  • I ran out of Memory at the end sorry. You got the main story. I just did all the costs math and find the Parts for Ball Bearings will cost about $30. $21 for the drive shaft, $9 for 2 more axles plan and 7 Ball Bearing. As A DIY Kit you have to know this is NOT a level 1 or 2 DIY Project. I want a few of you experienced builders to be able to do the install I can not do it for every one. So please consider your skills and experience. You need to remove all the old parts, Fit the axles to the frame, Glue the Bearing in place press the axle on the gear in place on the chassis, then assemble the bearing and install the wheels. Making sure the wheels are clocked right and every thing is smooth. You guys gotta help me with these installs. D

If the chassis has good bushings, you would not need ball bearing s

The older chassis with worn bushing or worn chassis with NO bushing are pere t candidates for Ball Bearing upgrades. But also consider larger trains with lots of cars or uphill sections all will benefit. But true, average users will not require them.
