I bought 2 of them one to keep sealed and one to open love the figures and the packaging. Still have wave 1 sealed. I'm not sure if they'll ever be worth anything, but it's still cool to own
I did the same, one set to open, one to keep carded. I'm with you... may not have much value, but fun to look at and display. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I want this Jar Jar on the Vintage Collection hahaha
Is there no Jar Jar in TVC?
The reason some don't have warning labels is because the 1ns without warning labels don't come with small enough parts to choke
Thanks man, I should have realized that. Just thought it strange as I was going through the figures.
Just ordered mine through Target, very pumped to get them. I was so excited when they announced this box. I'm not at all into the Mando and Boba Fett series', but I'm in for any series they do of the nine core movies. I still wish series one displayed better out of the package, but this line has come along pretty nicely
I have the first two waves on card, but never opened them. Those were a little hard to hunt down at the time, especially the boba fett. I later picked up an opened farmboy luke, stormtrooper, and vader and thought they were pretty nicely done. Only wave I don't have any of yet is BoBF. I really just want Krysantan and Cad Bane.
Give us the retro last 17 Hasbro!!!
I agree!
That's a pretty nice collection of figures Dave. I don't know why, but the distressed look on the box makes me smile. I know it's fake, but somehow it just looks more authentic and retro.
Thanks Rob, yep, that's what they were going for!
Looks great! Just wish they would stop putting that stupid sticker on them tho, i keep mine in the package and I always have to use a blow dryer to remove the sticker so i can see the photo artwork.
Yes I have used the blow dryer successfully as well as lighter fluid to remove the stickers. I’m still on the fence about the stickers.
I'm getting some of these. Very cool
Great, glad the review was helpful! Enjoy!
Nice review!
Thanks MATT!
Beautiful 🤩. Awesome review Dave. ❤
Thanks brother!
The warning labels are present only on figures with accessories small enough to be swallowed by a child. Hence, not all figures have them.
Ah, thank you! Makes sense now!
That retro sticker is unnecessary! Great collection
Thanks man!
I just bought my box set yesterday!
Awesome, glad you were able to find it! Do you open, or keep on card?
@@RedWagonDioramas I tend to open mine. If a toy isn't played with, it's life is wasted.
You know what you might want to keep those variants. They might be rare. Depends on the figures.
I thought of that, but checked a few other pics and reviews and confirmed they're not variants.
I can't wait to get these. Hope to see what is next soon for the Retros. #YearOfHammerhead
Me too. I hope for more from the OT of course.
I don't think Kenner would have done Obi Wan Kenobi with that ridiculous braid that looks like some bird just flew around his head prior.
I mean look at Weequay. Compared to this Kenobi ,Weequay feels like a holy grail contender figure. And Weequay is a great figure. I just love how some custom figures are always made in the style of the Cantina Creatures totally ignoring how the Return of the Jedi Wave actually looked. I rather buy Hasbro Figures than Cantina Wars figures ,ok?
To me this Kenobi is just straight up an imposter. Even a 3D print figure would be sculpted better than this Obi Wan Knockoffbi. Darth Maul is another ridiculous attempt to catch your fascination. No cape ,really? How many Retro Darth Mauls are we going to see then? I remember the Black Series having 3 Mauls with Zero Capes (Congratulations Hasbro!).
Even the face sculpt is pretty mediocre. Looks like a modern figure rather than something you would have seen around the 80s. They could have used Grand Moff Tarkins Face to sculpt Maul and it would look magnificent. With Jar Jar Binks I don't know. Kinda looks too innocent to me. In my opinion he looks cartoony. He should be more raw and rough. I love that you can move his ears though. The Battle Droid I don't know. Looks a little too flexible to me. It should be more stiff like the Stormtrooper and IG-88. This Battle Droid looks like a cheater on that regard. I'm positively surprised with the Queen Amidala figure. When the first pictures of her made the rounds I thought she was utterly ugly and just a figure to freeze in a carbonite for good. The Face looks not as bad as firstly assumed. Although she is missing her red dots on both cheeks now, she looks like a great figure to have now. I would love her with more lively arms though. I'm not a fan of arms that look so stiff that they look like they are being electrocuted by the Dark Force. Qui-Gon looks great and makes TV Series Kenobi look like a Bootleg Figure.
Thanks for the comment, some good thoughts. I think Kenobi's braid would be too fragile if it were a glued on piece though. Yes, I wish Maul had a robe too. Qui-Gon is definitely my favorite of the bunch. His robe is really good and I love the green saber.
@@RedWagonDioramas They should have made Kenobi's braid like Stan Solo's Leia. Fragile is what makes it intriguing to collect the figure
Does qui gon robe come off? That wasn’t mentioned
Yes the robe does come off. There is a short clip of the figure with the robe off in my Six Figures a Month video I posted shortly after this video.
@@RedWagonDioramas I’ll give it a watch😃
The Phantom Menace Retro Collection is missing Anakin.
For sure! They are doing anakin in the next wave though, but for Ep. 3 I believe.
@@RedWagonDioramas instead of Jar Jar they should've had Anakin, since he is the main character.
Not feeling these. The styling doesn't quite fit the vintage Kenner line. I'll wait to see if these go on sale. At 50% off they'd be a good pickup.
I'm curious, what do you think is off compared to the kenner figs? colors? sculpt?
@@RedWagonDioramas Sculpting. They look too "cartoony". They just don't look like the original line from the 70s/early 80s. They look a lot more modern.
@@NerdLiftsNot sure what you're looking at, these looks better
@@chriswilliams3110 Not really about looking better. The vintage Kenner line has a certain look. I want all the figures in that line to match their aesthetic.
