I love Gatlinburg and the Smokies. I'm glad they recovered from that major fire a few years ago where Dolly Parton donated so much of her money to help locals rebuild their homes and jobs.

You were literally right at the best coffee shop in Gatlinburg. Coffee and Company is in a nook just to the right of The Donut Friar! Also the cabin you showed at the beginning is the cabin that used to be near where Anakesta is. They moved it and preserved it.
I could sit and listen to that rushing river all day; I’ve really enjoyed seeing all the different States on this road trip, but I’m pleased for you that you’re heading home. : )
It is pronounced OH-gle, long O. The Ogle family is huge as well as two or three other families but Ogle's are prob#1. You say Ah-gle, you may get a dirty look. Also try Frontier Coffee shop in Gatlinburg. Really good place and java.

Awesome video. I haven't been through Gatlinburg since I was about 10 or 11 (1981/1982). I don't recall it being so congested or busy with people/tourists back then. It still has its charm however. And it will always bring back sweet, sweet memories of listening to Ronnie Milsap ("...He was going as far as Gatlinburg..." - Smoky Mountain Rain.) Like everyone before me has commented, you do the best traveling vlogs out there. No matter what town - big or small - you always find something extraordinary and new to show us. Enjoyed it ! The morning you left we arrived later in the afternoon for an over nighter in Pigeon Forge. That wax museum that was torn down was the Christus Gardens, it was built in 1960. It was a great place to visit, the wax figures were so life like. It was the life of Christ in wax dioramas. I first visited it about 1972 and a few years ago took my mother back to see it, she was the one that took me. So, I was kind of shocked to see it was gone. From what I understand, the owners sold to property and were planning to open it back up over in Pigeon Forge...that is about the only thing I have been able to find out. I really miss the old Hillbilly Village in Pigeon Forge, it was probably one of the oldest road side attractions over there. Should have been preserved. I think Gatlingburg has sort of Peaked out, way too much change for me, it has become more like Myrtle Beach and seems to be loosing the old cozy mountain feeling. Pigeon Forge in My opinion had really more to offer these days. I will say the Ripley's museum, Ole Smoky Candy Kitchen, The Aquarium, Hillbilly Golf and a few other attractions are still great over in G'Burg, but so many of the old touches that made it special are disappearing. I was disappointed when they moved the Ogle Cabin to make a parking lot, it and Ogle's market across the street seemed to keep the old home front presence. I guess this is all progress, the newer generations have different interest.
Thanks for the tour. I'ts grown up alot since I was there as a kid. I rode that old relic chairlift when I was a kid. Got a picture they took at the top of the mountain in it with my Grandpa. The name Ogle is pronounced with a long O. Kind of like oh-gle. I went to school with some Ogles.
Adam will you document some of the historical sites on the Outer Banks during one of your trips through N.C.? Lot's of awesome things to document there. Kitty Hawk N.C. where the Wright Brothers acheived the first flight is one of them!!!
Thanks for showing all the updates to Gatlinburg. Used to go a couple times a year and now haven't been in years. Saved me from dealing with all that traffic! Triggered my memory though with some of the spots were part of a haunted tour one time. Definitely a good time.

I remember alot of things named in the area after Ogles, Thorpe's and Ogle-Thropes, but I don't know which places specifically. Great video Adam, I grew up going to the Smokies every year and now it's a special place to my kids, as well.

At 12:20. That was a McDonald's. The mall used to be a hotel. We stayed there when I was a kid. Ate breakfast at that McDonald's a few days when we were there. I think McDonald's moved into, what used to be, Long John's Silvers just down the road.

I visited the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area with family, and when we first travelled there in the early 1990's I clearly recall that not only were there many miniature golf courses throughout the region, but numerous go- kart tracks could be found throughout the region too (Fast Eddie's was a popular favorite with my family). Most of them disappeared as the decades passed by.

Nice to just walk around and look at the environment. I was trying to spot the area I remember visiting back in 1988-ish but the place has changed so much since then. I wonder if they have an off-site parking lot with a tram service? Traffic gets pretty crazy!

Have you ever been to the Christmas shop in Pigeon Forge? I’m from Tennessee and we used to go there every year and get a family ortiment to hang on our tree. I haven’t been there in years!! Gatlenburg is definitely one of my absolute favorite places 🥰 thank you so much for this video!!
HEY ATW...I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS ABOUT THE GATLINBURG AREA, but it is such a cool town! I remember all the times you've been there and every time was something different. How many places can you visit several times and each time is different!?!! Well, Gatlinburg is such a place! Even the same 'ol rides are some kind of new! Thanks ATW! I enjoyed seeing how the town has progressed. Too bad about the beaten down area.
Hey Adam, you should stop by the town of Helen in the Northern part Georgia on your way back to FL. Cool little German themed town! Growing up in FL my family would stop by there sometimes on trips up to the northeast back in the late 80’s early 90’s. Hey Adam, Not sure if you have done it before, but the next time you are in the NC area you should check out the Transportation Museum in Spencer. Lots of train history.

I've spent a few days in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge... the place is so tacky and such a tourist trap... I love it! Recently I got to the Wisconsin and walking along Broadway, the Dells main street, it reminded me so much of Gatlinburg, biggest differences were the street was wider and no mountains, and just down the road is Lake Delton, which is very much like Pigeon Forge (but smaller). Great stuff!

I liked Gatlinburg best from the ‘70s. Shops with creaky wood floors. Candle shops, candy shops. Had awesome pickles in large wine barrels.

Great day Adam and boy is it crowded out there and I remember the many times you’ve been there before throughout the years and I’ve never seen it this crowded but I must say with all times you’ve been there on different road trips its been nothing but fun hanging out with you but walking around there in this video was awesome because I got to explore the area along with you and exploring and taking pictures and video of places that I’ve never been is so my thing to do so thanks for the adventure through that area also you mentioned you are heading home well I’ll admit I got a little teary eyed because a part of me doesn’t want this road trip to end because I’ve had the most fun I’ve had in along time and because of you I’ve seen things on this road trip I would have never seen so I must thank you for showing me things I didn’t know existed and you’ve taught me so much about the history of different places throughout this trip thank you I will never forget this road trip now with being said peace ☮️ love ❤️ and happiness to you Adam and I’ll see you on the next vlog adventure also please be safe out there peace ☮️ out ✌️

At 12:20. That was a McDonald's. The mall used to be a hotel. We stayed there when I was a kid. Ate breakfast at that McDonald's a few days when we were there. I think McDonald's moved into, what used to be, Long John's Silvers just down the road.

I visited the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area with family, and when we first travelled there in the early 1990's I clearly recall that not only were there many miniature golf courses throughout the region, but numerous go- kart tracks could be found throughout the region too (Fast Eddie's was a popular favorite with my family). Most of them disappeared as the decades passed by.
unfortunately there's no gokarts in Gatlinburg, but there are plenty of different tracks in PF

Do we really need a dozen of them wasting prime real estate space on the strip where fun tourist-trap attractions should be vying for my every dollar? The haunted houses, fake earthquakes, and dinosaurs are what I really want. As for putt-putt, Hillbilly Golf is all I will ever want. So glad, it survived the fires

Nice to just walk around and look at the environment. I was trying to spot the area I remember visiting back in 1988-ish but the place has changed so much since then. I wonder if they have an off-site parking lot with a tram service? Traffic gets pretty crazy!
you can park in PF at Patriot Park and then ride the trolley bus around even out to G'burg

Hey Adam, you should stop by the town of Helen in the Northern part Georgia on your way back to FL. Cool little German themed town! Growing up in FL my family would stop by there sometimes on trips up to the northeast back in the late 80’s early 90’s. Enjoying these videos of your marathon road trip across the country, it’s pretty epic 👍

I've spent a few days in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge... the place is so tacky and such a tourist trap... I love it! Recently I got to the Wisconsin and walking along Broadway, the Dells main street, it reminded me so much of Gatlinburg, biggest differences were the street was wider and no mountains, and just down the road is Lake Delton, which is very much like Pigeon Forge (but smaller). Great stuff!
