@carnagereputation No. the lead singer does not do the voice of Mr Burns. The bass player does. Harry Shearer. But yes, they are american except for Christopher Guest (Nigel) he's English import. Tap rules.
They both were and were not a real band....at the same time. They DID write their own songs and they DID play the instruments and they put on an absolutely incredible stage show! That makes them a real band as far as I'm concerned. They could hardly have been any better at what they were doing.
