Right! There are certain times when too much multi dimensional talent might keep pushing your mind out of focus. Bikram Ghosh seems to be a classic case of such a syndrome. Killer talent, somehow the focus of rendering a classical performance in all its sweetness seems to be missing every time. In fact this one was still better. There are many where he totally loses focus and wanders into semi-mad histrionics. I heard his relative Swapan Chaudhuri fondly says "O ekta pagol!"
@@Prof_Hazra_IIT Very good observation Sir! Banaras compositions require power as well as clarity but this is simply banging tabla. He should watch Pt. Kumar Bose or Pt. Sanju Sahai or Ustad Shukhvinder Singh Naamdhari Pinky . That's why Ustad Zakir Hussain once lamented that talented Bikram Ghosh is gradually becoming a ' fancy tabla player ' who prefers showmanship.
Bickram is a gifted Tabla player. While the sound quality of the microphones left much to be desired, the solo, though only a few minutes was aimed at impressing the audience with speed and aggressive play. Must respect him for at least playing purely traditional compositions (gath, chand, rela) rather than spending time on experimenting with sound effects. Son of a great man.
I just listened his another video with him playing traditional teental peshkaar......i wondered it was fabulous and purely traditional. I enjoyed it a lot. After listening to that video i got to know that bikram da is really a learned tabla player and he has actually learned and practised traditional tabla alot. But when i listen to his own fusion videos or the one above i feel it less enjoyable. May be because i like only traditional tabla. I said in my above comment that he lacks nikaas but that i meant regarding this video only....after i listened his traditional peshkaar my view changed completely. But i dont understand why he plays more in fusion style even if his traditional playing is very good? Also i apologise if anyone felt offended by my comment. I meant it for his this particular performance.
I m really saddened tht how such a maestro is underrated appreciated... and so many pretentious figures r overwhelmingly popularised.... :-( Well.. i.m really thrilled on experiencing this masterpiece... wht a talented person..
He is the first to fuse tabla with other instruments he has a pure classical base just like a test player can easily adopt to other shorter formats so is Bickram da ....nice performance
Nice performance and zero playing ...only banging the tabla.. gimmicks and theatrics performed well with the tabla😀 Didnt expect this from such a personality.. too hyped...
Your observations are correct sir. He has skills. Most of the artists after reaching a certain success and fame lose the track in a phobia that they will be regarded as celebrities for whatever they do. That's why in ancient days child prodigy were not brought to the stage performances till they mature mentally too
Many Maestro's of tabla in this comment section, If its like that then go and dare to play the same thing in the same way with same speed, I bet it will be worse for all the judges in this comment section😂😂😂......

@@abeshbhowmic5712 yes absolutely right. Real tabla player is ustad zakir hussain. He uses his tremendous speed at perfect timing. Not use it unnecessarily to show off. He is a real historical artist. No one can beat him.

Beating up tabla is not tabla playing. You should love it. There was lack of melody and only theatrical showmanship. Such poor performance is always expected from him........... Unfortunately

Extremely casual and totally devoid of grace. Such a talented artist, yet he hardly takes tabla solo playing seriously.
