Awesome video!!! Most helpful video on fish finder setup I've found. Thanks for taking the time to share this.

Thanks Aaron! We always appreciate knowing our videos are liked or helpful to others. As a bit of an update, this setup has been working like a champ. I also suggest cleaning your cable connections after EACH outing to avoid corrosion build up!

Great Video! I am saving this one for when I do finally upgrade to a Hobie. Great information though even if you don't have a Hobie Kayak.

Thanks! We definitely recommend it. We've caught plenty of good fish without one, but it's just nice to know your depth and what is going on under you, I also highly recommend getting one with charts built in, ours tracks our movement so we can easily re-trace steps or mark where we catch fish.

Well thought out and presented. How has it all worked out over time?

I've been told to coat the cable ends with Corrosion X gel after rinsing so you don't need to wash it constantly. And idk if you normally store your oasis on those saw horses like that normally but the instruction manual says to store it upside down because of the weight. I stored it like this for a day and the bottom of it bent and flattened out because of the weight

Nobody mentioned Corrosion X gel to us, but we'll definitely look into it! We do store the Oasis on the horses, but it is stored upside down with a cover on it. Just had it right side up for the work/video.

oh ok gotcha, Les (owner of Plenty Pupule Kayaks) told me about the corrosion x trick

How do you like the Oasis? My brother and I are looking at either a pair of revo 13's or an oasis, the concern being a tandem requires more teamwork but is cheaper than the individual yaks which provide more independence but cost more.

gascan i have a 2017 oasis also and absolutely love it but it depends on what you're targeting. If you're going for big pelagics often you may want to get the 2 singles. If you're just doing lake or close to shore fishing you won't have any issue with storage. You can even put the ama kit on the oasis with the h bar for standing on it if you want to but id only recommend that for flat water.

If you get singles get the outback, plenty of storage, stability and designed for fishing. Even is lowrance fish finder ready so you don't have to glue your transducer inside your kayak

Cheaper than 2x single kayaks is exactly why we got this Oasis originally. Since then we have also acquired a single kayak, and we can tell you that there are definitely pro's and con's to each. It does require more teamwork, and is a bit more of a hassle to load/unload, but to be honest there are a lot of benefits to having a buddy in the boat with you, if one of us is on a fish the other one automatically takes control of the kayak, watches out for waves, makes sure we're turned a good direction, etc. I guess the question would be how well do you two work as a team? We love the Oasis, but I think it's probably pretty hard to go wrong with any Hobie mirage kayak. We haven't tried the revolutions but we have used the Outback and the Pro Angler 12, all solid kayaks, but if you're looking to both get out on the water and catch some fish sooner than later it's definitely a good buy.

I got the oasis primarily for me to use it alone and have a HUGE amount of storage space in the front portion for any fish i catch. I use a 5' surfboard bag w/ frozen water bottles inside to store the fish and to weigh the oasis down in the front so its more evenly distributed.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to rent one to try it in the next week or two before buying anything. Have you thought about or tried the sail?

Idk If orientation does anything but it looks like your transducer is backwards... the black front part appears to be facing the rear of the kayak...

Hey Mark, we were wondering the same thing when we got the depth finder, there were no instructions on orientation, upon looking it up later what we found was that for most of these it doesn't matter as long as it's sitting flush on the bottom. If it were a system with "side image" then orientation would matter. So we just faced it the direction that helped the wiring run the smoothest.

Hows the tranducer work being inside the kayak? I'm sure the temp is definitely off not touching the water but how clear is the transducer like that? I thought it had to be epoxied inside to get a clear image.

Inside it can't get a temperature reading, but it has no problem seeing thru the duct seal. You might run into an issue if you put too much duct seal, but we haven't had an issue with that.

Should have got a Scotty transducer arm and mounting on a rail mount so you could bring it up so you dont scrape it in the shallows. #CoryBradshawFishing
