I got my Roku streaming system but it keeps asking for me to subscribe to Comcast or other cable network,I thought I would be free from greed of cable companies with Roku.
I had to get a new tv for bedroom when cat killed my other smart tv so I bought a Roku tv and had no idea what it could do. Best purchase I could get for the price. I am still learning stuff. Highly recommend for seniors like myself who think old shows are better than ever. Thanks for all info on cord cutting since I just might do that too.
If you have, or can get, reasonable internet, I think cancelling cable or satellite TV makes sense for almost everyone. The prices have become outrageous and I got sick of their pricing games and contracts.
What do you mean when you say watching antenna live TV or watching roku tv? When you say antenna, does that mean the one on the roof or is it one through the roku
I was hoping you would introduce me to Roku. This is really about different channels I could watch. Someone who's new and a total novice to Roku need the bare basics explained.
A friend was kind enough to give me a ROKU player, to save me $100 a month (& I only watch one channel). So, I started here first, & found this video to be very informative & helpful. I’m not much of a tech, but liked & subbed. Thank you for the info!
What I find most frustrating about Roku is that we got it to get rid of cable. So we only have Spectrum internet. Yet when you want to add/subscribe to a new channel, you have to sign in thru your TV provider . But if you had one then you wouldn’t need Roku 🙀
I love my Roku tv. Have it for over 10 years now. I don’t need a lot of apps. I have about 5 that I watch the most. I have a regular tv antenna to pick up my news channel. I also have a app from my IPad which I can watch on my Roku tv.

I am struggling to distinguish between a smart TV featuring integrated apps and a Roku TV as both still require a subscription to access desired content. Therefore, I find the concept perplexing unless the complimentary services offered on Roku justify the purchase.
Thank you sir, you had the only video showing exactly what I needed to know. I wanted to know how this tv works with over the air antenna signal (free tv).
I still have cable and several tvs. Roku allowed me to get rid of all cable boxes since I could download the cable company app. I still want cable at least for now but I am not paying $11 for each TV box like before.
This is good info. I will try your advice in my home on my WiFi.. But what I also want to know is how to use RoKu on the road using the data plan on my phone. Can roku somehow pick up the internet from my data, not hotspot but data. Is this maybe done by casting? and how would I do that.
Id be curious that when you show all the apps you give a average cost as to the least amount it can cost per month for the app to the most expensive. TY
On the RoKu ultra remote, what are the 2 bottoms on the left side of the remote? Also I can play Primetime video on on my computer as a “guest” of my daughter’s, although she pays the monthly bill. So, can I activate the Prime video icon on my RoKu Primetime video app by Putting my daughters pass word on? That’s how I’m able to watch primetime from my computer. Also- the directions for using the Remote should be printed out in “large text” so I , at 78 can read the directions. Finally how can I stream from my iPhone onto my Tv?
The problem with streaming is the data caps from the internet provider, you pay when you go over and then you also pay for the streaming service. The service should be free when they play ads just like antenna tv

Is there anyway on the remote that will lighten up each of the keys so when you don’t have the lights on you can still see the remote. I have to charge my remote, but I don’t know how to tell if I should always leave it plugged in charging or should I once in a while and charge it and if I do that, how do I know when it has to be charged again?
I live in Puerto Rico and years ago in my tcl roku tv,i could see crackle app,now it does not work, only in my apple tablet and my samsung phone. I don't know if you know the reason.thanks for the updates.God bless.
Before you call your cable provider to cancel your tv service I suggest you test your internet speeds for a few days prior to making the call. The ISP may try to tell you that you will need faster internet but you will refuse. Then they could throttle back your internet speed forcing you to call back to pay more for higher speed internet. So test your down and uploads, then cancel the tv service. If you notice your computer running slower retest the speeds to determine if the cable provider indeed throttled back your speed.
I didn't watch the entire video so I apologize if you addressed the question I'm posing here. I'd just like to know if this ROKU device needs to necessarily be connected to a TV. I ask bc I don't watch TV much really. However I do watch a little TH-cam on my PC and was wondering if that would suffice. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.
If the roku streaming device is going on a living room TV, does it offer the feature to create profiles or User accounts? If, say, you live with relatives or friends who you don't share a netflix account with, and/or do not share content, can you easily log into and out of user accounts?

You forgot to mention that streaming from a Roku TV/device counts towards the data cap, and there's no way to lower the resolution, unless you're on TH-cam, Prime, Hulu, or whatever streaming lets you lower the quality to stay under that cap. I tried streaming stuff in HD 1080 for a month, and 3/4 the way through them month, Comcast alerted me I was nearly at the limit. I just got a Roku TV, and have to be very careful about what I watch. Mostly, it's just for local TV, and a monitor, but it's nice to have a backup means of watching a few movies, when the main screen is down. Thanks for the video.

Some Roku devices and TVs are too old and no longer supported. For example I can't access the Peacock app on one of my Rokus because it's too old
Do you have to download all the apps? And pay for them separately?
Might as well get rabbit ears for the TV if I can't connect to Roku.
If you have a TV antenna, just plug your cable in and an apt shows up on home page with all channels listed, Ruku tv's are great.
Before you call your cable provider to cancel your tv service I suggest you test your internet speeds for a few days prior to making the call. The ISP may try to tell you that you will need faster internet but you will refuse. Then they could throttle back your internet speed forcing you to call back to pay more for higher speed internet.
