Great job! I absolutely love my Roku. I moved back home with my parents and I use their basement tv and it’s perfect for when I have a guest over. I didn’t have to spend a lot of money for cable. So easy to use and set up. Love it!
Great tutorial, thank you! My wife and I are considering getting rid of cable TV and want to start streaming. My wife has several programs that she enjoys watching on network TV like ABC, CBS, and NBC that she needs to see as they air that day. How can she achieve this without cable TV? I don't think ROKU allows one to watch the local network channels that I mentioned, but I could be wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
Most of the major (traditional) networks have free streams; check with Roku to see if the specific programs your wife likes are available. I cut the cable about a year ago and it's different, but it's sure saved me lots and lots of $$
Hello I just received my roku streaming player I have nonsmart tv I'm at the point it showing the picture of the remote pairing I followed the picture on the screen but it's still not doing anything what is happening
I bought my Roku while on vacation in USA. Now I am in Canada and I can’t use live tv. I have tried to switch location address as I feel it needs to know I am somewhere else with different news content etc… do I need to reset to factory default???
I don't understand your question. If you have a streaming device from another company, you don't have a Roku. If you have a Roku that's a different shape, however, your experience should be basically the same once plugged in.
so whats all that scanning for wifi stuff its doing, if you have to type in your router number for it to connect to.. is that just for like if you take the roku stick on vaction with you, and it scans for some public wifi to connect to or something?
Just got mine to replace a basic roku. It won't send a signal. Tried all reset options. Original roku works fine. Purchased mine from Roku direct. Came with 30 day guarantee. They want me to pay return shipping.
@AskDaveTaylor Tried on 2 tvs, stick lights up with its white light. But, it just doesn't work. Reset button does nothing. Reinstalled the original basic Roku and it works fine. Purchased directly from Roku and I have to pay return shipping to get a replacement. So, I'll probably just return it for a refund.
I have a Roku stick, but my older TV has no USB. It does have HDMI Dash can I still use it on this TV with some kind of a cord that goes from USB to HDMI?
your gonna need a real strong internet connection before the software upgrade will begin the upgrade process, that being really a good thing, bc an update happening then a broke connection will cause problems. also you will have to put in your email and create acct. that way if you return it, they can tell if you've used it.
Plug it into the wall rather than the USB on your TV. It doesn't have a switch; if you power it up and you're on the correct input on your TV, it should appear.
@AskDaveTaylor carnt put in wall I'm I England we don't have panels for this so apps are done .Internet. Pass words done other security pass word done do I need a condition 🤔 box as wel thank you
im ordering one of these now for my bedroom t.v it is NOT a smart t.v. My living room one IS a smart t.v and i was going to pay to get TH-cam t.v for that one BUT now i wonder if i shouldnt put a roku stick on my smart t.v also and save the money i would of paid for TH-cam t.v
They're not really "apples and apples" because TH-cam TV offers a lot (at a premium price) that the default Roku lineup doesn't include. I'd compare channel lineups vs your preferred channels.
If you have Paramount + 4K, does it work well with Roku. I recently upgraded from a 1080P set to a Samsung 4K set only to find out that even though it has the Paramount + app available to install, Paramount + 4K is not compatible with Samsung TV's. Now I can see Roku has Paramount + right on the remote, but does it work well? Or is it glitchy? With my older TV, Paramount + was the one app that wasn't that easy to work with.
What do you mean? Does it physically not fit, or do you not see a signal when switching your TV to that particular input channel? If the latter, did you ensure that the external power is working?
Should work just fine. Are you seeing the setup screen on your TV? Are you entering the right password (careful with upper vs lowercase) for the right network?
@@AskDaveTaylorMy tv will not work now. It says above the screen "not connected" and I couldn't get back onto live tv. I had to disconnect my Roku TV and plug in my small 35"
But all those apps that you talked about you have to pay for them. You should talk about the free apps because Disney Netflix, Hulu, and all those Paramount have to be paid for with with a subscription
Sure, but there are lots more people who are buying a Roku so they can easily access Disney or Netflix, not so they can get the free, ad-supported streaming channels. Hardware vs. software.
Excellent description of the product and how to install it. I just got it for $24.99 on Amazon as a BlackFriday deal. Thank you! 15:58
You were born to teach, Dave!
Thanks, that's very kind of you to say!

Terrific installation guide. Thanks Dave.
Professional! Better Production quality than most TH-cam video.

@AskDaveTaylor thanks Dave, I'll check with Roku.

If you have multiple tvs, you need a roku for each to watch different channels?
That's correct.
I bought my Roku while on vacation in USA. Now I am in Canada and I can’t use live tv. I have tried to switch location address as I feel it needs to know I am somewhere else with different news content etc… do I need to reset to factory default???
That's beyond my pay grade, Donna. 🙂 I'd reach out directly to Roku support. Good luck!
YOU MIGHT NEED AN ANTENNA
All my apps have been deleted from my android tv can I use roku to download the app
What kind of adapter?
Depends on your TV. Does your TV have an HDMI port? USB-A? Then you should be good to go.
Do I have to have the ROKU stick I don't have the stick I have the other one

It's just trying to make your life easier by listing available Wifi networks rather than you having to type it in manually.
Do u need a coaxial cable to set up this tv ??
It's not a television. It's a device that you plug into a television and requires Internet connectivity.
Hi, thanks for great info. Wondering can this be used on a TV in an RV ?
Should work fine in an RV, but you'll still need an Internet connection for best results! 🙂
How do you get it going please tell me how to setup pleasei did and still don't work
That's the point of this video. Plug it in. Turn on your TV. Select the corresponding HDMI input and it'll walk you through the process.
Just got mine to replace a basic roku. It won't send a signal. Tried all reset options. Original roku works fine. Purchased mine from Roku direct. Came with 30 day guarantee. They want me to pay return shipping.
What do you mean "won't send a signal"? Have you tried plugging it into other devices and TVs to see if there's something else at play?

So strange. Really sorry you've had this problem!
thank you.

I don't believe that will work but you could look for an adapter on Amazon that has a generous return policy and give it a try.
Hello, i went through oretty much that you've done. But it will not update software. Would you inow what i might be doing wrong?
That's insufficient information. In any case, I strongly recommend you reach out to Roku customer service for assistance. Good luck!

hi thanks for your video.......Is TH-cam app. is built in Roku? If not, is it possible to download it on Roku? thank u so much
Yes, TH-cam is one of the apps already included with the Roku system.
All my apps have been remove from my tv is it possible to get them back on
What caused that to happen?
Ive finally done connected everything password. Internet all apps done but want switch on

@AskDaveTaylor could you tell me does that stick give you like fox news and CNN news discovery and animal planet ? I'm new to this technology lol
I encourage you to check out this page, Jenny: www.roku.com/blog/live-tv-channel-guide
is there a way you can schele to record a show?
No, that is not part of the featureset of the Roku, as far as I know.
So thorough!
What is error 003?
question; vcr?
The Roku does not offer a recording option for its streaming channels, no.
Thank you Dave How can I get rid of Commercial ads.
Depends on the channel / stream
I can’t pair it
Same thing happened to me I had to call AT&T. They booted it up and now it's okay.
Good luck

I don't have a Samsung TV to test it, but that seems odd that it isn't working smoothly for you.
@@AskDaveTaylor You don't need a Samsung TV. I asked if Paramount + 4K on the Roku Firestick works well.
I. Worried I'll spend more money to😅 get wifi on my Tv and it won't work
Do I need a computer
No. You need a screen or display you can plug it into, along with a wireless Internet connection, but that's it.
But you have to pay subscription fees and subscribe to each service.
There are plenty of streaming channels that are free, but yes, it doesn't include Disney, .AppleTV, MAX, or similar; those are separate accounts.
We have had more issues with this than the regular one that is not 4d
Won't connect to tv

What if your roommate has infinity service
Do you mean Xfinity? If so, should work fine, it's just another Internet access option...
I cannot connect!!!!

Pluto n tubing free
Sure, but that's a small subset of what's available, and TH-cam has oodles of adverts on its programs.
Wont vonect to internet
Hate to ask this, but are you sure you've entered your wifi password correctly? Can you take it to someone else's house and try it with their wifi?
I’m so versus the mothers of my daddy and my chips. Chips double zero semi Justin, eating chips Dustin Dustin Dustin eating chips😊
They don't have a phone number I looked everywhere
This might help you out: www.wikihow.com/Contact-Roku
This is hard. I don't have a stick
To much BS for me to watch TV
