This was the most thorough review on Mystery of History that I have seen! Thank you! I've been waiting until my kids are just a little older, and I'm so looking forward to this curriculum now that I've seen it so in detail.

I’m so glad this was helpful!! 💜 I know many families use it earlier/with younger kids, I think this has been a great time for us to start though with my kids being a little older as well.

I kept hearing about the MOH and finally decided to go with it this year as well. We decided on volume 2. I love the student reader. It’s so well done. We pick and choose a few things from the companion guide. I didn’t realize there were notebooking pages though! I’m going to look into those for my 12 and 10 year olds. Great review!

Thanks so much!! I’m curious to see if the notebooking pages for the other volumes are similar!

This looks SO good! I kind of like how all the extra options are separate purchases because then you aren’t wasting money on things you won’t use. But I definitely understand how that could be a downside to some people. I have been contemplating if we need to switch, my daughter is starting to have a lot more opinions about what she wants in certain curriculum. 😂 Tweens! 😂❤

That's true!! I'm just so accustomed to MFW and the "all in one" packages 😂. I would love for my kids to have more of an opinion about curriculum....although I suppose I'm thankful that they don't really mind whatever I throw at them. They are all coming to Teach Them Diligently with us this year, I'm hoping seeing all the things in the vendor hall will spark some different interests for them!

This was extremely helpful, thanks for sharing. I've been contemplating switching to this come next year. Is there any supplemental reading lists provided in the companion guide? It's always nice to have some reader ideas to give the kids on the time period being discussed.

Thanks for watching!! Yes, LOTS of suggestions! I only showed a couple of the pages in the video, but there are pages and pages of "topic" resources and books, and then suggestions for each lesson! All are also broken down by younger, middle, and older student. It's super helpful!

What would you recommend is the youngest age to use this with?

That’s a great question, and it truly will depend on the child! I’d say 1st grade would be the youngest you’d start. They have a wonderful scope and sequence chart on their website that can help you figure out the course of action each year depending on when your child begins the curriculum!
I plan on starting my youngest “officially” when he is in 3rd grade. Of course, things could change, but that’s my current line of thinking 😂.
