Thank you for including SELENA in this icons. As Latina myself I’m very happy that our roots is something that makes us proud, because most of Us love color in our wardrobe.🥰🧣👠👗
I'm a Latina too and I agree with you. We live close to the city where Selena lived and two years ago we visited the Selena's museum. Her Dad and Sister were there and her Sister stoped to talk to my husband and pet our little Chihuahua dog. She was very kind and sweet. My daughter and I cry looking at Selena's clothing and belonings. Is still hard to know that her young beautiful life was cut short for no reason!
I like Audrey discovered her right before she died. I was so upset because I had plans to see her sing! I agree her smile was a great asset we women need to realize is the best thing to wear... a smile.
As a Queens girl myself, I loved Fran Drescher on The Nanny. I had the same coloring and I felt like she made dark hair, fair skin, and red lips pretty as I lived in a world obsessed with suntans and blonde hair. She really is a modern-day Lucille Ball. Her facial expressions and body language was very Lucy-like.
Audrey please can we have a video dedicated to trousers covering everything- the styles, colours, season appropriate, materials, fit etc... please. Big hug from India
As a viewer just as apprehensive about deviating from neutrals, I have been enjoying your exploration into incorporating color. It suits you and I feel, brings out how lively and lovely you are!
I grew up watching “The Nanny” and I loved Fran’s style. I do this…I will watch retro movies-and even tv shows-for style inspired. Also, “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” This next one might be a diff. choice, and I am not into horror movies, but the wife in “Jaws.”
I also saw Fran Drescher and couldn't click fast enough! I discovered The Nanny years after it aired because much of my adult life, I didn't have a TV (I'm 65). My sister sent me the entire series on DVD and I wore them out, literally! I think back on many a scene (which I know by ❤) and laugh out loud- very helpful in pandemic depression moments! Anyhoo, this video really made me think about Lauren Bacall as my style icon influence. I am going to start looking up her movies to get more ideas for my style and see what develops. Thank you for thinking up this theme for fashion help! 💖
Hi Audrey, Yesterday, I receieved about 15 compliments on my outfit and short hairstyle the whole day while I was out and it's only because you have inspired my style. ♡
Spanning decades, my style icons would be Ingrid Bergman (the no-nonsense, make-up free style in several movies), Katherine Hepburn (comfort, trousers and wit) Marisa Berenson (for the long curly hair) and Cate Blanchett (for the coloring). Loved your video!
Audrey Hepburn has influenced so many of us. She's definitely one of my style icons, but most my others are icons of the 80s and 90s: Winona Ryder, Princess Diana, Jennifer Grey. I think they all did elevated casual very well, and that's my sweet spot.
Audrey, omg, I used to hate the sweater style you're wearing here, mockneck, ribbing, royal blue saturated color.... but it looks so gorgeous on you! Once again, you've opened my eyes that body structure, color palette and styling is everything when it comes to a piece of garment. Thank you so much for your hard work on this channel!
In this video: 1. Audrey Hepburn (namesake) 2. Maria Callas (singer) 3. Penelope Cruze (skin twin) 4. Selena Quintanilla-Pérez 5. Fran Drescher (and Fran Fine character) 6. Barbra Streisand's character in What's Up Doc 7. Jenny Cavalieri in Love Story (actress Ali MacGraw) 8. Elizabeth and Jane in Pride and Prejudice (Kiera Knightley and Rosamund Pike)
I completely forgot another favorite Star style influencer for me was the character Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) she was a major influencer ( at that time I was 33) and noticed that woman at a certain age can still dress beautiful. Her style was elegant and classic. Her leather classic handbags, silk scarfs, cashmere sweaters, silk blouses, and tailored shirts. Gorgeous and elegant. Can you please include senior woman styles, that would truly be appreciated because every woman deserves to feel pretty no matter how old she is and eventually we will all cross that bridge.
What a great suggestion. As a Gen-Xer, I knew her first as an older actress. She definitely had good style in MSW. (I wish more women dressed like that today.) But years later, I was positively floored when I discovered her ability to pull off full-tilt glamour in The World of Henry Orient - not my favorite movie, but her wardrobe in it is amazing. She's just one of those people with enormous artistic range, which shows up in her choice of roles, as well as her fashion.
This was such a great video, Audrey. I had the pleasure of meeting Ali McGraw several times as she was a regular customer at London Sole. She is very elegant and gracious in person too. I love her style and how it changed when she moved to New Mexico. Lots of love! xx
I love Fran Drescher. When I was a kid in the 90s and I’d watch the nanny I just thought she was stunning. I loved her tights with short skirts and that’s one of my go to looks to this day. This was such a great video.
Great video! I would love to see you discuss the fashion in the Queen’s Gambit, Audrey. I’m certain you would love the styles. I would wear anything from the last 3 or so episodes in a heartbeat. The clothes have that perfect classic mod look, just so beautiful!
Thalia Williams I absolutely loved the The Queen's Gambit (great story) but often got distracted by the gorgeous fashion. I've started sewing garments for myself since Covid and I just couldn't stop looking at those clothes! Beautiful!
Good call. I'm designing a shirt for my female line. Featuring style icons. I wanted to jus go off memory but I finally broke down and started looking up stuff. Totally forgot about Jackie O. She wuz a major fashion icon. Thanks
As a white girl who grew up watching The Cosby Show, I always loved her style. Just a day or two ago, I was thinking about my lackluster wardrobe and one of her outfits came to mind. It was a 'What-would-Clair-wear?' moment. She was a role model in many ways.
About YOUR style....you are so fine boned, your speaking voice is so soft, delicate, melodic and soprano, and your personality is so positive and your hair so airy and curly the first impression you make is ethereal. THe traditional definition of an ethereal type is tall, winsome, graceful, usually very light, almost white blonde , with light blue or grey eyes, nearly transparent white skin, a soft delicate floaty voice and personality reminding people of angels in the classic sense. Yet here you are, not tall, dark hair and eyes but with ALL the other characteristics of that type. I wonder how floaty fabrics would work on you, maybe in skirts, dresses and blouses...maybe in the burgundy and bottle green or navy to go with your coloring and that you love...you could marry these with your classic blazers. Something light and airy about each outfit might hint at your personality and echo your voice, hair, and graceful movement. It would give you a sparkle of individuality in your clothing to mirror your personality and demeanor, your delicacy. As my grandmother told me, play to your strengths in fashion and in life, that was great advice that propelled me forward. Abrazos!
As a teen watching Mary Tyler Moore portray an independent young working woman was pivotal in directing my style. Her wardrobe, hair, and makeup were wonderfully chic and on trend, yet always classic, well-tailored, wearable, and accessible. Nothing was overdone. MTM may have influenced a generation of working women.
I'm obviously much older than most of your readers, but Doris Day was the epitome of a classy, yet spunky female in the early 60's! Loved all her suits/dresses, shoes, and then Sandra Dee. After that, it was Dusty Springfield and Cilla Black - now it's Nicole Kidman - but always, always, always - Audrey Hepburn
I love your blog. We have very different styles, but I recognize your good taste and style. You must have the red dress made. I often get custom clothes. You can too. I’m sure there are seamstresses in your town or nearby city-you deserve your red dress. Let us know once you get your dress. Women should not fear bespoke clothing. My mother didn’t buy much, maybe 4 items a year, but they were high quality. She would buy a suit or a dress and go across the street from Nordstrom Best in Seattle where there was a shop that only did custom buttons and trim. I remember she had white grosgrain ribbon trim added to the collar, cuffs and pockets of a navy dress. Then she had the buttons replaced. I use Etsy for custom wear. The measurements include back of neck through crotch to shoulder blade, even upper, elbow circumference as well as underarm to waist and wrist. So many other measurements for different articles-pants, shorts, skirts, blouses all have separate measurements for the best fit. Three weeks later the item arrives. Only twice have I been unsatisfied and each shop accepted return for refund, even though it was made to order.
I agree. The pattern for the style is not too complex, so a good seamstress would be able to copy it exactly. Buy a good amount of red silk charmeuse...voila!
Kim Novak in the film Bell, Book and Candle - early 1950’s I think. She played a witch but an incredibly cool, glamorous one. She wore a lot of black and red including a black turtleneck and a very stylish black cape which would look fabulous today. There are other films from that era with a similar vibe. It’s not rock and roll 1950’s. There are still elements of the glamorous side of the 1940’s which were more feminine and elegant. Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief also. I think she epitomised that style.
You are becoming the classic styles of "Today's Audrey"; I am very grateful for your tireless endeavors to help and inspire people like me in discovering our own unique classic styles! You know, I really like to see you wear blue colors - they show your inner beauty and genuine charm more and more :)
Nothing looks more gorgeous than passion. I can see how passionate you are when talking about different colours and silhouettes. It's absolutely contagious ✨💙
Oh I loved this!! And I can see a little influence of each of these women in your wardrobe✨ I feel like this opened a little window into seeing things from your point of view over the years💛
Audrey Hepburn, Diane Keaton, Stevie Nicks and Janet Jackson for me. I also really love the style of Claire Underwood from the House of Cards and of course growing up in the 90s my girls from Clueless.
Oooh I love watching the character Miranda Priestly in the movie The Devil Wears Prada. I just adore her elegant and sophisticated, yet vibrant and strong style. Love it!
This is such a fabulous video, Audrey. I love seeing the style icons who have influenced your style choices. Your attention to detail and clear explanations are always so appreciate. Thank you for sharing ❤️
What a fabulous video! Thank you for sharing. I've always known who my style icons were. However, I never paused to reflect until watching your video on how they influence my personal style and what they have in common. My style icons: Jackie Kennedy Onassis (Late 1960's to Mid 1970's); Maria Callas (me too!); Grace Kelly (During the 1970s); Kerry Washington (beauty/make-up looks/skin twin); Solange (color palette and soft architecture of her clothes); and Victoria Beckham (simple shapes, neutrals, and pops of color); and Angelina Jolie (classic style on a Flamboyant/Soft Natural body).
Yes I also love thw style of Ms. Audrey Hepburn and also Queen Letizia of Spain. Because I am on the conservative and classic style. Thank you also Audrey for inteoducing this topic.
What a gorgeous video!! I found that fascinating. You have put a lot of thought into this. I would say Jackie O, Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn are my style icons. Audrey, you can't tease us like that about your singing!! Where can we go to hear you sing?
I love Princess Kate's casual style, Audrey Hepburn, and Princess Dianna. And from a more current standpoint, you and Emma Hill have been a big influence as I've started discovering my style.
I would never be able to dress like her, but I’ve always enjoyed watching Helena Bonham Carter. So true to herself and her style. Love her. Thanks for the video!
I loved this! I never really thought about sitting down and pinpointing who has really influenced my style and why. I love to journal so I think I'm definitely going to use this as a sort of prompt! And I will say, I have to whole-heartedly agree about Audrey Hepburn. Something about her and her style is just timeless. Edit: Is it strange that I think my father has had the biggest influence over my wardrobe? I've always loved his blazers, leather jackets, oxfords or wingtips, and his loafers. He always looks so effortlessly put together, and I think I try to emulate a lot of that in my own style, even down to owning many pairs of the same things I listed. Thought that it might be an interesting addition to the conversation, because I didn't realize it until I really started to think about it.
The 2005 Pride and Prejudice is my go to feel-good movie! Thank you so much for sharing. It was so nice to see you so excited about your different icons. Rose from Titanic really impacted me as a child. Just that soft but intense look that matched her character so well.
Love your video. My style icons are Françoise Hardy, Juliette Binoche, Catherine Deneuve, Claire Chazal, Inès de la Fressange and Diane Keaton. Ali Mc Graw haș aged gracefully and has a very personal dramatic style.
I *think* I have a kibbe romantic body type but I have always been drawn to the styles of victoria beckham, mary crawley in 1920s downton abbey, and other icons who have very different body types than mine. Sadly most of the clothes I would love to wear just don't work for me. I would be interested to see a video on when your style doesn't work for your body type, and tips for mixing the wardrobe features of different body types (like the video about if your style doesn't fit where you live). Xo from Canada!
Oh this was so interesting! When I got serious about my style a couple years ago, I looked a lot at who had influenced me. The biggest influence, far and away, was Julia Andrews, specifically her role as Maria in The Sound of Music but genuinely her whole career. She's always been the perfect balance of trendy and classic, dramatic and elegant. She's just an icon and forever will be. xx
Love your idea of a skin twin. However, with age, it becomes harder to find one, I feel. I have white/gray hair, light blue-green eyes and light skin. Although I love my hair now, inside of me, I somehow still see myself as very dark haired, as I used to be. In other words, there used to be a lot of contrast, where now there is none. It's difficult.
Ms. Christina, I too, see myself as the raven-haired girl ole! Now with salt and pepper hair, dark brown eyes and olive skin, I find it a challenge to find my skin twin and having to wear more color on my lips as in pinks and reds so as I do not look as I crawled out of my vampiric lair LOL
@@lisarhoades965 & Christina--you should use Google images and find the actresses who had similar coloring and see if you can find how their style evolved as they have aged. Lisa, you should definitely look up Ali McGraw who is still a style icon and very striking. And some, sorry to say, can be used as a cautionary tale. I was looking for the fair brunette with blue eyes and came across an actress Meg Foster. She's chosen to dye her dark hair reddish--not good. Happy hunting to you both!
Ms Cristina, life it's like a season, every stage had the on particular beauty, we just need to find it and accepting as a very peculiar beauty, I think, there is beauty on every part of our lives, but there all are very different like the season.
@@haydeeramos7839 I totally agree! And it's not that I feel unlovely or anything, it's just that I find it difficult to find my so-called "skin twin" given my coloring and the dearth of older style icons.
YOU are my style icon Audrey. I love everyone you featured. Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite movies of all time! I can watch it again and again. And now I have a bigger excuse to watch it even more, to focus on the fashion 🙌 I adored Caroline Bingley’s dresses and Georgina Darcy’s dress too! One of my new favorite movies for Fashion Influence is Crazy Rich Asians! Astrid and Ariminta’s wardrobe is incredible!
I really love the way you conceptualize style inspiration. I have so many style icons who I don't have similar body types to or even identical styles, but there's just something about the way they dress or some facet of the aesthetic that is so influential to me. Lindsay Wagner in The Paper Chase and Ali Macgraw in A Love Story are both major 70s preppy/collegiate inspiration for me. I draw my makeup inspiration from the young girl in The Lover (she's so glowy and fresh!), Carolyn Bessette Kennedy (when we're not wearing masks, my go to look is extremely natural skin, a touch of mascara, and a red lip), and also Pride and Prejudice--fun coincidences there! I have a very different body type to you--I'm very tall and quite curvy--so we naturally have somewhat different dress senses, despite the fact that I think one of the reasons I love your channel so much is that our overall aesthetics aren't dissimilar, but you've also become one of my style icons in the past few months! You have really helped me focus on figuring out what colors, silhouettes and styles make me feel amazing and help me express my personal style. And I've saved so much money not constantly trying to buy cheap clothes that never quite suit me and fall apart quickly!
I had never really thought about movie/tv being a source of style inspiration, but now that you've mentioned it I can see so many references to my own style and how connected it is to favorite fictional characters. My love of earthy tones and utilitarian pieces definitely came from my obsession with Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I see lots of musicians reflected in my style, too. Great video, Audrey!
Audrey, as others have mentioned in the comments, YOU are one of my style icons! You as well as other style icons I have admired take a classic style and add it with an updated twist accompanied with ‘good grooming’. When I was very young, looking at a Life magazine, I loved a beautiful picture of Princess Caroline of Monaco wearing a crisp white shirt with faded blue jeans and she had her loose long wavy hair worn with simple gold hoops. With her olive toned skin and glowing cheeks to me that was everything! Depending on the occasion and my ‘mood’ my style icons are Audrey Hepburn, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy, Princess Diana, Meghan (Duchess of Sussex) , Jennifer Anniston , and Amal Clooney to name a few.
I loved all your style icons. Who doesn't love Audrey Hepburn. Her style is enduring. I am probably your mother's age, because I saw Love Story when it first came out, when I was in high school. Everyone loved Ali McGraw's character's style. We were all dressing like that anyway. Everyone wore her knit hat, including myself. Since I was born in Cambridge and grew up in Watertown (the next town over) everyone of my friends went to see this movie because of all the places we all recognized. I love Rene Russo's style in The Thomas Crown affair. I actually bought that rust colored long jacket to wear over black trousers and turtle neck. I like a lot of Kate Middleton's style, except her print dresses. I also like Megan Markle's style. When I watch movies, I do pay attention to the way the characters dress, too.
When I was a teen in the 1960's, my father thought it was awful to wear bright lipstick with jeans (dungarees at one time) or sport clothes. But I was a Southern girl, love color, fight depression, and love fashion...I am 69 now and still play dress-up! I was in line for that movie in Nashville at the Rocking Chair theater...I still remember! (What's Up Doc) but of course, saw "Love Story" too.
Audrey, this was wonderful. The first time I saw you I realized you wore Preppy clothing. It was the first adult clothing I wore too because I lived in Boston then after growing up in Texas. Texas clothing just didnt work in Boston either for climate or fashion. Classic clothing was my entire wardrobe during my academic career. THen THAT didnt work in early retirement sailing the Caribbean for ten years. Now after fifteen years in Latin America living in coffee finca country, with an elegant Spanish colonial town nearby, I am back full circle to Texas clothing and British/American classic tweed blazers, sweaters mixed with slacks and loafers or jeans and my cowboy or riding boots most fall/winter days.I also like to pair my blazers with denim and silky midi skirts with boots. I like a Ralph Lauren style mixture of western wear, suede or leather blazers or jackets with skirts, jeans and trousers. Sometimes I wear a lace jabot, or a velvet scarf at the neck, even satin blouses mixed it....very RL country style which I love and fits my lifestyle now. I adore my Stetson all weather felt hat in moss green and my finely woven cream Panama hat from Ecuador. They are SO me!
Ahhhhhh! I LOVED What's Up Doc so so much. I grew up in the seventies and went to see it every time it came to town (no videos or streaming in the seventies ha ha). This was a fun video Audrey! For fashion fun, a recent show I've enjoyed is Indian Summers on PBS Masterpiece. I think you'd love it.
Hi Audrey, I love how you emphasize the importance of wearing clothes that feel good. I wonder if you can make a video on the fabrics/colors that help uplift our mood or are comforting to wear.
I loved this video Audrey. I love fashion but really hadn’t thought much about who my style icons are. As I get older I lm leaning towards more classic styles but I also have a bohemian side. I’m only 5’2” but curvy/hourglass so I find it hard to find someone to look to. I do love some of the styles from the 40’s and 50’s as they seem to fit my body type a little better. Now that I’ve let my hair go gray I’m always looking for style ides that are classic yet still fun/ modern but not too young or too matronly. This was a fun video and definitely got me thinking.
What an impactful video Audrey! I can see how all of these style icons have directly influenced your own personal style. Audrey Hepburn and Princess Diana are my style icons!
What a lovely video. Your fashion influences come from such a wonderful palette of women. What an absolute joy to watch. My fictional character, fashion influencer is Rene Russo's "Catherine Banning" in The Thomas Crown Affair. Every outfit played into the scene as if it was a cast member itself. And how many women could maintain class and pull of wearing that daring sheath at the Black and White Ball? Stunning. And speaking of stunning, Amal Clooney in anything and everything!
oooh! my style icons are Sade, Audrey Hepburn (so classic, timeless and chic really. And she has so much substance to her beauty and philosophy about life), Debbie Harry/punk rock-hiphop, Rhoda Dakar/2 tone. From real life: Tennille Murphy, you and Dearly Bethany. And fictional: Def Jane and Elizabeth from the same version of Pride and Prejudice as well as this kinda fictional nerdy bookish, romantic woman from, maybe the early 1950s that exists in my mind.. and let's face it, in my heart as well
I was thinking about my style icons and I was immediately reminded of how much Burberry's Autumn/Winter 2012 show has influenced my style. Lots of neutrals (greens, grays, browns), beautiful fabrics, bows, and foxes!!! That show is iconic (to me hah)!
So suprising to find out about your voice and fascination for Maria Callas! That explains wonderful music in your videos and your class:) Warm greetings from a cellist :))
I would have to say that you introduced me to my love of both blazers and scarves. Thank you for that. As well as the patience to find quality fabric items secondhand!!💕 Tracy Hensel is one of my influencers as well.
As soon as you said Maria Callas and that you also sing it all added up for me - your speaking voice, your personal style, your overall demeanor. Love it!!
I’ve decided that despite the differences between us, Audrey Hepburn has been a style icon for me on 3 levels 1. PHYSICAL One of my favourite images oh Audrey Hepburn is the one where she’s lying on her side, wearing a fitted top, capri pants, and ballet flats. She makes me think of a gracefully reclaining black cat. My enduring love love of ballet flats surely date from that image. Another favourite is an image often featured on the cover of Roman Holiday. The shirt - the cut and the way she wears it slightly opened - is one I’d wear every day. 2. MENTAL When I think about my sense of style, sometimes it feels like Herman’s Head, with all these different characters vying for supremacy. One of those characters is a AH look-alike in the „black cat” outfit. Even though I wouldn’t wear it (except maybe with a good blazer to smooth out the extra curves), this outfit really speaks to my appreciation of clean lines and monochromatic looks). 3. SPIRITUAL. I first saw Audrey Hepburn in a TV intervew, when she came to Australia in the late 80s to promote the work of UNICEF. I was a teenager then. Audrey Hepburn was 60. Mum explained to me that she was a star, and of course later I saw how stunning she had been in her Hollywood hay days, but even without this knowledge I felt I was looking at someone special. She exuded a quality that I can only describe as grace. The interviewer signed off with „ Audrey Hepburn-a lovely lady”. And that makes me think that true style goes beyond the clothes we wear, but radiates out from the soul. That’s something to aspire to.
Hi Audrey, Thank you for your elegant and lovely videos, fashion ideas and tips. My most recent style icon is Victoria Beckham. Beautiful clothes! Have a lovely Sunday!
Great endearing video, Audrey, you really have me thinking about my style icons. I share some of yours. My favorite is Sophia Loren. I’m also a singer/ music teacher, so two thumbs up for Maria Callas! 💓
I also love the movie pride and prejudice. But im unsure of my style because I have a collection of items but one color that runs true in my style is pink.
You have such an understanding of style and how to incorporate it for you! You notice the smallest detail and how it plays into the grand scheme. Well done. I enjoyed it. It was like a lesson for me. Goes to prove that no matter how causal an outfit may look, a great of thought maybe was put into it. 👏
I've been binging you and DearlyBethany's videos for the last week or 2. I'm working on building my "grown up" wardrobe and you two have been major influences. Knowing that you both sing and appreciate Audrey Hepburn's style makes my heart flutter because same 😂 edit: You're a Taurus! Same lol
Personally I love androgynous style. The mix of masculine and feminine is completely my style. Some of my pieces are super feminine and others are straight up mens clothing and I love to mix the two. For that reason two big style icons for me came from the 70s and came at androgynous style from two completely different perspectives but the blend of the two really works for me. First off is specifically 1970's Freddie Mercury not hyper masculine 1980s Freddie, although that was also and iconic style I respect. His early years had a mix of menswear with vintage women's clothing both in luxurious fabrics that is so iconic! He was fabulous and knew how to accessorize and work with a limited wardrobe. If you really look at old pictures of Queen you can see all the members mixing and matching, especially on tour, from each others limited wardrobes. To this day I still search constantly for a white scarf with black chevron detail like the one Freddie wore everywhere with everything. It's so classic and versatile I'd love to have something like it in my wardrobe. My second 1970's style icon is one who is just as androgynous and iconic to this day. Diane Keaton is quirky and fun in her wonderfully unique style that I just adore. She incorporates whimsy and fearless fun into her clothes and dresses for her own amusement and style without a care for what anyone else thinks or expects. You never truly know what she is going to wear but it's a safe bet to guess androgynous, no color and probably with a chunky belt and/or a hat. No one wears a simple white button up like Diane Keaton. I adore that her style has not been affected by the pressures of fame and Hollywood standards. She is who she is and she dresses how SHE likes.
Okay no way! I almost included Fran Drescher in mine as well! I watched so much of The Nanny with my mom while I was growing up! Love the video, Audrey 🥰
Interesting choices ! I suppose my style icons when I think who has influenced me are Jackie Kennedy and Diane Keaton . My style probably falls somewhere in between the two . Visual inspiration is so important and useful .
Wow I never picked up on that! When I first found her videos I thought a bit of a young Laura Dern, but I totally see "Jane" now! Definitely that ethereal classic Rachel described 😉
I agree her smile was a great asset we women need to realize is the best thing to wear... a smile.
anything for Selenas!
Princess Diana was a huge inspiration of mine when I was a teenager.🙂
How could I forget. I loved her style.
Audrey please can we have a video dedicated to trousers covering everything- the styles, colours, season appropriate, materials, fit etc... please. Big hug from India
this would be great
As a viewer just as apprehensive about deviating from neutrals, I have been enjoying your exploration into incorporating color. It suits you and I feel, brings out how lively and lovely you are!
Thank you so much! It’s taken a few years for me to feel comfortable choosing my new colors but it was worth the wait 🤗❤️
@@AudreyCoyne 🙌🏻🙌🏻🤗🤗 as another Winter lady I know the struggle first time wearing a full on fuchsia dress, but we look amazing in our true coloring.
I saw Fran Drescher and couldn't click fast enough! So many wonderful women, you included!
Yes ! Jenny Cavilleri...forever and ever and ever !
Lol me too!
You are my style icon. I have improved a lot from all your advices and i feel great! Thank you Audrey
Same! ❤️
Hi Audrey,
Yesterday, I receieved about 15 compliments on my outfit and short hairstyle the whole day while I was out and it's only because you have inspired my style.
Pride and prejudice is my chill out movie. It's so beautiful.
In this video:
1. Audrey Hepburn (namesake)
2. Maria Callas (singer)
3. Penelope Cruze (skin twin)
4. Selena Quintanilla-Pérez
5. Fran Drescher (and Fran Fine character)
6. Barbra Streisand's character in What's Up Doc
7. Jenny Cavalieri in Love Story (actress Ali MacGraw)
8. Elizabeth and Jane in Pride and Prejudice (Kiera Knightley and Rosamund Pike)
Thank you for the list.
@@haydeeramos7839 You're welcome!
Barbara had a great stylist for her movies. She was so gorgeous.
Audrey, if you love that red dress that much, have it made. It wouldn’t be that much if you bought the fabric at a good price.
Girl that’s highly subjective
That red dress is gorgeous, don't know why but it reminded me of Kate Middleton's blue engagement dress! But you can get it custom made!
I always loved the Hitchcock-Heroine chic.
Me too, partly because Hitchcock liked women who had coloring closer to my own.
Great choice! There's a video somewhere on YT on all of Eve Marie Saint's outfits from North by Northwest; every single one is fantastic.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hitchcock really knew how to dress his stars (well, he really knew which costume designer to hire)
@@maitesoto1953 Agreed. I watched The Birds for the umpth-teenth time and noticed the outfits of the main character actress. Gasp! Gorgeous.
Ah yes, "Murder, She Wrote"
What a great suggestion. As a Gen-Xer, I knew her first as an older actress. She definitely had good style in MSW. (I wish more women dressed like that today.) But years later, I was positively floored when I discovered her ability to pull off full-tilt glamour in The World of Henry Orient - not my favorite movie, but her wardrobe in it is amazing. She's just one of those people with enormous artistic range, which shows up in her choice of roles, as well as her fashion.
Yes! Angela Lansbury is a treasure and her whole Murder, She Wrote wardobe is 100% how I'd love to look in that phase of life.
I thought the outfits she wore in that series were timeless! Would wear it easily too
Thalia Williams
I absolutely loved the The Queen's Gambit (great story) but often got distracted by the gorgeous fashion. I've started sewing garments for myself since Covid and I just couldn't stop looking at those clothes! Beautiful!
@@denisedorsey2889 Yes! The story is so good but the clothes made me drool.
I love Angelina Jolie’s wardrobe in The Tourist. Great style! Jackie Kennedy had wonderful style, as did Princess Diana.
Good call. I'm designing a shirt for my female line. Featuring style icons. I wanted to jus go off memory but I finally broke down and started looking up stuff. Totally forgot about Jackie O. She wuz a major fashion icon. Thanks
Clair Huxtable from The Cosby show!
And what a gorgeous wardrobe she had!
As a white girl who grew up watching The Cosby Show, I always loved her style. Just a day or two ago, I was thinking about my lackluster wardrobe and one of her outfits came to mind. It was a 'What-would-Clair-wear?' moment. She was a role model in many ways.
Oh yes! There's a bronze silky blouse that Clair has worn that I've been on the hunt for.
Something light and airy about each outfit might
hint at your personality and echo your voice, hair, and graceful movement. It would give you a sparkle of individuality in your clothing to mirror your personality and demeanor, your delicacy. As my grandmother told me, play to your strengths in fashion and in life, that was great advice that propelled me forward. Abrazos!
Excellent observation
As a teen watching Mary Tyler Moore portray an independent young working woman was pivotal in directing my style. Her wardrobe, hair, and makeup were wonderfully chic and on trend, yet always classic, well-tailored, wearable, and accessible. Nothing was overdone. MTM may have influenced a generation of working women.
My baby is also named Audrey. Or, as my 2 year old calls her, Audwey. :)
(😭😭😭 happy tears seeing you embracing Winter color palette on full force, amazing royal/cobalt blue).
P&P with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth as Elizabeth and Darcy is a must-see!
Love that you are influences by women from different backgrounds as well! I saw Selena and was like yessssssss 🥰
I'm learning a lot watching your videos. I also love your voice. It's relaxing!
Nothing looks more gorgeous than passion. I can see how passionate you are when talking about different colours and silhouettes. It's absolutely contagious ✨💙
Oh I loved this!! And I can see a little influence of each of these women in your wardrobe✨ I feel like this opened a little window into seeing things from your point of view over the years💛
You are elegant, eloquent, and charming! I adore your videos wishing you piece and joy. Xx
Audrey Hepburn, Diane Keaton, Stevie Nicks and Janet Jackson for me. I also really love the style of Claire Underwood from the House of Cards and of course growing up in the 90s my girls from Clueless.
I really enjoyed this, Audrey! As for the elusive red dress, it might not be so expensive to just have your tailor make it up for you.
Oooh I love watching the character Miranda Priestly in the movie The Devil Wears Prada. I just adore her elegant and sophisticated, yet vibrant and strong style. Love it!
I really appreciate the diversity of style icons you mention.
My icons are definitely Carolyn Besette-Kennedy, Juliette Binoche, and Audrey Hepburn.
Ah, Juliette Binoche. Love her!
@@emmasanders1234 I saw her in the movie Three Colors: Blue and fell in love with her style and elegance.
This is such a fabulous video, Audrey. I love seeing the style icons who have influenced your style choices. Your attention to detail and clear explanations are always so appreciate. Thank you for sharing ❤️
All the women you have mentioned are so strong in their own right. I can totally see them inspiring the many moods and motions one can go through.
Ah yes Grace Kelly classic simple elegance
Yes I also love thw style of Ms. Audrey Hepburn and also Queen Letizia of Spain. Because I am on the conservative and classic style. Thank you also Audrey for inteoducing this topic.
Me too
I love Queen Letzia, too. Her hair is lovely.
Hands down Jackie Kennedy !
What a gorgeous video!! I found that fascinating. You have put a lot of thought into this. I would say Jackie O, Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn are my style icons. Audrey, you can't tease us like that about your singing!! Where can we go to hear you sing?
I am so happy to see Selena in your video! You did a good job including a great mix of styles.
Yes, she did, because she's very universal and cultural, a very well educated woman, she probably travels a lot.
My style icons are Amal Alamoudin for work wardrobe, Jennifer Aniston for everyday life and Kate Winslet for evening and formal dressing.
Loved Fran and Selena as a kid, beautiful and with lots of personality 😍
I like selena and fran and the fact that you mentioned them made me like and respect you much more
Love your video.
@@r.l.stroud9633 Thank you for the referral, Ali is awesome!
P and P, not just the literature. I agree with you Audrey. It's the hair, clothing and houses. All yes!!!
My personal style icons are all rock stars. Stevie Nicks, Nancy wilson, Mick Jagger and Jimi Hendrix are some of my favorites!
Royal blue on you looks amazing! Truly a deep winter color and SO flattering on you.
My style icons:
YOU
Winona ryder
Grace Kelly
Vivian from Pretty Woman
Oh I love this, I think it's so interesting to see who people are influenced by!
As a Greek I loves that you loves Maria Kallas!
Elegant and beautiful as always. Happy Sunday, Ms.
I was also crazy about renee russo's clothes in that movie!
oooh! my style icons are Sade, Audrey Hepburn (so classic, timeless and chic really.
As well as the patience to find quality fabric items secondhand!!💕
Tracy Hensel is one of my influencers as well.
I definitely agree with you on Selena and Penelope. Selena passed when I was in middle school. Her style is iconic!
As soon as you said Maria Callas and that you also sing it all added up for me - your speaking voice, your personal style, your overall demeanor. Love it!!
Loved this.. i wish they were longer😇
I’ve decided that despite the differences between us, Audrey Hepburn has been a style icon for me on 3 levels
I love that you love opera ! There are so few of us left ❤️🎼
Hi Audrey,
Thank you for your elegant and lovely videos, fashion ideas and tips.
Coco Chanel, Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana. All faves of mine.
I also love the movie pride and prejudice. But im unsure of my style because I have a collection of items but one color that runs true in my style is pink.
You have such an understanding of style and how to incorporate it for
you! You notice the smallest detail and how it plays into the grand scheme. Well done. I enjoyed it. It was like a lesson for me. Goes to prove that no matter how causal an outfit may look, a great of thought maybe was put into it. 👏
love the video, my icons is my mum style in 1970s, Pam Grier, 1990s models off duty, Carolyn Basset Kennedy and 1970s movies
Thanks Audrey, in particular thank you for posting about some really classy, interesting examples
I've been binging you and DearlyBethany's videos for the last week or 2. I'm working on building my "grown up" wardrobe and you two have been major influences. Knowing that you both sing and appreciate Audrey Hepburn's style makes my heart flutter because same 😂
edit: You're a Taurus!
Barbara Christie
Diane Keaton for me,as well. ☺️
I just realized how similar your facial features are to Rosalind Pike! She’s your blonde twin!
Wow I never picked up on that! When I first found her videos I thought a bit of a young Laura Dern, but I totally see "Jane" now! Definitely that ethereal classic Rachel described 😉
