      @@BAYAREA-kd1igthe MLB on NBC was as great as the NBA on CBS. But the MLB on CBS tanked, while the NBA on NBC took off. I think one of the reasons was the theme song. Hate how the announcers kept underrating the Reds. They keep on hyping Zane Smith who was a decent starter in 1990, but the Reds muertalized left handed pitching that year, 7 of the 9 starters had at least a 30 pt higher batting average against lefties and Braggs and Quinones also did from the bench. Only O'niel and Morris had a significantly worse BA against lefties. The Reds were practically begging for Leyland to put Smith in.

In the 1990 postseason, Myers pitched 8 2/3 innings in relief and did not allow a run and had 4 saves. He was the MVP of this 1990 NLCS pitching 5 2/3 innings in 4 games allowing only 2 hits, had 3 saves, 7 K's, and a 0.00 era.

    This remains, as of 2017, the last time an Ohio team beat a Pittsburgh team in a postseason meeting.
    There have been seven losses since:
    1994 NFL season: Browns against Steelers (AFC Divisional Playoff)
    2002 NFL season: Browns against Steelers (AFC Wild Card Playoff) - last playoff game for Browns as of 2017
    2005 NFL season: Bengals against Steelers (AFC Wild Card Playoff)
    2013 MLB season: Reds against Pirates (NL Wild Card Game)
    2013-14 NHL season: Blue Jackets against Penguins (Metropolitan Division Semifinals - first season that teams shared division)
    2015 NFL season: Bengals against Steelers (AFC Wild Card Playoff) - closest that Ohio team has come to victory over Pittsburgh team in postseason since 1990, Bengals led 16-15 late, but allowed Steelers to get into FG range due to various fouls and resulting penalty yardage; the way the Bengals lost this game should have resulted in Marvin Lewis getting fired as it dropped him to 0-7 in the playoffs, but somehow he kept his job, keeping my top candidate to replace him, Brian Kelly, as the head coach of Notre Dame football, who went on to follow up a Fiesta Bowl appearance with a 4-8 season (and HE kept HIS job despite that, ND made the same mistake with Kelly that they did with Charlie Weis who had a 3-9 season years before; it's my opinion that ND"s TV partner NBC has been dissatisfied with ND's performance since the network began televising their home games in 1991 as the team hasn't won a national title since 1988, and if no national title is won before the end of the current contract extension in 2025 NBC will bail); while the Bengals went on to their first losing season since 2010 (which still didn't result in Lewis being fired)
    2016-17 NHL season: Blue Jackets against Penguins (Metropolitan Division Semifinals)

    Dave Stewart was joking about his poor hitting in the World Series up to that point (three of them). He was 0 for 6, with 4 strikeouts and one walk. In the 1990 World Series, he only batted once in Game 1 in Cincinnati, striking out. When his turn came up in the fifth, he was removed for a pinch-hitter. They lost. He pitched Game 4 in Oakland, and they alternated the DH based on home team that year, so he didn't bat. He pitched a complete game 2-1 loss, as the Reds completed the sweep.

    • @easyenetwork2023
      @easyenetwork2023 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reds were just the better team obviously. Thinking if the NL had the DH that year, would Reds have been even better that year maybe. Imagine if the 1975-1976 Reds had a DH. Talk about dominant and a lineup no one ever from any era would want to face.

    Marge Schott 1 CRAZY old lady

    • @TMC1982Part2
      @TMC1982Part2 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marge Schott was like the female baseball version of Donald Sterling, the deposed owner of the Los Angeles Clippers. What I mean is that they both were known for being notoriously stingy (the key difference however, is that the Reds for the most part, were actually good despite of Schott) and their bull-headed racist tendencies.

    It's a shame this league ruined this sport. This was the only league where you actually earned a playoff spot by winning. In all the other sports all you had to do was finish at .500 and you're in essentially. In baseball you had to win your division.

      CBS fucked up when they fired Musburger, then chose asshole Jack Buck over Dick Stockton or Sean McDonough.
      Not that ABC did much better with Keith Jackson as its #1 for all those years. Jackson was a living legend doing college football. He was far from it doing baseball.

Then actually strained his groin the next year and retired. Then a year later had the gall to claim new age players are soft. Pssht these young cats, would never make it in 2023
