Everyone keeps saying kosem lost her innocence. I wonder how many of us can keep up with innocence in a system where you will end up dead if your guard is down. Sure kosem became ruthless over the age but she never wanted all this to begin with. Unlike other women, even when she was brought to the palace she never wanted to be in the harem or seduce the sultan despite Ahmet's interest. She finally settled down when she realised she is stuck for life. Ahmet left the entire kingdom and the life of his kids in her hands when he died. If she treasured her innocence everyone she loved would have been dead the very next day. She became what she was because the situation demanded. She ruled the kingdom as regent for many years. Once you taste power and in her case she ruled the entire empire it's not easy to give up everything and get ruled. No human likes to be ruled or be a subordinate. None of her kids were capable enough to rule the kingdom as far as they show in the show. Therefore given all these circumstances she had to give up her cherished innocence.

Somehow Mustafa is wise and dare I say, a touch sane in his insanity? If he wasn't under the thumb of his mother and sister he wouldn't have had to grow up in isolation and he probably could have led a decent life - maybe even governed his own province. This isn't his mother and sister's fault. Mustafa was actually supposed to die, his brother Ahmed I spared his life and ended fratricide. All Şehzade who were eligible for the throne lived in the Kafes from then on. He could never have governed his own province, by that time the princes weren't allowed to do that, instead they were confined in the Twin Kiosks/Crown Prince Apartments.
You cant be innocent if you go through everything Kosem went through, you have to attack alot so your enemies can know what "FEAR" is .. cus without fear, you cant control
Mustafa pinpointed exactly who has she become. Now I would say as Safiye did not love her grandson she loved her son Iskender so much that after his death she decided to follow him. Kosem even now plots against her own son because her dearest love is a throne , not a person who sits on it.

@taaha zeeshan I am not a Murad fan because his cruelty and being blind to any human responses but Kosem is an active factor to run him into an insanity. She sees also only her point of view, considers herself a goddess that only makes right decisions and do net lets a power slip from her grasps. The power I would say is like a scorpion - once you survive its bite, its venom will run through your veins forever and changes you. Hurrem was also a power driven but even she until her last breath fought for the life of her children preventing the bloodshed between Selim and Bayazid while Kosem drived Kasim against Murad just because her older son was too strong to become her puppet.

She wanted to rule it solely by herself and as I do not like Murad's bloodthirst and cruelty, Kosem has stabbed him in the back and tried to remove him also because he was too strong willed to be used as a puppet.
Technically speaking, only the mother of the sultan can become Valide. Therefore he love for Iskender is justified because she has more direc access yo power as Valide with her direct som on the throne. A grandson on the throne will be difficult because they have their mother in between.

In reality, She was never innocent since she came in place.

She gained power by marrying him
Later she banished mahfiruz as she was her greatest rival.
She wanted her sons to to have the throne but there was osman.
Then she began improving her relation with little osman and used to take him to carriage rides.
However Ahmed knew how kosem was so he made her stay away from osman.
Kosem knew if osman takes the throne her children will be executed and her children were too young to take the throne.
So after Ahmed death some say her self write to end fatricide or convinced Ahmed.
She made mustafa the king as she thought he was easy to control. But because his mental health he was deposed and eventually osman got the throne and he banished kosem and her children to old Palace. Osman killed Mehmet which led to rebellions.
Till the tenure of osman kosem had to live in Old Palace. Until she plotted against osman and killed him. Then again mustafa got the throne and she deposed him and made murad to take the throne.

Stress often changes a person's appearance, making them look much older than they actually are.
Mustafa was only 6 months younger than Sultan Ahmed. So historically Mustafa was older than Kossem. Also he was locked up for about 44 years

What I like about this serie is that Turks are independent and make their own series for their culture.
Americans put their bussiness on other cultures by making movies and stealing from myths especially greeks and shape it into their own. Mixing american with Europian or old historical cultures. And is not cool.
i can truly say that this is one of the most powerful scenes from the Magnificent century series.Powerful,but full with like pain,too.I remember how cute Kosem and Mustafa were together from the beggining of the series❤️And now,everything what mustafa said,was true,this broke my heart💔
