  • See Tsunami2 Dynamic Brakes in action! Shot on the late Jim Richards Athabaska railroad on the sections modeling Canadian Pacific’s Spiral Tunnels west of Calgary Alberta, we descend the 2% grade and show off the Dynamic Brake function of the Tsunami2.

There's a rail grade in the US that was 4,4% but it was abandoned call Saluda grade.

Its a shame that the speed step cant be edited with another CV value, I find speed step 8 just too slow for my 3% grade on my layout, I also use just 32 speed steps.

The real locos would try to maintain about 10 MPH using the DBs. This is why the feature was implemented in this way. During the development of the decoder, we did have former Railroad Engineers (BNSF and Amtrak and the steam on the Durango and Silverton) to draw experience from. We will take your suggestion to make it adjustable and see where we can implement this adjustment in future products. Thank you!

Overall, this is a simulation, we do the best we can, with the experience we are given. We’ll look to add selectable options in future products.

So Dynamic braking is equivalent to an engine retarder on a diesel engine. A Choo-Choo Jake brake. Cool.

Haha I guess you can look at it that way. :D

Nice. Just one more “see” and “how” to video to make running trains more realistic Thanks. Really appreciate these. 🚂

Nice. Like they say a video is worth 1000 words. BTW how about adding a quick reference to the manual section being addressed by the video? Thank you.

George demonstrates Dynamic Brakes in this video. You can read more about this throughout the Tsunami2 Diesel User's Guide (Pf. 8, 22, 36, etc):www.soundtraxx.com/manuals/tsu2_diesel_usersguide.pdf

Sounds fantastic! Maybe a little adjust to the volume.
