It always amazes me how you can assemble these models so efficiently on camera with all the small fiddly parts...I have a constant flurry of flying parts and incessant searching 😆love the videos.
what was updated? different decals & different color plastic, not particularly radical changes or did I miss something? oh, yeah, a second engine! but not an appropriate one. this is really a neat kit, I've built several over the years & will likely build more. but I'm not seeing a much changed kit. anyway, kudos to Keeler for his part in bringing it back.
The Studebaker brothers would be mighty impressed with this build. The boys started out making horse drawn wagons for the Army in the 1800's winning bids against the Conestoga Wagon Company. They finished up with cars like this. Thanks for this build, red on red is a tough combo, but you made it work, Chris.
The kit is the former Revell Miss Deal model kit. With the Revell Parts Pack Pontiac engine thrown in at no extra charge. Keelers Kustoms refers to the guy who designed this kit for Revell in the early 60s. Along with the Mooneyes dragster kit introduced in 2022 and the Fiat Topolino altered kit, both of which Atlantis is producing to my delight. They're doing a very good job with these excellent old kits. PS: While most everybody has always referred to this as a "gasser", as you pointed out, the wheelbase is modified from stock. Thus it, like the Fiat would've raced in "Altered" class. Funny Car class in the mid 60s required the body to be a factory body or a replica of a then new car which would not have allowed the 12 year old body on this car. Way back when I 1st got a Miss Deal kit, my plan was to combine parts from this kit and an AMT 53 Studebaker to build a drag Studebaker that would have fit the Gas class rules. Chopped roof, stock wheelbase, blown hemi, roll cage, etc. This kit is on my "to buy this year" list.
Chris, I love your enthusiasm, and the “build it how you want” philosophy. And if your detractors don’t like it, I think Bernie Mac said it in House Party: Fuck ‘em up against the wall.
This kit was originally issued in 1965, as the Miss Deal funnycar. The story goes that Revell was tooling up a '53 Studebaker but AMT beat them to it! So they just modified the body into an altered wheelbase car and used some "PartsPack" parts. The chassis is actually the "Custom Show Car " frame, based on the early Corvette. The Pontiac engine is also from the PartsPack but was never included before.
Welp...im at the beginning point where hes assembling the engine in tbis vid....an its ironic....i was just building on an old hotrod revell two car kit pack from the 80s with mickey thompsons challenger bonnevill car and ivoes show boat...the engines in the challenger are pontiacs and i just noticed... Its the same engine in this kit an mine.....so i was wondering how is an old revell engine in this kit here??? Weird
Revell did this with lots of engines in the early/mid 60s. The Tommy Ivo 4-engine dragster had 4 engines detailed like this. Gassrrs, dragster, altereds, parts pack engines, all kinds of stuff got this treatment. And while they look complex, they go together well.
You do such nice work! Looks like a fun build, reminds me of drag kits when I was growing up. I hear you on personal commitments, my projects are derailed right now for important matters. Nice to watch you build. Thanks
My kit did not include the wiring. No biggie but what was also missing that's not mentioned in the unboxing was the steel axle for the rear wheels. Again no problem I used a piece of old coat hanger to solve that. Awesome build Chris as always👍
Very nice build. You did an excellent job paint detailing the model. It looks like a very nice kit, with very few issues, but modeling skills can take care of those. Thanks for sharing.
As far as "Mirco" drills are concerned, I use a pin vise & various bits from Walter's. Any model RR shop should have them. That said, GR8 build....many thanx Chris 👍👍
This is very reminiscent of the 1970'S "Miss Deal" kit from Revell. It was sold as a funny car back then, but it had the same foot shaped push bar on the back and was modeled in white.
FWIW, this is the old Revell "Miss Deal" kit and is in no way a "Gasser". It has an altered wheel base and would be more of an Altered class car or early garage built funny car. Glad to see the Pontiac engine is there, so you can rob the Hemi from this for all the Atlantis dragster kits that should have that engine instead of a Cadillac, etc. lol!
Enjoy your builds and the reviews of what's in the box - I have to say I now base a lot of my purchases on what you've reviewed if it's a kit I haven't purchased before (which it seems I've purchased a lot over the years!) Sort of unrelated - what turntable are you using at the end?
Miss Deal was Revell. Yes this is the Miss Deal kit, now produced by Atlantis. Manufactured in the USA. The AMT 53 Studebaker built stock, or as a Bonneville racer with a chopped top.
Let's hope Atlantis can bring back the Revellion!
Fun kit to build!!! 👍👍
It always amazes me how you can assemble these models so efficiently on camera with all the small fiddly parts...I have a constant flurry of flying parts and incessant searching 😆love the videos.
That is a sweet looking Studebaker.
Revell mold now owned by Atlantis, glad to see these being updated instead of the same old reissue!

Great build

Love the show man!! Looks like a fun kit..
Cool car! 👍
Excellent build ,looks brilliant
I have been hoping on you reviewing this kit ! Now I'll order one or two ! Looks great for no paint on body . Have a great day !!!
Lovely job mate👍

Turned out great Chris no problem with misalignment 😊
Great looking - decals look sharp on there.

Just in time! I was looking for something interesting to watch.
Now after years of being done with kit's, I got to find one of these
Cool as always.
Never seen a engine internally detailed like this one! Great build!

The AMT 58 Chevy Impala kits have the rocker arms in the heads but not the shafts. They also have a chrome crankshaft
You do such nice work! Looks like a fun build, reminds me of drag kits when I was growing up. I hear you on personal commitments, my projects are derailed right now for important matters. Nice to watch you build. Thanks
Beautiful job. Awesome detail work.
Very nice. I have never built a Studebaker before, this will be my 1st one. Love the Pontiac motor too.
One heck of a gasser build! Love how it came out! I use the Quick Shine floor polish myself and I love it! Best way to clear a model! Thanks Chris!
Beautiful built detailing colors are bad ass
Very nice build!!!

Really nice build & presentation Chris! I agree, the Atlantis Model Company decals are 👍!
Very nice build. You did an excellent job paint detailing the model. It looks like a very nice kit, with very few issues, but modeling skills can take care of those. Thanks for sharing.

Great build. I just built original Miss Deal
By the way Chris Great call out to you on latest Round 2 spotlight video. Congrats
I still have an unbilt issue of this kit when it was misdeal
Yessss I have that as well. I built a 64 dodge AWB gasser with mine.😊😊
Another SSWWEEEETT BUILD Chris 🏆🏆🏆🏆 Thanks For Sharing Your Fun n God Bless You 🙏🙏 Gary.
Very unusual kit I think it came out pretty good I myself just picked up the Fiat gasser from Atlantis, hope to start on it soon 👍👍

I was hoping you'd use the wiring

Thanks!
I just grabbed a jewelry turntable from Hobby Lobby some time ago.
I'm guessing this is based on the Revell Miss Deal???
Looks like it is right from the amt miss deal funny car Studebaker if it is I’ve got an original early release that is in opened
Miss Deal was Revell. Yes this is the Miss Deal kit, now produced by Atlantis. Manufactured in the USA. The AMT 53 Studebaker built stock, or as a Bonneville racer with a chopped top.
I like anything but white. I can’t see white and I use primer so 🤷♂️ I don’t mind the red plastic. Pants are dry sir.
So this gasser im guessing very loosly based off the 1953 Studabake Starliner coupe.
Man i just watched that front windshield install an im defanatly debating wether or not to get this kit now that did not look easily done....
Revell Miss Deal rebox.
Revell miss deal funny car
