My percussion director was talking about how no one plays the marimba sitting down and that posture was important. I was all like "*cough* *cough* PIUS *cough* *cough* CHEUNG" lol. You and Casey are GODS.
GRANDISSIMO TI HO VISTO IN CONCERTO A FERMO, E SEI STATO UNO DEI MUSICISTI CHE PIU' MI HA SCIOCCATO IN TALENTO, IL SUONARE LA MARIMBA COME UN PIANISTA.........., ED IL TUTTO DA SEDUTO MA CON UNA ELEGANZA ROMANTICA OTTOCENTESCA
Your recording makes my recording and everyone else's on TH-cam look childish. xD That was amazing! You captured the musicality of the piece so well! Keep writing awesome stuff, I'm a huge fan!
3:10 that last chord really sounding like the _Law & Order Special Victims Unit_ *DUN DUN* sound effect 😳😩👌🏻 but for real excellent piece and performance
This is my favorite marimba piece and I only have a 4.3 octave marimba so I’m kinda sad I can’t learn this but I have a questions..if everything was up an octave could it be played on a 4.3 octave
What's the reason for sitting while you play? I'm a freshman in college as a percussion performance and education major and I have never seen that. I'm just curious
I saw Pius speak at Ithaca College a few years ago, and he mentioned he sat simply because he used to get nervous while performing and his knees would start shaking. Sitting was the easiest way for him to rectify this issue.
essa música é estranha, eu não sei porque o meu professor de percussão disse para ver esse vídeo. Mais vale ouvir aquela chinesa de fones a tocar na marimba o Believer.
I love this writing so much. Definitely top 3 marimba solos of all time. Sets a high bar for marimba repertoire

haha.... Thanks. But I remember liking yours too. Thank YOU for playing my piece. :)
For me this is the most beautiful piece for solo marimba ever written. In its shortness, complexity and emotional intensity.
Amazing playing. I'm ordering the graduated set of your mallets this weekend. Would love if they came with a cool scarf too. :)
This piece always amazes me. Every single time I watch it. Thank you!
I could hear how hard the mallets were, and how soft they were. Such a powerful message. Music that speaks through the mind and body, to the soul.
Very nice composition and performance!!!! Bravo Pius Cheung, you are a great artist!!!
Somehow i really want to hear this transcribed to piano
I’m working on it right now!!
@@rowenfowler5638 any updates?

No it couldn’t you would run out of notes on the top
@@josephgonzalez4020 what if it was a 4.5 octave marimba
@@evo34564 4.5 octave marimbas don't extend the range upward at all, so no
you could, just for the higher parts you would have to jump down the octave, then jump back up on the lower. i’m playing it on a 4.3

I'm playing this solo next year and, if you don't mind me asking, what mallets do you use? They sound great.
Innovative Percussion, Pius Cheung series. :) Those are the graduated set. Check them out. :)
musicmpc Thank you very much!
musicmpc What 4 mallet grip are you using for this solo?
hey dude can I contact u somehow?
What tempo is this played at
Reminds me of Scriabin a bit
I see that you are using the Pius Cheung Graduated set but are you using birch or rattan?
I use rattan. Thanks for checking.
Any recommendations for learning this peace?
