    The thing that is so beautiful about marimba literature is how interpretive you can be. This piece in particular can either be played rather energetically such as this rendition (almost expressing a deep joy for nature) or more contemplative and rubato. Both ways are exquisite and gorgeous!

    I much prefer this faster tempo as compared to the slower feel a lot more people choose. It sounds more alive and breathing.

  • @PitSectionLeader

    This is an absolutely beautiful solo piece for Marimba. She performed it wonderfully with skill and grace. As someone who has performed this piece, I can say that it requires a good amount of dedication and careful practice. There are beautiful melodic ideas that are going on in the piece. I personally would perform it at a slower tempo just to provide a more tranquil sense to it although I think that this tempo added a sense of liveliness to it that worked amazingly. Overall wonderful performance!

      how difficult would you say this piece is? Is it do-able for a sophmore in highschool? perhaps at a slower tempo?

    • @SuperJonrocks
      @SuperJonrocks 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      An advanced 10th grader could do this at a slower tempo. Its pretty difficult though.

    • @PitSectionLeader
      @PitSectionLeader 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As slickster511 said, at a slower tempo this piece is definitely possible for a sophomore. As long as the student puts in careful practice, practices it slowly and really lets the music sink into his/her muscle memory.

    Absolutely Beautiful. Sort of island sound with a hint of some type of disney magic and a sprinkle of classical too; wonderful and romantic and great ending. Love and Peace to all lifeforms on this Earth and this type of music and styles like it, should be played everywhere to shift the energies and consciousness to the masses; to replace anger, hate and such to one of love, peace, harmony and unity. Love Chris

      I listened to both performances. I respect each performer. I prefer Jisu Jung's attacking it, almost blindfolded (!). There is a vibrancy in her playing that I just don't get from Capasso.

    • @ybooby
      @ybooby 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I agree. This one is much more fluid. Capasso almost sounds clunky. Not to say he didn't play well. If I were learning this piece Jisu's performance would be my reference. Aside from that, are there a metronome indications in the score, or just a subjective adjective?

      Noah Franklin I love the rubato, and I think feeling the music to convey the overall message is the most important part however, there are some rich harmonies here which require even more ‘pull and push’ in my opinion, other than that it’s a lovely interpretation:)
