I just shut up and watch NF, now learning to repair on my own. Recently fixed a Sega Genesis and recapped my Nomad. Thank you NF for sharing all his knowledge. 👌
Nice fix. As you say, this is very common fault with the PS5 consoles. Architecture is slightly improved on the newer revision motherboards, but I still see this issue often.
I just love watching your videos. It is really great that you are helping others by teaching a class to educate others. The way you explain why you can't answer a simple question is great. Keep it up.
In other words, Alex spent years and years asking these questions and learning. It's not as simple as watching a few videos and asking a few questions. That's not gonna get you very far, and then skill comes into play, even if you know what components are faulty, that doesn't mean you are able to fix it. Soldering is a very complex thing to do. I've been watching his videos for a very long time, and have only had a small amount of success soldering, but you just have to keep learning and developing skill.
More than likely the consoles are placed in an enclosed space inside an entertainment center and become heat soaked after lengthy run times and the weakest link in the chain breaks
Have a question, for those small capacitors can you buy them online to replace instead of buying another donor board just to get those small pieces? I want to learn, and if so, where can we buy them, or search on google specifically for.
Alex doesn't need to do this because he will never run out of donor boards but if I had only one donor board I would mark the value of those caps on the motherboard so I would know which cap to take from my supply.
Hello I want to say that I enjoy you channel I have bought some of your products. the mini tweezers are God sent. I also want to ask does Big Boss talk alot or very little?
Hi, overhearing you talk to the customer you have a minimum bench fee of $95 correct? Being in Canada I am curious about US rates and structure and few repair examples would be really interesting to hear you discuss that portion of the business, I love your videos.
Question: I've always had sort of an opposition to using electronic parts that have been used on prior electronic devices, due to the fact that all electronics have a finite amount of uses before they no longer work, so knowing this... Would it not be safe to say, that an electronic part that is removed from a donor device will never have the same longevity as a new electronic part?...inevitably, meaning that the repaired device has a good chance at returning for the same issue in a shorter time than using a new part?
Whether new or old with things like this u are always subject to the silicone lottery and with that said this is a more responsible practice by reducing e waste imo
Microsoldering and component level repair is the future of PC repair. Just having a shop and telling people to replace a motherboard isn't viable anymore. Fixing these boards costs a whole $1.30 to the business. Asking the customer to buy a new motherboard for $200 to $1000 depending on the device is lunacy.
I often wonder how you know which way around to install the caps and chips. Maybe it doesn’t matter or you are just careful the match the orientation of the original part?
Alex, In your opinion is it bad manufacturer design that causes blown capacitors in the same region on multitude of similar boards, or could there be another explanation like user error or abuse?
hello from australia can you do a video on a gigabyte rx6600xt eagle no display output please.. i have one and would like to know how to test it for a short on the test ponits. the 12v rail seems to be fine as i have tested the pcie plug with gpu on but i get no display output. thank you for the awesome details in all your videos. you are one top bloke
Yeah, the best you can do is point folks like that to learn somewhere else because they will never believe that they should really give up and have someone else perform the work.
I have a question, I have a BLOD on an EDM-030 board. I have done all the research and purchased all the tools to do so. My question is, what are the normal voltages of the various capicitors around the board? I ask because, instead of getting a donor board, I would order only the damaged component/components once I have located the fault. Thank you.
what chances are that a person who doesnt know how to ask right questions will be able to repair console by himself? more probable is he'll break it even further - and for that will blame you
Would you be consider also create a structured educational video training on the micro soldering ? And sell it as online detailed tutorial. Perhaps used the experiences and common errors you seen and found from your regular trainings ?
Also UV light can cure console by itself, simply make sure you exposed the board and yourself by UV light and there is the second method if praying didn't work 😀
Hello Dear NorthridgeFix, I do not think we can register your workshop cause of being far away, but if you can make tutorials of your wokshop and we may watch them on a different paid online platform . And I will be appreciative. Regards. Thanks.
why are capacitors so weak these days, I see many of the same defects broken capacitors. my Dell XPS 702x laptop is 12 years old and I use it every day luckily no broken capacitors or blue light of dead!
Please describe what prayer should be said for the console to repair itself. You probably know more. But one that is compatible with several consoles is enough.
Asalaamualaikum my brother could you please tell me from your experience does the bq ic cause the laptop not to turn on and give me strange readings in the main power rail
Could a PS3 (CECH-2008A) too have a similar problem? I used my PS3 after 6-7years.. it started fine & then suddenly died. Powering on; RED light, turning into GREEN.. then YELLOW for a fraction of second & then blinking RED light with 3 beeps. I am from India & follow your channel regularly. Id have sent the PS3 to you if i was in US. Any suggestions, that could be helpful, as out here nobody wants to fix it..
@@retroradar_de no way to tell without reading the syscon codes. Blindly replacing NEC Tokins is wasted effort if not needed. Yes there are times those are the fault but most YLOD is caused by cracked solder balls or underfill.
The blue light simply indicates the boot stage of the PS5. From what the blue light does (short light, long light etc) will help to diagnose a possible fault with the PS5
Pray. Maybe the console fixes itself! Now that is gold
Next question What is prayer, and how do you do it 😂🤣
@@mentalmininguk 🤣🤣Classic‼

lmao in life sometimes things can get fixed it self haha
I'm sure someone tried that
After you do your micro-soldering workshop, you might want to do a prayer workshop
He ran out of the capacitors from thay donor board 😂
Always a pleasure to complete a task with minimal effort. ❤❤❤
~Hoping to start your training soon. 👍
"What advice can I give? Pray." 🤣Best response ever! Covers many issues unrelated to electronics as well!
I just love watching your videos. It is really great that you are helping others by teaching a class to educate others. The way you explain why you can't answer a simple question is great. Keep it up.
You're right so many causes. My PS5 Blue Light of Death was caused by cpu overheating which caused its pins to move out place. I got it fixed long ago

Great video Alex, and I also love how you teach life lessons sometimes.
Alex over here getting three birds stoned at once. Happy customer, happy commenter, and happy TH-cam content.
so glad I discovered you. another great informative video. thank you for all you do!!!
Love your answer Alex.
Thanks for sharing your skills, when you inject 1.5 volts, how many amperes is the current?
Great fix big boss.
Alex, next time I need a tip, I'll ask you to kindly response me. You seem to be a responsible person.
Loved the “pray” response. You made me laugh while I was drinking my pop. Excuse me while I clean my monitor. 😂😂😂
I would very much enjoy seeing how Big Boss does his work on some devices.
no wonder your video quality is good, that is a big light diffuser
I love it! Respect for the elders! "The boss of all bosses".
Thank you for the knowledge Alex 🙏 it’s definitely gonna help me if I ever come into this problem
always very professional repair
I See your videos for three years Thanks Alex I Like you
nice fix, as always, but what is the reason those caps go bad ? is it heat or bad quality or something else ?
Here to ask the same question if anyone knows? TIA.
More than likely the consoles are placed in an enclosed space inside an entertainment center and become heat soaked after lengthy run times and the weakest link in the chain breaks
Thank you Alex!

I second this question haha

You can purchase a case of different typres from Alex
the issue here is to determine the value of capacitor, without schematics it is impossible to identify the cap
We would love to have the values of the replaced components i videos 🥰
Thank you for the work you do!
What it tells me is “fix blues light ps5 death, Northridge ps5 capacitors available on the shop” advert coming soon😂
"Pray" very helpful
🤣😂😅

If it was an old sega or something 20-30 years old that would be a very different story but in this case he's just being responsible

I frequently have gnomes or pixies that will fix automobile issues at night. But that usually ends up being a goblin.
great teaching as always!
Good job mate 👏

Probably the NEC Tokin capacitors that failed in your console.
😮
@@retroradar_de no way to tell without reading the syscon codes. Blindly replacing NEC Tokins is wasted effort if not needed. Yes there are times those are the fault but most YLOD is caused by cracked solder balls or underfill.
Would the ps5 work fine with only 3 caps? might be a good question
So how do i do it?
Thank you for your expertise
is there any way to improve on their build quality so it don't fail again.
"i have a lot of donor board of ps5" how do you have so many donor board? did you buy it somewhere?
Boss of all boss!!😂❤
Maybe next you can upload a video about PS5 with blue light of dead but no short and all fuses is good..
Alex needs a lot of patience in his business. I would fail.
Is this probelem covered under WARRANTY , i bought my ps5 in December 2023???
Pray 🙏
Lol I died at pray the console will fix itself 😂😂😂😂
If you do not know how to fix it, just pay someone to fix it for you. Simple as that 😊😊

There is no console or laptop, reading 3 ihlas and 1 Fatiha can't fix. 😂
I mean either learn or leave it to the professionals
8:01 It tells me if I have a Ps5 with a blue light of death I should change those caps and there is a decent chance it will fix it
👌👌👍👍
hie sir good where do you saty l heav asus 2 in 1
Is there gonna be a workshop to be boss of all bosses?
The easiest PS5 to fix is the ones with no power, no lights, and no beeps.
More caps, more failure points. Sony smart.
Could the guy entering the shop during the video, the same person who left the comment?
atleast now the customer can buy a new ps5 pro for 800€ plus tax, bluray drive, and plastic stand 😂
😂

i thought the console wars were dead
Is big boss your dad?
. . . Why are the parts so unreliable? . . .😮
allahi barek
It's blue light, but what does it do?
It light blue😅
The blue light simply indicates the boot stage of the PS5. From what the blue light does (short light, long light etc) will help to diagnose a possible fault with the PS5
