Graham Greene is Catholic?! I had no idea! _The Quiet American_ is on KU, so I added it to my Kindle. 😬 The Flannery O'Connor book was out of stock on Walmart when I checked, and it was only $11 and change on Amazon, so I ordered it. If I find my other copy, I'll add it to my stack of donations. 🤷🏼♀ I'm pretty sure that _Brideshead_ was another one of those "must read for Catholics" from Patrick Coffin's list of recommendations and I'll look forward to hearing what you think. I *do* love your edition of Father Brown! I just have the basic Penguin edition because...I'm basic. 😂 _A Shameful Murder_ sounds really good, sooo I purchased the Kindle edition. And lastly, _The Magdalene Deception_ is on KU and I added it to a Wishlist onaccounta I have reached my KU library limit! 😆 Thanks for sharing! 📚
@Lu.G. Ooops!! I "made" you but books again! 🤣😂💀 Greene is actually a Catholic convert, and I didn't realize that The Quiet American was on KU. I am going to have to go download it. I need to check if The Lawless Road is there too, travel account about his trip to Mexico to witness the forced secularization of Catholics. $11 in change is still a great deal for all of her short stories. Wordsworth Classics are still ridiculously low priced on Amazon, they've gone up to "normal" on Walmart. It is hard to resist beautiful covers and classics without annotations. But I am on a book buying ban.
I have read a lot of Graham Greene. The most overtly Catholic is The Power and the Glory along with The End of the Affair. His work is pretty dark and gritty about people enslaved to sin but sensing something greater they wrestle with the darkness in their lives. Flannery O’Connor and I don’t get along. But many people smarter than me love her. She’s brutal and darker than Greene. I have only attempted the short stories though maybe a novel would be something I should try. This is a great reading challenge. I love exploring Catholic authors.
@@faithbooks7906 I know Flannery only wrote two novels. I admit to being intensely curious. There is a lot of Catholic fiction out there, but it is poorly marketed and has nowhere near the social media presence of generic Christian fiction. I'm looking forward to discovering and sharing authors this year. 🥰
@@protagonistspubI just finished reading This Side of Paradise by F Scott Fitzgerald and it definitely has the Catholic world view as a recurring theme. I think there are novels where the conflict or the moral drama is informed by Catholic sensibilities and then there are works of fiction deliberately aimed at Catholic audiences. What is your Discord?
So excited for all the reccomendations 😊 sharing these with friends The only Catholics Fiction books I know of are: Father Elijah (Children of the Last Days Series) By Michael D O’Brien Arms of Love (The Courtship Duo-logy) by Carmen Marcoux And Third and Ten by Marie Veillon
Excited about this challenge and will be reading more Catholic fiction in 2025 ❤ I have 2 books from Chrism Press to start with and then want to switch over to some classics!
@protagonistspub Love in the Eternal City and Misshelved Magic ( I am hoping that Misshelved Magic is the Catholic answer to the book The Spellshop which I read earlier this year- I was so disappointed with the agenda pushing in that book. Missshelved Magic has a library with a magical section in it. I think it's going to be a little comparable to the Spellshop but in a good way).
@Dr.Monicalovestoread Love in the Eternal City is brilliant! I loved it so much I bought physical and digital. I just started Misshelved Magic. Best series, my opinion, published by Chrism is Molly Chase by @writingrhonda In Pieces is the first book and it is masterful historical fiction. Rhonda reads a couple of sample chapters on her channel. I am eagerly awaiting the release of Book 3.

@@protagonistspub Yes, you "made" me buy some books today! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! 😂 😉
Oh yeah I need to read The Well! It was a 24 in 24 book I didn’t read 😂
I had no idea about the Stephanie Landsem books! I really enjoyed The Well and The Thief, haven't yet read the Tomb.
@@miriamelizabethreads Yep! There is no indication on the books t themselves.
