A masterclass isn't only about overtakings... You must be fast in the rest of the track to be in a position to overtake. When it's dry everyone is on the same comfort zone, the driver overtaking and the one who got surpassed... when it is this wet, there are a lot of factors like tyres, slippery condition, aerodynamic setup, etc. Yeah, Max shows a lot more quality during the rain, but a lot of his opponents were struggling in these conditions, so it's "easier" to outclass them... The difficulty is high for Max but is high for the others on the track too, so if Max copes well with the challenge of driving in a wet track, then the gap will be huge. Overtaking in the rain can be done almost everywhere, because your opponent can lose the control of the car at any moment. Both are masterclasses in their own way, Max in the wet and Lewis in the dry. I prefer this one from Max, it's a bigger masterclass, but let's not act like everything below this isn't a masterclass too...

Better than this one from Max regarding this, only the ones from Senna or something like that. There was a reason both the commentators and people on the stands were either cheering or appreciating what Max showed that day. A rusty diamond back then yes, but maturing and increasingly developing into a champion now
It's 2021 4th last race of the season. Max is 12 points ahead of Lewis I guess. He's the fav to win the WDC, and if Checo beat Bottas, RB is taking the WCC as well. What a time. Edit: Dude took it, from Lewis Hamilton's Merc. Lewis was much faster but Checo was left on track to slow him down, and he did it like a legend, slowing Lewis 6s in one lap so Max could pressure him. Didn't do much at the time but when Latifi crashed with 5 laps to go, Lewis missed the advantage Checo took from him and couldn't box for new tires while Max did it. Masi goofed up again on race direction(told the unlapped cars to wait in position for two whole laps then let only the unlapped cars between Lewis and Max unlap themselves. In the end, it was Lewis on 40lap old hard tires vs Max right behind him on fresh softs with one full racing lap, Lewis' stans went big mad). Max overtook Lewis on the very last lap and pulled away for a first WDC. Frankly, I don't see Lewis stopping this guy next seasons, he'll probably leave in 1 or 2 years.
As impressive as this is, i think it's even more impressive if you consider that this isn't Verstappen in his prime yet, and the RB he's driving is basically a midfield car, at the level of ferrari or force india, but miles below the mercedes. This is why i have no doubts Max is the best driver on the grid today, and probably at the level of Schumi and Senna alike
He does this throughout but at 3:10, it really shows how Verstappen is comfortable in finding new lines that could potentially be quicker (prior to this moment) and then utilizing these lines on the vast majority of drivers who do have an altered racing line from the dry; but they're all almost one and the same IN that wet racing line.. Verstappen at such a young age and only his second season in, just completely at one with himself in incredibly high-pressure from the team, the fans, the environment, the g-forces, the visibility, straight back to composure after the near collision with the wall. How does a kid have THAT much belief in himself over drivers on the grid who've raced longer than he's been alive!? Max is a true icon in terms of believing in oneself, keeping mental dexterity, resiliency and focus and to always reach for more than you thought possible. It was only a matter of time before he become a world champion (one of many to come). It's too big a loss not to if you've been racing pretty much since getting a kart when others of similar age were struggling to ride bikes without the training wheels.

no need to warm up wet tires u think :P
1. He was in the fastest car apart from the Mercs who were 1-2 at the point of the race. 2. Max pitted in lap 55 for fresh wet tyres under the safety car 3. He had the fastets package after the pitstop -> fresh tyres plus RB (2nd fastest car ontrack in 2016). BUT yes he has done a fantastic job BUT no he was not better than Hamilton, Vettel , Nasr or Perez in this race. But yeah he put on a brilliant show.

He’s got to win it this season

These uninterrupted, no music, onboard videos are great, more please! One suggestion - add in the drivers's current position
He makes the other drivers look stupid 😂 what a legend in the rain! He‘s incredibly quick!
A master class in wet weather racing from a young Max. Alternative lines, very smooth throttle and steering inputs, short shifting to manage torque, using kerbs in places where the others are unable to. Very impressive stuff and great footage.
MAN LOOK AT HIS HANDS! It looks like a machine, doing milimetric changes and corrections. I'm not a very big fan of Max, but these drivers are insane and watching this on rain is just brilliant. Hope you guys release more videos of driver's pov's like this, it's really interesting
The braking in turn 1 was so precise every single time. Never locking up or running wide. Beautiful to watch
