    BSD is still my go to, particularly considering the above average amount that I go through compared to most hobbyists.

    I haven't had a chance to test out the CoOp eggs yet, but from what I can see the separation rate is something that would sell me on their product. When I have more tanks, I definitely will get brine going again!

    Do you treat your water before it goes in the hatchery? Or do you just fill it out of the tap?

      Fill straight out of the tap

    • @WeldonTanks
      @WeldonTanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know when I first started it was a complicated process but want to show that it is simple and applicable. After talking with others I want to make a video dedicated to brine shrimp for people that don’t have fish rooms or not breeding a bunch of fish.

    Just tried a competitor and had the same separation problem you had. I’m back to co-op eggs despite the price tag difference! Co-op eggs all the way.

  • @hunterbrown7200

    I’ve been using the brine shrimp direct eggs for several years and currently have about 5 ounces left of the premium eggs from them. I plan to try the co-ops once I finish these up. But I’ve always had good luck with these. I got the ziss hatchery and had bad lunch and didn’t have a hatch result like I normally did before

    • @WeldonTanks
      @WeldonTanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what would have caused a bad hatch. I have hatched the rest of my premium grade eggs with no issues in the Ziss Hatcher

    I noticed that the aquarium co-op one little longer to hatch and the shrimp themselves were smaller in size whereas the brine shrimp direct ones are much bigger in size. I agree that separate of eggs/brine shrimp was definitely better with aquarium co-op. I'm current using aquarium co-op but I will switch back to brine shrimp direct once this batch is over.

    • @WeldonTanks
      @WeldonTanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have had problems if I let the coop eggs go longer than 24 hours. 24 hours is my sweet spot in getting a great hatch.

    • @meadowoodaquatics7278
      @meadowoodaquatics7278 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WeldonTanks Same thing I'm realizing too. It also depends on the container that I'm using. I just use bottles, the thinner the walls of the bottles I can keep the eggs longer there for hatching.

    The separation is huge!!! With a long dropper I can harvest brine as needed 24-48 hours after setup! Giving fresh brine shrimp over a longer period of time!

    Good video. I really feel the same type of hatching solution should have been used on each brand of eggs. Possibly rock salt on each brand, then a hatch using the salt mix. You need to be fair about this. Even an addition of a small amount of magnesium (Epsom salt) can help the hatching.

    • @WeldonTanks
      @WeldonTanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hatched hundreds of batches with both salt and same result. In my opinion I got the better result from the coop eggs.

  • @tvideo1189
    @tvideo1189 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You blew the comparison when you used a different hatching mixture. If you are using the Co-Op eggs and their salt mixture, you did not factor buying that salt into either the price comparison nor the egg separation comparison. Use the same salt mix for both and see what happens.

    • @WeldonTanks
      @WeldonTanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Used the same salt mix plenty of times, same results. I did not factor the price of the salt in because you can use whatever type of salt you want.
      Using their salt and using rock salt has not affected hatch rates on either brand.

    Just do the math... you get over 3x the amount with BSD eggs even if they dont have as good separation. You should be using a sieve anyways to separate the shrimp and eggs

    The price is almost double lol. And brine shrimp direct #the left jar had 3 times better hatching rate. Check out : father fish and Fish guy. Channels they are not subsidized by Co-op.

    • @WeldonTanks
      @WeldonTanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aquarium co op does not pay me to show their products. I can say whatever it is I choose to say regarding a product and show what I feel works well. And I even said both eggs have a great hatch rate, the separation of egg is better. As for the price we are comparing different sizes of jars for sale which obviously has a different price point. More product in a jar more the cost is going to be. You also have to take into account that not everyone who wants to hatch brine shrimp needs a 8oz jar.
