The harrier is actually a very customisable car in Japan... You could choose whether you wanted sunroof, perforated leather seats of fabric seats and such... That's why it's sometimes quite hard to differentiate the trim levels

Very nice of Medan Quantum to offer you the cars for reviews. I think it's a good arrangement, let you review their cars, helps them with the advertising. I drive pass the same showroom you got the first Harrier everyday, along Jalan Jelatek prior to getting up onto DUKE, and I haven't thought of checking them out (too many car showroom out there). Will drop by when I am looking for recond cars next time!

I could never understand why Toyota UMW won't bring in this car. It's so popular that folks would go get them as recon model, with limited 1 year warranty, and it's not exactly cheap if you are going for the top spec, newest possible model. I can buy a showroom Merc GLC 250 for RM280k...
Toyota didn't bring in the Yaris to challenge the Jazz, didn't bring in the RAV4 to challenge the CRV, didn't bring in the Alphard Vellfire until it was too late, didn't even have a challenger to the HRV until next year. ....
Very head scratching right? To actively not compete in a segment that has demands...
It is as if their top wigs are so comfortable with just the bread and butter models (Vios etc) and prefer to just rest on their laurels. My friend wanted to buy the GT86 but since UMW no longer sell it, he went for the Subaru BRZ instead, which is understandable as it's not likely a bread and butter model selling like hot cakes (hmm..a stylish RWD coupe for 200k, should be good seller...)
I think UMW will bring in this car soon, seeing that the facelifted Harrier (with the 2.0L Turbo engine same as the Lexus NX) has just been officially launched in Singapore by Borneo Motors, the Toyota authorized distributor there. It marks the first time that the Harrier is officially sold outside Japan.
I heard that potentially the Harrier will be officially available in Indonesia too.
umw toyota specs in malaysia sucks badly..you see the new vellfire,it doesnt have the 360 camera for a big car.Instead the put the 360 camera on a vios,HOW IDIOT IS THAT PERSON IN THE UMW TOYOTA HQ WHO CHOOSE THE SPECS...plus in japan the vellfire have autoparking,auto headlamp,lots of power adapter and pre collision assist..In malaysia none

When you reverse , it actually says which direction have obstacle , based on my basic japanese skills . Very unique feature .

Come to think of it,i think this recon models are better valued than the all new Ckd turbo harrier..as low as 130k is attainable rather than splurging xtra 120k just to get 5year warranty

Hi Bobby, would u personally spend an extra 30k for the CX-9? I personally thinks the Mazda CX-9 shld definitely on the shopping list of those looking at the Harrier.
Definitely. If a Camry 2.0 to 2.4 is rm40k apart, the small difference for a full two size larger car is worth it.

Good review. Since this is a grey import car, you should ask about servicing the harrier. Do they provide service as well, and how much does a typical service cost, what is the recommended service interval etc.

Actually yes. This car is more comfy and feels more expensive than thr Accord. And if both are around the same price, this might have a higher residual next time.
