the knowledge. Knowledge should be free! Optimizing your it like you have gives it the best chance of ranking in search engines. If you are targeting a keyword that is not competitive then what you've done may be all you need to get on the first page. If the keyword is competitive then you'll need to do link building in addition to on-page optimization. And it can take a while for your post to appear for any given keyword. It doesn't happen right away especially for small and new sites.

Again another great tutorial. I have a couple of questions, why is Yoast not picking up my images on any of my pages or the links to other pages on the website (internal links). All images have the title and alt title entered in them but if I go to media area and click on the image, it comes up with SEO not available. I have got some columns which are set to link to other pages on the site, these are on most pages but it is not picking them up. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Sally

Thanks and thanks for watching! You can change the site title by going to Settings > General. The site title should be the first input box on that page. You don't need to use SEO Yoast for that. I hope that helps!
Great Thanks, Here is the scenario: I transferred a copy of my existing woo-comm store/ blog to a new host and domain. I now working on restructuring the whole thing and deleting a bunch of its content as well as categories and tags. The new sitemap has NOT been submitted and the new site has not yet been indexed. My questions: Does it matter if I deled all the redirects in Yoast before I submit the new site? And if it does how can I clean up the sitemap so I do not get a bunch of errors from google? I am thinking it should not be an issue since the sitemap adjusts dynamically and Google will only get the final sitemap. Am I correct?

Hi, Yes, I've uploaded the photos via the Media Library. I am starting to believe there is something wrong with the shortcodes of the wp theme. Apparently no pictures placed in carousel sliders are not picked up by Google, therefore I've changed the layout of my page and added the photos in single image only. Lets see..

Hi Siva, If you delete SEO Yoast and install a new one it won't delete pages or posts or anything like that. You may lose some of the Yoast Settings and Yoast optimizations. But my feeling is that the info will be stored in the database because if you switch from Yoast SEO Free to Yoast SEO Pro you have to delete the free one and then install the paid one. So I think all the settings stay in the database otherwise you'd have to redo everything when you get install pro. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

Hi Kavita, The free and paid version of Yoast will have the same speed. The speed is dependent on Google. Once you've made changes on your site, the next the Google crawler visits your site it will put the new content in your database. But, when the Google crawler visits your site it usually doesn't see the whole site. It will follow some links on your site then go to the next one. So you'll start seeing your site info updated in the Google search results for some pages, but not all of them. Eventually, all of them will be updated. It can take anywhere between a few days to a few weeks for everything to update in Google. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

Hi Raul, It takes up to 30 days for Google to update snippets in their search results. If you made the change today and checked tomorrow they would not be updated yet. Could that be the issue?

You can set the info that appears in Google search results on each page (check out this part of the tutorial 9 minutes 51 seconds: th-cam.com/video/IDGetWWt4eY/w-d-xo.htmlm51s&index=2&list=PLlgSvQqMfii5iITxqFovoQCSKppAy_bOA) If you update that info on the page homepage then that will update the info in Google. It takes time for Google to find the updated information though. It take up to a month for the index to recognize your changes. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

It sounds like there's a missing step in your Google Search Console (GSC). Have you completed the initial setup of your site in GSC? Great tutorial for WP blogs but the large majority of the info (from 8mins until the end) is specifically for a POST. Would be great if you could redo this for a Portfolio style page. Obviously, having lots of images and very little copy makes Yoast come up with LOADS of errors and unfortunately following your video can't fix these issues :(
Did you change something before it disappeared? Added a plugin? Updated something? Have you made sure that all your plugins, your theme and the WordPress core files are up-to-date? Another thing to try. When you're in the post or page editor click "Screen Options" at the top of the page and make sure "Yoast" is checked. I hope one of those helps and thanks for watching!

No. I mean, when we write a blog post, we see Readability and SEO Score at the right box (above 'Publish' button). That score signal is missing from there. I tried almost everything like deleting other plugins, reinstalling Yoast but issue is still there. Can you help me in that?

Please check your webserver for possible misconfiguration, as these errors may be caused by a server error (such as a 5xx error) or a network error between Googlebot and your server. Hi Tuncay, I know it can be frustrating, but most plugins have a yearly upgrade subscription. So after you pay the $69 you have a year before you pay again. If you bought it recently and it's saying your subscription is finished it's probably an error on their end. I would contact their support team in that case. I hope that helps!

The new sitemap has NOT been submitted and the new site has not yet been indexed.
My questions:
Does it matter if I deled all the redirects in Yoast before I submit the new site?
And if it does how can I clean up the sitemap so I do not get a bunch of errors from google?
I am thinking it should not be an issue since the sitemap adjusts dynamically and Google will only get the final sitemap. Am I correct?

Quick question in regards to the generated sitemap by Yoast. I noticed that none of my images are being showed in the sitemap. I have pages full of images but 0 in the /page-sitemap.xml. Do you have a solution for this? And btw, Google is NOT indexing my images at this point.

Did you upload the images via the WordPress media library? If you did, the Yoast should be able to pick them up.
Hi, Yes, I've uploaded the photos via the Media Library. I am starting to believe there is something wrong with the shortcodes of the wp theme. Apparently no pictures placed in carousel sliders are not picked up by Google, therefore I've changed the layout of my page and added the photos in single image only. Lets see..
Poorly coded themes is a common issue. The shortcodes could definitely be there problem. Let me know how the change to single images works out.

I don't have a video for that specifically. But to rank a page for venue name and location you'll need to make a separate page for each venue.

If you delete SEO Yoast and install a new one it won't delete pages or posts or anything like that. You may lose some of the Yoast Settings and Yoast optimizations. But my feeling is that the info will be stored in the database because if you switch from Yoast SEO Free to Yoast SEO Pro you have to delete the free one and then install the paid one. So I think all the settings stay in the database otherwise you'd have to redo everything when you get install pro.

Do you know what happened to Yoast's meta keyword feature? Is that part of their paid features now?
Nevermind. Yoast seems to have removed them from their interface as they deem them to be useless.

It wasn't Yoast that deemed them useless, it was search engine algorithms. Meta keywords were prone to spam and keyword stuffing.

How long does it take for Yoast SEO to show on google, the unpaid version?
Hi Kavita,
The free and paid version of Yoast will have the same speed. The speed is dependent on Google. Once you've made changes on your site, the next the Google crawler visits your site it will put the new content in your database.
But, when the Google crawler visits your site it usually doesn't see the whole site. It will follow some links on your site then go to the next one. So you'll start seeing your site info updated in the Google search results for some pages, but not all of them. Eventually, all of them will be updated.
It can take anywhere between a few days to a few weeks for everything to update in Google.

It takes up to 30 days for Google to update snippets in their search results. If you made the change today and checked tomorrow they would not be updated yet. Could that be the issue?

You can set the info that appears in Google search results on each page (check out this part of the tutorial 9 minutes 51 seconds: th-cam.com/video/IDGetWWt4eY/w-d-xo.htmlm51s&index=2&list=PLlgSvQqMfii5iITxqFovoQCSKppAy_bOA)
If you update that info on the page homepage then that will update the info in Google. It takes time for Google to find the updated information though. It take up to a month for the index to recognize your changes.

Where you are writing the post is actually in the WordPress post editor. The SEO checklist Yoast provides is just an add-on to the regular post editor.
So any post you create will be added to the blog.

Great tutorial for WP blogs but the large majority of the info (from 8mins until the end) is specifically for a POST.
Would be great if you could redo this for a Portfolio style page. Obviously, having lots of images and very little copy makes Yoast come up with LOADS of errors and unfortunately following your video can't fix these issues :(

The first thing I would do is make sure all your plugins, your theme and your Wordpress core files are all up-to-date. Then try Yoast again.

Have you made sure that all your plugins, your theme and the WordPress core files are up-to-date?
Another thing to try. When you're in the post or page editor click "Screen Options" at the top of the page and make sure "Yoast" is checked.

No. I mean, when we write a blog post, we see Readability and SEO Score at the right box (above 'Publish' button). That score signal is missing from there. I tried almost everything like deleting other plugins, reinstalling Yoast but issue is still there.

Please check your webserver for possible misconfiguration, as these errors may be caused by a server error (such as a 5xx error) or a network error between Googlebot and your server. All reachable URLs will still be submitted.) 503 error :( Where do I go to learn to fix this? or does it need fixing?

I recommend doing it without a plugin if you can.

I know it can be frustrating, but most plugins have a yearly upgrade subscription. So after you pay the $69 you have a year before you pay again. If you bought it recently and it's saying your subscription is finished it's probably an error on their end. I would contact their support team in that case.
