Me too!! I grew up towards the end of that era and it was a sad sight when units started showing up in just plain red. One of the problems with that scheme is painting it around the complex rear radiator section of modern units so it looks right.
CP called it the "Multi-Mark". It was used on more than just the trains and the colours changed depending on which division it was (hotels, ships, freight, trains, etc).
The bland bell was probably bought from the dollar store in order to match the El-Cheapo paintscheme, no thanks to most likely the cheapskate shareholders.
Wow.. that's quite an amazing video! Capturing the raw footage had to take all day! Drone footage was pretty neat too. Thank you for such an awesome job!
Nice catches. In the future, people will get excited to see a CP or KCS unit still in their colors when the CPKC paint schemes get more common. It may be cool at first, but eventually it'll get common.
Congrats on a great video . Excellent combo of drone and ground work . The new paint scheme is absolutely stunning . We love it and we like your work . We'll be watching you . Your new fans in the Great White North 🇨🇦
Excellent video! Drone views and driving beside the train was cool. Im a cp rail fan but i like the new corporate paint scheme. Like someone else commented I'm still a pacman emblem guy
Lots of CPKC activity where I live..Dawn, Mo. They has a derailment and tore up miles of track, then while here they laid bigger rail and putting in a 2 mile siding Between Dawn and Chillicothe.
@@MattTheUPRailfan2006 Meanwhile CN is looking at this paintscheme and probably thinking how "Imitation is the finest form of flattery." It's a mirror image of CN so they can call it "CN 2.0".
Honestly Option 5 would for been better to fit the CPKC officail paint scheme because it also had KCS colors...but knowing CPKC, they chose the bland option 1😢
Honestly I like this one the most because a simple scheme like this doesn't take away from the logo on the sides, most of the other ones just felt like there was too much going on. The KCS Belle scheme was great don't get me wrong, but out of the options I think this one works pretty well.
Agree with you 💯. Option 5 was the closest to the KCS livery and would have been the ideal choice IMO. But of course the shareholders -- oops -- sorry -- I mean the "employees" chose the cheapest livery (Option 1) out of the five and is a slap in the face to KCS.
Idea: Their can be a few large Class 1 Railroad Companies, but there should also be Lots of smaller Class 2 & Class 3 Railroad Companies who serve the companies and communities who don’t have access to the Big 6. And if one or more of the Big 6 should ever fail, the Class 2’s & Class 3’s can pick up the slack.
The paint scheme looks more like a glorified Canadian Pacific on steroids rather than anything resembling the Kansas City Southern which was more colourful with it's classic red yellow and black. The yellow is totally removed. This is a Canadian gig now.
To me the paintscheme was picked by the shareholders because it was the cheapest livery out of the five options and is a mirror image of CN in some ways. I just call it "CN 2.0".
That CPKC Looks Very Nice!!I Think CPKC Stand For Canadian Pacific Kansas City Southern,Canadian Pacific And Kansas City Southern Works ⚒ Together As Teammates.
Excellent work on the video!! The livery is another thing. It is a bit underwhelming. It looks more like KCS merged with CN than CP. Perhaps we will see some variations of this paint scheme down the road.
My dad, my grandfather, my great grandfather all worked for KCS and retired there. So I'm not a fan of the new livery. The beaver logo with no nod to the KCS herald hurts a little.
Yeah I definitely get that, on its own ignoring the heritage it's a nice scheme, but when you factor that in it definitely is lacking. Personally I would've been more into finding something completely new like BN and BNSF both did on those respective mergers.
First gotta say, Like how you filmed and edited it, just the sounds of the train and environment and the narration. Okay, I gotta ask, how were you able to chase this Train down in such a way that you even did it with a Drone? And with a car, were there multiple people involved.
That's right, the CPKC Option 1 livery didn't do the KCS livery any justice. In fact, IMO, it's a slap in the face to KCS. And these "employees" that CEO Keith Creel talked about that would pick the paintscheme were most likely shareholders -- choosing the cheapest paintscheme out of the five options. I was hoping that CPKC would be better than this. Guess not. The Option 1 El-Cheapo bottom dollar livery prevailed. And CPKC simply doesn't care. My take on that. If others like the new paintscheme, that's fine, but I'm out.
If CPkc doesn't due a better job of keeping their engines clean, they will end up being just a red and black blob. Otherwise they still look like CP engines with very little notice of Kansas City Southern except for the "KC" which really just refers to "Kansas City", not the Kansas City Southern. This looks more like a purchase rather than a merger! It needs more yellow, orange and black to make it stand out...
Nicely caught video. The CPKC is a fast-food advertising! Name should remain very much the same as what it was in 1881, Canadian Pacific RR. Along with logo and paint colors. Anything else, such as CPKC, etc, etc are nonsense drivel. Unless CP a 140+ year old Class 1 Rail Road System is seeking to become known as fast foods Jokes. Great jokes for attracting variety of freight and passenger customers too. Yes remember history of Kansas City Southern and Trasporto Ferroviera Mexicana, as part of CP Canadian Pacific. Keep Canadian Pacific name. Why would say, Union Pacific, etc, etc purge their name and history? Nice to discover Union Pacific restored Big Boy steam locomotive to operational condition. As did Canadian Pacific 2816 Empress an touring CAN, US, MEX
Saw CPKC unit coming into south side Calgary Ab city limits track is along side the LRT station. And NO locomotive did NOT wave back. And did NOT throttle back. Like why ? Son is being told to take the train out with NO condictor on the train. Lol. It throttle ahead. Saftey major in Rail strike but MSM not telling us the real Truth.
This livery does look better when two locos wearing it are back-to-back
I guess that's why they chose it
Nah bro is for the livery💀💀
Reminds me of the old Pac-Man scheme. Maybe that was part of the inspiration
They do look pretty cool.
Agreed, I think if it was only 1 and then a KCS locomotive it would look off, but both painted in CPKC paired together goes hard
still miss CP's old 'pac man' livery
It’s growing on me, although I think I’d like it more if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s replacing the southern belle
They keeping the old railroad reporting marks on repainted units? I love where this is going.
its like they took the KCS scheme, tilted the stripe to a angle, enlarged it, and moved it to the rear so as only 1 yellow stripe is showing
It’s AWVR 767!!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️
This was an absolute gorgeous video. Great work. Me personally, the new CPKC paint and design is awesome.
This video is a masterpiece! The chase was brilliant 👏🏿
I hope they do SD70s in this livery
great coverage, very enjoyable, i'd never see this through my kitchen window, so thank you very much, will be checking your videos.
the bell on the train sounds like it’s dying but great shots

Lovely Coverage
Wow! Excellent drone footage, very smooth flying and great positioning to capture the train and the local scenery, especially the water. Subscribed!
I was at train days in St. Paul MN and saw the lead loco on display so I find cool how they managed to get it to Iowa and put it on a train
Me too
So did I! I passed through St. Paul on the eastbound Empire Builder that morning.
Excellent video! Drone views and driving beside the train was cool. Im a cp rail fan but i like the new corporate paint scheme. Like someone else commented I'm still a pacman emblem guy
Still should have the chosen the name
Canadian Pacific &

Looks real good back to back...I was always griping that it needs more red and black up around the cab. But overall I like it.

1:11 good to see some Canadian power in the states 😃
It's everywhere now ever since the merger
Excellent production. Love the video work and narration. Keep up the hard work!
Interesting, as I haven't seen this yet in Canada.
I realize that everyone has their opinion, though I think the new scheme looks good. It will be cool to see this paint spread through the system.
This CPKC paint scheme is identical to that of the Brazilian company VL!, only the colors change.
Finally! Someone actually knows how to research. Was tired of people saying it’s CN or AWVR.
@@SteelRodent6061 It's AWVR approved 🤣
So it’s not identical

The livery looks fab in my opinion - lovely footage!
Kept the old Milwaukee road train numbers after all this time.
Wow absolutely amazing video! Just subscribed!
There around 11:00 the pair does look grand, pops out actually, between the green grass and blue sky.
Nice Ekyrail bell on it.
I like the new scheme. However, I was hoping for something more unique than just adding a black tail to the current CP paint scheme.
It almost looks similar to CN Rail's rear tail swatch on their locomotives.
10:18 bro what is that bell.
Sharp looking paint scheme. Can't wait to see it on an EMD
Great looking units. Great video.
They get around. This pair just went through BC eastbound yesterday pulling the 100 stack train to Toronto.
Good catch man. With my luck, by the time I finally catch them they will be all rusty and almost falling apart… 🤪
Beautiful shots, subscribed. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Plenty more projects on the way.
Those locos would look real sharp with silver trucks!😊
New livery does look great, but still a fan of the original.😊
Great video. The car chase clip was brilliant.

Nice Video! Was starting to wonder if we were ever gonna see that paint scheme
I like the simplified paint job and the CPKC name change (like BNSF but hate BNSF’s paint job)!
Finally a clean beaver.
it reminds me of the AWVR trains from unstoppable!
I still wonder tho if it will be like BNSF where we will eventually see like 4 paint schemes lol
I used to say that BNSF's goal was to have as many liveries as it had locomotives. 🤣
Very snappy.
What great shots 😅😅!!!
Gorgeous.
Fantastic!
Amazing video. You deserve more subs!
Great Video, what is the original RailRoad livery?
Hi there, if you don't mind me asking, is it ok if I use ur video for an article I'm writing on the new CPKC Livery? (I'll be sure to credit you)

I think their design consultant packed it in on this one. To me they could have done more with this.
I'd like the old yellow and black stripes down the side but I'm not painting them
i like the colors .

Excellent! Great scenes and terrific pacing sequences. Did you use a gimbal for the pacing ? It was unbelievably steady.
Yep, this was the first run of the gimbal and I'd have to say I'm excited for what's to come!
