- A ride aboard this beautifully preserved and privately owned 1974 GMC Fishbowl model T6H-4523A numbered and painted as Milwaukee Transit #1942. Bus is powered by the two stroke Detroit Diesel 6V71N engine and the Allison VS2-6 transmission.
No. It was recorded in Seattle Washington. This bus is privately owned in Seattle and he took a few fans for a ride on it the day this was recorded.
I remember the San Juan 1976 AMA units with this pitch
When fully loaded, these buses could not climb bernard street to the south hill of Spokane. Some of us would get off and walk up to get on again. This was especially bad when Lewis and Clark High School let out. They would often double up buses when school let out. One time a new bus was following, and when the first bus was floored and couldn't go any further, they had us overload the new bus, which made the hill, then we separated between the two buses again.

Great video!! Sounds pretty healthy except for that flare going into overdrive at 1:19
Thanks! That is actually quite common for the VS2-6 transmission going into overdrive.
OK. I drive for a Transit System where many of these buses still run and we are paid by the minute, so I guess I never worried about it that much. Either way, I used to get both newer Low Floors and the old Fishbowls on a run that I used to drive late last yuear and I always still got back to the garage at the same time regardless of the vehicle type I had on that run.
@coreyprkr2005 - Some did have power steering depending on the transit system. All of Calgary's remaining GMC New Looks are power steering equipped.
They ride nicer and handle nicer than the new crap buses of today. I know... I drive the newer stuff for a living and we still have lots of these old GM buses in service and I highly doubt anything of today will last 30+ years of service compared!
I would rather drive those old buses myself.
That's Seattle alright. I recognize the style of king county metro
Those Seattle seats are not original to this bus. This bus is a former Spokane Transit Authority unit.
I ment the buses it was passing
Sorry I miss-understood.
No problem
Do you mind elaborating why you would hate to drive one of these old buses?
En México a estos camiones les dicen "Chimecos"
was this taken in Spokane WA
dont get me wrong, i do miss these buses from bak n da day, but i like new buses better cuz GMC fishbowls didnt have no power steering
wat new buses yall got?

Where was this at?
Seattle area!
