thing is we need these types of dreamers to push us forward into the future... I thank the Dutch people for their contribution...we have no way of predicting the future...we we went from flying a few feet at first to space in less then 50 yrs...

yeah agree that - I just think the regulatory framework and what people are prepared to accept has moved on. In the 1940s taking off from a highway would have been almost encouraged but not today...

FWIW: THIS is where _jump takeoff_ would be _ideal._

@5:05: there is a rule set for heavy gyro's, EASA CS27 (small rotorcraft), it goes up to 3175kg mtow. It's mainly meant for helicopters so is a tough set of rules, but it is the one PAL-V follows. It's in no way comparable to BCAR section T, but it does apply to gyrocopters. It's largely the same as FAA FAR27, so meeting it does make an aircraft airworthy in most places

It could be built or customized for professional that travel from place to place very frequently. Such as business men, travelling nurses, field engineers etc. For such people this type of technology would be effective.

Its It's a really neat idea, but completely impractical.
One might think that it might be a good way to avoid being confined to an airport, and good also double as transportation at the destination. But really, how anxious would a fellow actually be to drive something like this in city traffic? I drive clunkers BECAUSE I don't want to worry about getting rear ended, or sideswiped. No way in heck would i drive a $300,000 dollar car of any kind where that could potentially be an issue. And for that matter a hangar wont cost you THAT much. Yes hangars are expensive, but i can shove my gyro onto a $300. 00 dollar hangar. And be in the air as soon as i can lift the rotors into place and preflight the machine.
Hmm, preflight alongside a busy highway...... not the safest proposition either. Actually how often would it ACTUALLY recieve a preflight at all? During annual inspection??
Admittedly it is definitely pretty cool. But I think id rather have a regular old Bensen. It would be lots more practical even without an extra seat.

    Another cool toy for wealthy
Better to own or lease a luxury ground vehicle, suv, and a tricked out gyro or plane with a trailer
A basic North American 4wd cuv or suv, truck can drive all roads, dirt, grass, mud, ice, deep snow in all known weather and temp extremes from north Yukon to tropics.
You could have a heated, cooled, covered trailer for your luxury tricked out dedicated gyro for less cost than this crazy toy
    (But I'd take one for $50K-80k 😎)

I think its a great idea but the implementation is unpractical with twin engine etc. And the price became a bit too much. I think at $200K and with single engine, even I would consider buying one. May be I will do one for myself

Rotors, mast, tail and prop that "fold-up"?
    Nah...don't fancy that
Some Aussies tried the wheeze of the folding-mast.
It sure folded-up nice. Killing 4 people...

@@gyrocopterflyingclub6148 That was the second fold-up in just over three months.

The father and son victims in the second crash had seemingly not heard about the previous grounding order...

The Aussie folding mast absolutely "NOTHING" to do with it and it did not make sense to me as an engineer either when they tried to say it was the plates on the folding mast. It was the blades in both the accidents and when they got unbalanced to that degree obviously the weakest joint gave up (folding mast joint) but something would give up in that drastic an unbalance in blades. Both accidents have the same root cause. All those previous blades with that construction are suspect.

@@abidfarooqui-sla3301 Funny these were the only two gyros in the world to suffer this type of accident. And the only two with folding masts....
Anyhow, the fewer "weakpoints" the better, for my kind of flying - thanks all the same.
Besides, this PAL-V nonsense would only get "trollied" or worse, down at ASDA....

I think you summed this project up very well. Imagine if you were given one and could drive and fly it for free, would you use it? If I was given one I would sell it immediately. I’d hate to look at the weather and read NOTAM’s before going to the supermarket. It would piss me off having to do a really detailed pre-flight whenever I’ve parked it up in public. I’d hate buying something in the shops and not being able to get it home. I couldn’t stand having to run my day by the timing of aeronautical twilight, having to plan alternates when I went to the butchers. The worldwide market will be flooded after three are built. Technically brilliant but at much use as a V12 powered bottle opener or something built by Colin Furze, but without the humour.

It makes no sense. I’d rather drive the airfield in my Bentley, fly to were I needed to go and have a good 350k spare!

    brilliant thing!
i'd love one if given... but wonder how many passionates have even €360K free? Amazed govt. involved, not so widely appealing like a flying taxi....

    Let me be clear:
    *I ABSOLUTELY ♥ AUTOGYROS / GYROCOPTERS / GYROPLANES*
That said, this vehicle and ALL similar ones on the verge of entering the market {or at least on the drawing board} are IMHO _roadble aircraft,_ not flying cars.
    THIS is a flying car:
