My dad, he used to play this all the time on his guitar. Any time he'd break it out I'd ask him to play 'Rising Sun'. So, this song has a massively significant importance to my life. It is hands down my favorite song, and I collect nearly every version I hear. I know this song inside and outside. So when I say that this is one of the best takes on this song, I absolutely mean it. You took an already powerful and dark song and made it darker and more powerful. You guys have my utmost respect.
I found this group and love their arrangement. They're both so unique!! (I grew up in this generation ) I thought since you collect different arrangements here it is: th-cam.com/video/2S9KipZ5F_g/w-d-xo.html I wrote them; they answered overnight. I was surprised. Enjoy!
I have a similar connection to this song and my father. We used to collect all the different versions. Made a CD back in the day of a bunch of covers, and nowadays with internet, enjoyed sending each other different covers we'd find on TH-cam. He passed away last year suddenly, and I miss him a lot, and well, miss being able to share treasures such as this especially.
Lots of people have covered this song but this is the first rendition that I think does justice to how musically powerful the original is. I think calling your guys' version a cover is an injustice to how powerful and amazing your version is.
Melodicka bros. Being actual musicians, unlike the cardi b types, don't so covers. What real musicians do are called transpositions. Because the other types are imitators, they just copy, so it's a "cover". Whilst real musicians know their instruments, playstyle, voice range etc are all different, so they adapt the score for their instruments to do it properly.
To be fair, there is no 'original' version of this song. This song has evolved over a looong time. The classic interpretation from the Animals is just the most iconic one.
@@Gugenbichler exactly. this song has been around for such a long time and has gone through so many iterations that it would make total sense for a cover like this one to come along and change the vibe completely, as its been done many times with this very song
@@DixonsCider I know it probably wasn't your intention but this reads so pretentious. I don't believe in such a thing as a "real musician" in the way you describe.
A true storytellers' rendition. The music supports the vocals and the vocals convey all the right emotional nuances-- it's enthralling. Also, the moment when the bass and percussion begin is transcendent. I could listen to that all day and still get goosebumps from the lush dark tone of them driving the song forward.
I love the beautiful sense of tension rising and falling throughout the song; there's almost a dread anticipation in his voice, and the way the instrumentals and vocals were interpreted was on point! It was distinct from all the other versions I've heard without sacrificing the gut familiarity that makes the song so iconic. It really is just beautiful.
This song happens to be a personal favorite of mine, I have heard almost all the covers. Nothing beats the original in my opinion. That being said, This happens to be the best cover I have heard. Well done.
Anybody else have songs that they must have every version that's been done? Knockin' on Heaven's Door is one, and House of the Rising Sun is the other. I must have 18 versions of this, but this by far has become my new #1. Thank you, Eric Burdon, but you are now my #2.
Очень бережное и трепетное отношение к Духу этой песни. К сожалению, сейчас редко кто так может. Но к счастью, в наш Мир ещё приходят те, кто бережно и с трепетом несёт Дух Музыки. Удачи вам в ваших трудах.
@@christiandauz3742 FFDP version is horrible. The Brand New Sin cover is great, and of course...you can't beat the original recorded Animals version; however, I loved this cover.
Have you seen/ heard the cover by Leo Moracchioli (Frogleap Studios) ? If not....treat yourself! This version is haunting and very beautiful...Leo's version ROCKS.
Wow, I don't usually like covers of this song, preferring the Animals to any other, but this blew me away. You really captured the spirit of the song and gave it new life. Well done. This moves to the top of my list.
The reason the animals version hit so hard back in the day, is that they were legit the first guys to put such raw anguish, pathos and suffering GENUINELY into their music. Eric bogle? Might have been singing an anecdotal story about new Orleans in the lyrics, but everyone KNEW he was actually singing about growing up middle / lower class.
I've learned it really depends on the cover. Just about any cover muse has done has either been so fundamentally different in tone and overall style that it's hard to compare to the original (feeling good) or a relatively faithful cover with typical muse flair ( please please please let me get what I want). Bad covers in my mind are things like 5 finger death punch taking The offspring's "gone away" and stripping it of every emotional nuance other than anger. It's a song about dealing with the loss of someone and the stages of grief, and while the words are still there in 5fdp, the orchestration and impact is void so it just feels cheap
When I think of the Wild West, I think of the music of Johnny Cash, the acting of Clint Eastwood, and the many covers of this timeless song. Bravo to the incredible band.
Holy shit, this hits like a train, starts out slow, and pulls you in, and then boom it explodes with just the right amount of tension and soothes back down as to not spoil the feel of the song, it all tied together so well, absolutely amazing
I can hardly put it into words. I've seen singers with really amazing voices and range fail at simple songs. I think that superficially simple songs are the toughest ones when it comes to standing out without doing anything crazy. Ballads, especially in rock, but also folk will always have a special place in my heart. No matter if simple, or fancy, they usually show how much a singer is actually capable...
Perfect! The instruments, the adaptation of the melody, the voice, the scenery, the SETTING SUN!!! Spot on! Just beautiful. Definitely going straight to my listen-on-repeat playlist
my favorite cover next to 5 finger death punch, love how this song can be portrayed is so many different ways and still feel just as original as THE original!
This cover needs to be featured in a Western! by the time it was done, I wanted a pair of six-guns, a stetson, a pale horse, and a dirt street to mosey down.
Truly phenomenal cover by two very talented brothers who are so versatile and each of whom can play multiple instruments. This version is an excellent rendition that has not only emotion, energy and vibe, but meaning to it, in the way it portrays the regret and lament of the person of whom the song is about. Many contemporary musicians lack such an ability to interpret a song properly, and rely on energy and vibe alone. This is spot on.
Can I just say that I love your covers cause they usually fit one specific feeling I need during writing and certain songs get so much more deeper when you change their tone/genre? You guys rock!
Someone: sad and dramatic songs can't be improved. Melodica Bros: bring in tragedy, despair and dark country Everyone: 😭 Fantastic work guys, this is one song to shatter many hearts
this feels like this song was always meant to be sung this way - lyrics are pretty dark already, so this version matches that perfectly! thx for a new favourite song!!
i grew up outside new orleans and have always been a fan of this song. not only did you knock it outta the park, but this might be better than the original
You guys always come when my life turns for the worse, For me it means a turn of weather ,or good luck. Thank you melodika bros this is one of my all time favorite songs for all of my life.
I've loved this song for as long as I've loved music. I love Bob Dylan's version, I love Nina Simone's version, I love the Animal's version. I love this American folk song, and I love hearing this interpretation, it's beautiful, thank you. If someone has the tablature/notation for the guitar in this interpretation I can work out a trade and would be eternally grateful! Edit: Favorite cover of an American Folk song is an interpretation from Italian artists.
Definitely made this his own! Had on repeat. I love the dark vibe you captured with this and other than the original it will be the only other version in my playlist! Amazing job!
Man, I absolutely love this cover. Heard it when it was released, but just kept coming back to it time and again, so had to drop a line. Thanks, you pasta-master-musician-magicians!
Truly awesome cover! I remeber discovering this channel with "quirky covers" good for a few laughs, but now these covers are becoming legit epic and artistic rock song interpretations. Great stuff guys!
I found this yesterday... when the bass came in and hit that third note with the bells and timbrel on top of it I instantly fell in love with the vibe... forgot to hit like :D
Pretty rare for you guys to do a cover in the style the song already is, but I think you managed to make it even better. It's like you doubled the moodiness and bluesy goodness the way you did it. Good job. As a side note, Joe I think a derby hat would suit you nicely, maybe a bowler hat for Dave.
Sounded a bit like Spanish guitar early on. I expected it would lean into that as the song went on, but instead it layered in that standing bass and an electric guitar wonderfully enhancing the moodiness with each. Nice.
the guitar parts, the low notes, the colours and atmosphere in the video... this is really enchanting
Thank you. That right there is the word I couldn't think of, to describe this…. "Enchanting".
What Lisa said!
Don’t forget the mad face at the end 😀
Ale mrrrook!

I’m wanted in thirteen states for vehicular manslaughter. But the song really cool and actually kinda comforting.
I absolutely adore the feel this cover gives. Hell I wouldn't even call this a cover, this is a revision.
Heck*
Christ revision is pretty tall.. but tell you what this is good...
A new iteration*
a revelation!
it's a word for word copy, so it is called a cover. Nothing much original about this though.

The last third of the song, I just kept getting chills over and over again. Absolutely gorgeous ❤
