  • Leading this coal train was UP 8322 with UP 6231 pushing from behind.. They were headed south along the Mississippi River and needed to clear the way for CP 2816 who was heading north..

With the EDGX cars, that trains heading towards the power plant in my city of Sheboygan, WI, the Edgewater Power Plant owned by Alliant Energy. They were going to shut the plant down, but thankfully they reconsidered and it will stay operating, but will covert it up gas. I'll miss the trains, but at least we'll have reliable energy.👍🇺🇲

Good to see some EMD power up front! Seems like all the big railroads are in love with the GE Evo units.

EMDs stumbles & failings with the SD50 & 90/43 really crushed their reputation. Marginal success of the GP/SD60 and very solid SD70 platform saved EMD from completely disappearing. The 1010 prime mover still isn't as good as GEs (Wabco) have been the past 20 years.

I counted 116 with both the puller and pusher Engines. Am I close? I do wonder how many crossings it was crossing besides that one.. A drone shot from above would have really cool to see... wow.. Thank you for sharing

That's about right, very common PRB set up for UP. BNSF runs 2+1 with 110-120 cars on former NP route thru E. Montana & Dakotas

Wow! Can you imagine that EMD SD60 Running down the rails of E&LS through Michigan and Wisconsin? I'm not sure our tracks could handle all that power, but it would be nice to see them try! One impressive piece of equipment for sure.

CPKC 852. Empties returning to the mines for more coal. It will take the Union Pacific at Clinton. Plus the train took the siding at Lake North(around the bend) to meet 2816.

I retired from Southern Pacific right at the time the Union Pacific acquired it. I remember well how the U.P. locos were so uncomfortable compared to the S.P. The U.P. were more Gestapo to the employees as well. UP=👎

EOT helper is DPU. It is common on the PRB unit trains to have no mid-train DPU. No mountains to climb from eastern Wyoming to Midwest.
