All I could have ever wished to be as a drummer....smooth, groovy and always played to the song, nothing flashy but always standout..this fella had the lot!! You will always be missed Jon but always remembered....especially when I listen and play along to tremolo song! Simple yet sooo good👍👍👍
loved Jon. His drumming seemed so laid back and easy on the surface. It's not as easy as he made it look. And so inventive. He's going to be sorely missed. Part of one the best and most underrated rhythm sections ever. Commiserations to family and freinds
I just love how he could play so behind the beat and then totally clock it, effortlessly pulling the swing backwards and forwards and then smashing it like a sgt major. I think he was one of the true children of Bonham, though he isn't often spoken of in the same way. Brookes was a fucking monster drummer. Shout out to Michael Lee fans, btw. I'm sure you love this guy too.
Such a shame that he's gone. I know he was an admirer of Reni (Stone Roses) and although I'm not a drummer, it seems to me that he had something of the Reni skills about him too. Making it look laid back & easy when I'm sure it isn't! It'd be amazing if you could get the great Alan Reni Wren in to do a masterclass! Watching him of late has given me a new appreciation of drummers and made me want to have a go! Even tho I could never even dream of reaching anywhere near their levels. It's a bit of a childhood dream. I started out appreciating the great Stewart Copeland aged 11 and my uncle (who was in a band) lent me his snare drum, but sadly it never went any further.
