If she cheats on you don't take her back. If you take her back, you end up cheating on yourself.

Depending on if he were doing the same. Some MEN expect her to be loyal while he cheats and neglects the relationship. If both did the same thing and mature up to be honest about it and want to re-define the relationship, then think about it. Honestly. Especially if children are involved. The problem is men do not want to admit bc he thinks his cheating is less meaningful than hers. Well no. Cheating is cheating. And there is no double standard in it.

Same. My ex did me dirty and cost me everything, and I was financially well off. Boom! Homeless overnight. Sleeping in the dirt. Teamed up with a young girl out there to try to keep her safe and we hit it off. Clawed my wait out of homeless and took her with me. Racked up 50k and was ballin. Wouldn’t you know she sabotaged everything. Some saps never learn. My own damn fault.

She asked me why would I do that? I said you like him now but you’ll grow to resent him and try to hurt him because he’s a good man and the guy doesn’t deserve that. The opposite of cheating is fidelity - loyalty. As a married man of over 22 years and the relationship actually working, I have been asked by others why mine works (so far). I'll share a few key points here, as failure most often happens due to lack of knowledge; sometimes people just need to know what to orient against in order to succeed:
    1) Physical attraction should NOT be the only criteria for choosing a mate. It's like checking if a car has 4 wheels before buying it - it should be a given, not a selection criteria or the sole criteria.
    2) You need to have agreement on goals in life. Not just what, but how. Examples:
2a) Do you want kids? How many? If she wants six and you want none, red flag.
2b) How will you raise them? A devout Christian and an Atheist will probably have some major differences in approaching this topic.
2c) Kids or no kids: Are you ok with an apartment? Condo? Townhouse? Family home? How are you going to pay for that - she might be all for you bringing in the money as a network engineer, not so much if you're a jewelry thief. Or maybe the latter turns her on...
    3) Life is not a sprint, it's a marathon. There will be ups and downs. Got a $12k bonus this year? Pay back bills, or sock it into savings - don't blow all of it on a trip to Cancun. The economic downturn that might happen 4 months later causing you to lose that job will make you wish you used that money more wisely. Also, the downs are seasons in your life - not permanent. In particular to the ladies: just because your man lost his job doesn't mean he's now a loser. I lost mine in 2002, went bankrupt 2003, found work in 2004, promoted in 2010 and 2014, hit six figures of income and maintained it since 2014. My wife stayed the course, so of course she now reaps the benefits.
    4) It's a TEAM effort. BOTH partners have to want it and work towards it. Some duties are shared, some are taken up more by one partner than another. Set up what works best for you both, with a realistic assessment of your own strengths and weaknesses. I work, my wife takes care of the kids. My wife also takes care of health insurance claims for the family because she used to work in that profession and knows how to handle the challenges that come up. She also is willing to expand her duties, such as take over mowing the lawn when my back is hurt or I'm putting in 12-16 hour shifts at work. Likewise I'm not above doing dishes and laundry when she's down for a week due to a gall bladder attack. Kids get drafted as needed on most fronts.
    5) News flash to the ladies: take care of your husbands at home, in the bedroom. No, it's not supposed to be a reward when he gets you a Luis Vuitton purse, it's what you're supposed to do as part of your bond with him - just like he protects and provides for you, and both your kids where kids are involved. Most men don't marry to end up celibate - they can do that without you.
    6) Avoid situations that even have the appearance of infidelity. Your girl’s nights out ended when you got into a serious relationship, never mind engagement/marriage. Why? Because the goal of those nights out wasn’t just to have a good time, if you’re smart - it was to find a partner. Better if you find him through more positive venues, like class at college. It’s a different mindset. You’re moving into the next stage of the game, you and your partner against the world (reference point 4 above). Which leads me to:
    7) Ensure you have goals you mutually agree on, and smaller targets that, when achieved, build towards those goals. You’re in the game of life together now. Celebrate the wins when such are achieved. Too often we put our attention on what’s broken; we must not forget to acknowledge each other when we win together.
Marriage is rewarding when the couple has each other's back and are on the same page in terms of boundaries and expectations. It requires discipline to work. When you stop working on it, that's when it begins to fall apart. There is no "automatic" setting - it's an ongoing endeavor. This is why men are walking away - because the women don't want to do the work, they only want to collect the benefits. Show me a business contract that anyone is willing to sign where they have to do most or all the work and the other guy gets most or all the profit - no one in their right mind would sign such a contract. Yet the state wants to enforce that on men - and you wonder why you can’t find a man anymore?

Great points. My question is this. You as a married man of x years. How do you deal with the urge of not stepping outside your marriage? What I mean is, how do you deal with having the save vagina night after night or whenever?

@@Introverted_Extrovert99 Never really thought about it from the viewpoint of "it's the same V". Yes, I have had attraction, sparks, with other women - even had a few hit on me over the years. It's what you DO about them (or not) that counts.
You keep your mind on the long game. A thrill tonight, discovered 6 months later leads to a messy divorce - is it worth that?
Strangely enough, other that the occasional "what if?" sentiment, it's never bothered me. I would guess it's partly because I'm just like that, partly because my wife takes care of me on the regular.
Remember, it's not just a personal relationship, it's a business arrangement - one that includes taking care of each other, supporting each other, and working through the disagreements towards achieving common goals mutually beneficial**. That's not just the secret to successful relationships with a significant other, it's the secret to all relationships being successful.
**Achieving individual goals are usually mutually beneficial as well, as the happiness resulting from that in the achiever tends to spill over to the significant other, as long as that achievement doesn't betray the other. Individual goals don't go away just because you get married. Life is a game that requires balancing your goals and purposes on multiple levels. Vet them to ensure what they're going for is compatible with what you're going for, or at least relatively neutral.

I’m pretty sure most guys in majority agree, cheating is a deal breaker. My ex wife and I had a deal during our marriage. We said to each other that if we found someone else that will compliment us, that we should break it off. Well, that deal was broken by her. We tried counseling. But ultimately I decided to leave. I left because there’s no way in hell I would carry that burden of disrespect. I value loyalty and respect, 2nd to loving God first. On top of it all, I married a broken individual. That there, is the only fault I will accept in my marriage. I will say this, once the cheating has occured, the marriage is over. Regardless of which gender did it.

Thankfully, my kids are doing good and we did counseling as a family. Explained to them what was happening with a third party professional. I value my sanity. I was angry at her. That was not healthy. Not good for kids so I had to end it for their sake. As men, we do what we can to fix things. That’s what we do. It’s our nature. But we can’t fix broken people, that’s the sad reality. I’m doing a lot better. I dedicate my time to my children only. I don’t date nor seeing anyone. My kids are my priority first and foremost. Yes, I get attention from women. But I am focused on me right now and my kids. It will suck in the beginning, it will hurt. But with pain, you have to learn to heal again from it. It’s a work in progress, but for my kids to have sanity and peace, it was worth it. Forgive yourself first. Follow your instincts and decide with a sane mind. And this is why I don't blame childless men for avoiding single mothers. For the same reasons I avoid single fathers. They will always be connected emotionally in some way because of those kids. Having to deal with the idea that you may get cheated on or broken up with because they still have feelings and want to put their family back together. And you can forget about ever being first in their lives, the kids fill that spot. They get to be first in YOURS, but you won't be first in THEIRS. And before you say, "well, not all single mothers/fathers are like that", I'm not talking about exceptions to the rule. If it don't apply, let it fly. But this happens to childless men and women often enough to be hugely problematic.

It's sad but true. Reddit surviving infidelity is an eye opener. Unfortunately women in their prime (18 to 26) do this the most. Their justification is that they don't want to miss out on other opportunities. When I met my husband and we decided to be serious, I stopped all contact with other guys even if we were only platonic. He did the same with his female friends. It's out of respect, honesty, and transparency. I don't even entertain male coworkers attention when they claim they're just being friendly. I don't want them to get the wrong idea and also I don't want anyone accusing me of being inappropriate. My marriage and my husband's trust is too valuable for me to lose it for something stupid.

I ended up breaking up with her because she had no problem keeping doors open, i.e. suggestive social media and tik tok posts, lying about little shit, having male "friends" because she said I wasn't paying her enough attention. If only I would have nipped it in the bud and cut things off when I found out about the texting. It would have saved me a whole lot of time. I've known and dated women that will literally tell me. "If a man wants to date other people aside from me before we make it serious. Then he needs to get my consent first." As they themselves are seeing a few "FRIENDS" on the side while she's trying to make up her mind. Women be full of shit. And then backhandedly say "Men have been doing it forever." I'm like - "WOMEN have been doing it forever. Especially for the fact you have more options and always forever seeking attention."

My last LT relationship ended after 9 years because she “couldn’t handle” my cancer diagnosis. That’s after being a stepfather to her 3 kids, going WAY above & beyond for them; that’s after 8 months of 24/7 palliative care for her mom as she was dying from the same cancer as me. I’d be getting chemo & radiation Mon-Thurs (while still working), get in the car EVERY Friday, drive 6 hours to her mom, spend the weekend caring for her, drive 6 hours back on Sunday evening, begin treatments again on Monday…. repeat the week. Week after week after week. After her moms funeral… she dropped the “I can’t handle it” speech on me! Truly some disgusting behavior, even her kids were disgusted in her. We tend to never hear about, and no one talks about, how bad some women can be.
