What's Next for Hitch Trailblazer?? "MLP A New Generation" Review

- To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised by Hitch. He has a great balance between outward confidence and inner hesitation. Plus...I think he has almost as many funny moments as Izzy :)
I know Izzy has some serious fans, but I think Hitch is the best character in the new generation. Not only was he the funniest, he was the most multifaceted.
In some ways he's a stereotypical macho man but the same time he's not. He'll do a calendar photoshoot one day, visit Sunny the next, and help out some critters the day after that, he's a pretty complex dude! I love how he's just a nice friendly guy even though he's popular in town. The man just wants to be helpful and he succeeds at it! It's applause worthy writing from My Little Pony given how most female oriented cartoons tend to make their male characters jokes and that's if they have male characters at all! But G5 has higher standards than that and are putting in the effort to make him a great character!
He's definitely my favourite
Can't disagree with you, you do have the high ground after all
I agree
I would say that Izzy and Hitch are my favorite of the main 5
Edited : my*
Very much agree, although I think Izzy came out slightly ahead, I am revealed to see a male character that is neither a background joke or taking over. Hitch is just part of the group and I love that.
I would like to see episodes with him still being a sheriff helping ponies, see his friendship with Sunny improve more, and his bonds the others from the Mane 5 as well. Also, it would be nice to see some funny episodes with him and the animals, and even just about him in general. Hitch is a much better character than I thought he would be, and he is really funny like Izzy. I expect a lot of great and funny moments with him in the series.
It'd be interesting to see other sides of Hitch's job as sheriff like maybe we could see him do a stakeout or conduct an investigation in a "Who done it?" episode, or even reveal laws in Maritime Bay that we didn't hear about in the movie.
I believe that if Hitch and Izzy will stay together (and no, I do not mean romantic, let's not misunderstand) in an episode these two would be a chaotic dynamic, at least Hitch and Izzy at least I imagine them in the style of Pinkie Pie and Sunset Shimmer as an example although there is EG, but I think my point is understood.
I also hope to see Sprout, Philis, Queen Haven, etc. I hope to see their growth and learn to be more accepting
Hitch was a good addition to the franchise as far as male representation that wasn't toxic.
Or smacked with the stupid stick.
Would make a good character for boys to look up to.
Mlp in g4 had really good male characters as well spike, discord, bulk byceps, big daddy macoof, big mac, Cranky doodle etc
@@informationyes yeah but they were either background characters or punching bags for the sake of a joke
@@lilj362 yep tho spike was closest to a male main character for years
I really love Hitch. Even tho his and Sunny's ideas didn't match at first, he still showed respect. And he accepted that other ponies were harmless. I love that side of him so much.
he and sunny balance each other
He didnt even mind playing pegasus and unicorn with Sunny lolll
I like how he grew and showed genuine development as a character. Once he realized he'd been wrong about the other races, he changed his views rather than clinging to them.
Since he's the local Sheriff, I'm kinda hoping to have some detective/mystery type episodes centered around him.
Definitely!
A detective episode when all the animals help Hitch to solve the case
@@ilikericepudding5575 criminal: how did you find me?!
Hitch: a lil' birdie told me
Maybe he and Zipp could have a "buddy cop" episode where they solve a crime together. Zipp using her scientific smarts and athleticism, while Hitch uses his cop training and army of critters against the perpetrator.
@@82dorrin
Hitch: The Princess is willing to go easy ony you, but something smells rotten to me.
Criminal: All-allright I'll talk! We actually give those cards to customers as a marketing scheme to make sure they keep coming back. Everyone in town has one.
Hitch: I don't have one
Criminal: Well someone has to pay normal prices
I appreciated that HItch wasn't a love interest and not a sidekick/joke character like Spike was
I mean is not bad if he turn out to be a love interest of someone of the mane 5, but as long as they keep writing him good then everything is welcomed
I don't think a romantic interest will affect him as long as he's not treated like Spike in comic terms on the show or Flash Centry, and write the character well... everything will be fine.
Spikes underrated
@@crystalbae0909 posted 4 seconds ago😏
Spike wasn't a joke character he was very competent to show, crucial to many plots and even saved the crystal empire twice
I think his kindness element might tie into a redemption arc for Sprout. Hitch has been tolerative of Sunny with her constant shenanigans and bailing her out frequently. If he could see Sprout in a depressed state, he could extend his hoof and offer him a chance to better himself and make up for the damage he's done (and conquer his fears).
Also, since Hitch is the only one in the group to have neither a horn nor wings, he could discover what magic earth ponies could have. Earth pony magic like super strength, the sixth sense, and botanokinesis to name a few. They might outline earth pony magic more in this generation and it wouldn't be so overlooked anymore. Who knows? They may even discover never before seen abilities.
There was a hint of that in that end credits scene with the three foals; the one who's an Earth pony unbeknownst to the group leaves a trail of magic heart-shaped hoofprints. Earth pony magic perhaps?
@@silasruedin9566 As if Hasbro would forget they had magic too. By the way I stayed to the absolute end to ensure I didn't miss anything. So yeah, I saw that my first watch too.
I think it would be cool if hitch and sprout have a fluttershy and discord dynamic, where the others still don't trust sprout but hitch sticks up for him because he still sees good in him since they were childhood (foalhood?) Friends
I think one of the things that'll happen with Hitch is that he'll probably look for a new deputy because Sprout will probably no longer be in law enforcement, although i could also see him possibly pursue a side career involving animals.
Get it back, he never lost it
@@nonbinaryartist8661 Get it back he never lost it, nothing you simpleton.
I could easily see Sprout evolving into a character somewhat like the unreformed Starlight over time.
@@hifibrony that would only really happen if he doesn't get reformed by the main 5.he seemed to only be motivated by jealousy of hitch, protection from his mother (and in whole the town),and unwillingness to change when he saw the three tribes working together
Zipp is gonna be hitch's new deputy
If i were one of the writers, I'd place Hitch as a reverse Fluttershy. Confident on the outside, but insecure on the inside.
Hitch shows passion, courage and strength. But deep down his mane, he's still a child. He doesn't show or share his fears or insecurities with others, but instead buries them away.
Being brave and being fearless are two different things. Who knows? He might grow on the inside rather than the outside.
Maybe he can have a arc where he feels inferior when compared to Pegasus and unicorns, maybe a unicorn with amazing magic or a very skilled Pegasus becomes new deputy’s, and given Pegasus and unicorns natural talent of flight and magic respectively he might feel like he can’t perform his duties a sheriff.
And possibly after a talk with Zipp and Pipp does he get back his confidence to return to his duties as sheriff, Only to find he didn’t lack anything, and that his two new deputies are very bad at keeping everyone calm and collected during some a dangerous time, I personally like the think of a horde of animals start destroying everything due to a lack of hitch.
*Y*
*E*
*S*
I love that that direction. Hope the writers can do something like that.
I love this! It would be amazing if there was a episode like this!
Sounds formulaic. It also simplistic because it devalues the intelligence and might of the other races to elevate Hitch, which is to say it doesn't elevate him at all. The other two just happen to be bad at their job.
@@jaybonn5973 youre right, i also think that thats not a really great way to set it up; maybe the new sheriff and he just had a misunderstanding and they learn to work together?
Hitch is such a good example of positive masculinity. He's kind, caring, and his bond with animals is a stereotypically feminine trait no one makes fun of him for in-universe. I think that's good for giving young boys a role model and for teaching young girls what standards they should have for the boys and men in their lives.
I initially assumed Hitch was going to fall into what I call the "Valliant Himbo" trope, where he's charismatic, but really not the brightest bulb, even while having a brave heart. He does somewhat have this, seeing as he is shown to be very charismatic and handsome (He has his own calendar after all) and there was the bit with him "Rescuing" the colt and handing them off to some random mare thinking that was his mother. But he doesn't really fall into being a Himbo past that.
Hitch is definitely one of My favorite characters in G5 so far. I love how he’s a male main character in a cast that’s predominantly female without making him look stupid, incompetent or a jerk. I mean he definitely does have this goofy side to him as well as some overconfidence but thankfully it doesn’t come across as “toxic masculinity”. As for his element being kindness and him being this “animal magnet” There probably maybe is some connection with Fluttershy but let’s wait and see. And as someone in a previous comment section said Hitch being kindness feels really fresh in the sense that “kindness” is something more associated with femininity. Plus a part of me is already low-key shipping him with Pipp but again let’s wait and see what’s happens.
I hope there will be no Fluttershy connections or any connections whatsoever to the Mane 6. Not exactly standing on your own when you have to rely on G4 so much to the point when it looks like G4 is slowly taking over.
@@0deadx21 It's literally the same continuity though. It's inevitable that G4 characters will be mentioned and there's a strong possibility that some of the immortal characters or descendants of the Gen 4 ponies are still around. It doesn't mean that Gen 5 will be taken over by Gen 4, but it's the same timeline so of course there's going to be cross-overs and continuations of what we know from the past. Just like how in real life historical figures and events have connections to how the world currently is.
Hitch was easily one of my favorite characters of this film, he’s fun, funny, caring, and lots more, he was great.
I hope they include Hitch in the series I feel he and Suny balance each other out He helps try to keep her grounded in reality as while she means well does not always think things through and causes a huge mess and he could help her think things through more, and she helps him learn to open up to other things. Also, they could do some things where he and Izzy could compete for Sunny's best friend. and maybe have him learn to fully understand animals
HE IS A MAIN CHARACTER, YOU IDIOT, OF COURSE HE'S GONNA BE IN THE SERIES.
@@0deadx21 wooooooaaaaa no need to be mean to them

I personally like the idea of Hitch being a descendent of Fluttershy simply because they are so different personality-wise, with Hitch being confident and taking charge in dangerous situations and Fluttershy being timid and soft-spoken. It's a nice contrast and it would be fun seeing them interact if there's ever any time travel shenanigans.
Having a stallion as a main character is a welcome change from the all-female pony mane groups from G1 to G4. I'm really interested to know how he became Sunny's friend and how he got the position of sheriff instead of Sprout. He may share Fluttershy's gift, but he hasn't yet embraced it. He could use his authority to protect animals from habitat destruction for example. While he does share the same animal charisma as Fluttershy, I don't think he's a descendant of her because that would be cliché, plus he no doubt came from a long line of Earth Ponies and we never see Fluttershy with a mate, only Discord. Hitch has been proven wrong about unicorns and pegasi being monsters so he may be more open to Sunny's ideas than before. It would be an achievement if he could befriend Discord.
Perhaps Hitch will be sherif but not just dedicated to protecting earth ponies but also sherif to other kinds of ponies as well. And since Hitch is a critter magnet perhaps he’ll do something that involves helping animals and critters too?
Just my thoughts though :)
I loved and enjoyed Hitch alot, much MUCH more than I expected. He is a very welcomed new main character!
Giving him a connection with animals is one of the key features that makes him work so well, but yeah, he has a beautiful character, too!
Hitch was a very good surprise as a character.
When i saw him for the first time months ago, i thought (and i bet a lot of fans too) he would be a tipycal confident male character who is an idiot and it's humilliated by the strong independent women group.
But at the end he is a great character. Is confident but smart enough to question himself and the entire sistem once he meet the other ponies. His interactions with all the other main characters is genuine and organic.
Also, he cares about sunny, his childhool friend whitout being a simp. That's good to.
Hitch is so relatable to me in the way that animals are drawn to him whether he likes it or not. I hope he continues to get interesting development
Critters chase you?🙃
@@shangothunder1055 Not exactly chase, but animals are weirdly obsessed with me and only me. All my animals favour me (And follow me around), and wild and outdoor animals are generally more friendly towards me. Also I’m the only one apart from my grandmother that can touch her cat for example, and I only visit a couple times a year. It’s obviously not as extreme as Hitch, though

What would inspire Sunny & her friends to:
1. Rediscover the non-pony species that was once affiliated with Equestria.
2. Find the new Elements of Harmony.
3. Rediscover the Crystal Empire.
4. Finding out what happened to the old G4 characters.
I agree with you. 😎
i want to see them do that
If Hitch is the Element of Kindness, the reason could be he is destined to help bring Discord back into the world. Would be interesting (and hilarious) how this disciplined, littter-phobic, and by-the-book lawpony will get along with the Lord of everything he despises. XD
Ugh. No Discord, forget it, keep him out of the show.
@@0deadx21 I hope we at least get an explanation of what happened to him. He's supposed to be immortal, so his absence is odd from an in story perspective. Of course, I am hoping we eventually get explanations for what happened to the alicorns and Spike (dragons should have long lifespans). Oh, and a confirmation that the villain trio got out of their stone prison when magic failed and simply spent the rest of their lives either in a normal dungeon or wandering around and stealing to survive. Yeah, I know that has nothing to do with the lore and unanswered questions, I just want to be assured that Cozy didn't stay in stone forever.
I can imagine that happening but instead of a funny interaction I imagine a sad one where discord looks at hitch and be reminded of fluttershy "you remind me of somepony who was very dear to me...... Although...... I haven't seen her in years........... "
You see Hitch is a stunning example of this cool concept that writers do called giving their characters a personality. I saw it in the teaser and I stand by it.
Hitch is the most rounded character because there has never been external pressure to make him greater than what he is: He is a guy in a group of girlfriends who helps a lot. Thats it. No sweeping message or ideology or symbolism. He's just what happens when you write out your imagination.
I really liked this character. At first I thought he was going to be cocky and aways getting the short end of the stick. He is my favourite for this generation
If James Marsden comes back, I would love if he got to sing a Hitch-dedicated song in the series.
I would love a solo Hitch song in the series, I was sad he didn't sing more in the movie
I consider this a huge missed opportunity for this film alone ^^; I was expecting him to have at least a duet with Sunny at some point.
Yes.
i think that Hitch really cared about Sunny, even before their journeys when Sunny was a troublemaker. he remained Sunny's only the friend while no-one else wanted to be involved with her.

Actually, I like all of them. The personalities are all a lot more nuanced than G4. Very refreshing. None of them are completely over the top and even Izzy pulls off the quirky Pinke Pie vibe while still seeming thoughtful and approachable.
I'm more of a fan of Hitch and Pipp myself.
Wow, not even a month later and we already have bad shipping for G5. Great, the fandom still sucks.

I like how he can be funny one moment and serious the next. He has some complexity to him and I enjoy that. His future? Magic has returned so I could see him being cautious in uniting the 3 pony tribes and acting somewhat overprotective of Sunny in future adventures. Are the pegasi and unicorns going to be naturals at flying and spellcasting or are there going to be many accidents? I could see Hitch trying to maintain order as a sheriff if it ends up being the latter and that can lead to many funny moments. Maybe he'll start relying on animals more and more for gathering info in future episodes. Even if he doesn't understand his natural connection to animals, he doesn't seem to be against it that much. Maybe he'll figure it out.
i genuinely thought i was going to hate hitch when i saw the teasers and trailer but i absolutely love him!! he is probably my top comfort character of all time
it was so refreshing to see that he wasnt bound to a gender role and was written with the same quality as the rest of the mane 5.
i just hope they can continue writing him like the way they are.
A stallion as a mane character? Gasp! But seriously, Hitch is one cool guy and look forward to seeing how he evolves and embrace his yet to be determined destiny with animals /)
So far the best guy and is the element of kindness. Looking forward to seeing more of him.
I would like to see an episode called " The noodle incident" which Hitch and Sunny argue that "this situation is just like the noodle incident." during the show without explanation leaving the other 3 wondering what it was .
Or they eventually tell the others offscreen, then show them all laughing about it, but we (the audience) never find out. 🤣🤣🤣
My favourite hitch's line
'MAAAAAAYYYYYYYOOOONNNNAAAIIIISSSEEE'
I like that the characters are starting to pull away from the archetypes from g4. g4 also had its great moments with the mane 6’s characters becoming more complex, but g5 really understood the assignment
The shenanigans alone are going to make the series worth watching. There's so many funny and sweet moments they can get out of this. I really appreciate Hitch being a confident and 'masculine' guy while also shown to be kind, empathetic, and supportive. So often we see the two as opposites and contradictory, this is such a nice thing to see especially on a property aimed at young girls.
Honestly, I wish Hitch's development arc in the movie got more screentime. He was a great character, especially from the campfire scene onwards, but it feels like we got his story arc compressed into three scenes or so to just touch on the major beats of it.
In the foalhood flashback we saw him affirm that what Sprout said was what they were taught in history class, but going right from that to agreeing to play with Sunny's toys the way she wanted and saying that he didn't mind. After that flashback though, we hardly ever see him display that internal conflict he has despite how central it is to his character development.
It would've been nice for him to have a scene just after Sunny and Izzy leave Maretime Bay of him looking back over the city and seeing all the citizens who got stuck in the unicorn traps and splatapult goo as the first big moment where he wonders if the current letter of the law is truly what's best for Maretime Bay and for Equestria. He also could've used some lines about his concern for Sunny's safety while following her trail. I'd also have liked to see Sunny's pep talk at the campfire include a bit of inspiration to the core of Hitch's motivation to fully tie around his development arc.
There are missed opportunities for some small interaction moments too, like Pipp idly humming and Hitch absently dancing to it as the group walks along, before they realize in sync and awkwardly shuffle a step away from each other then continue on.
I like Hitch he's like the straight man of the group The keep sunny under control not only did he feels like the awkward guy in the group of girl ponies, in the future series I want to see how his friendship grows with the other girls
I think it would be cool for a Hitch episode focus on the idea that Hitch can actually understand animals now that magic has returned- sort of a “yes Earth Ponies have magic too.” I mean one of the reasons I think Sunny didn’t realize that there was a third crystal is that in general, earth pony magic is a lot more subtle and specialized compared to unicorn magic or pegasus flight. Applejack’s manifested in her bucking strength, Pinkie’s in her Pinkie Sense (and general slapstick), and Limestone Pie’s in her ability to see the insides of geodes (from the episode Mud Briar was introduced, where she pointed out a geode before it was cracked and pinkie couldn’t see it) as well as the other members of the Pie family’s affinity for rocks. There are probably other examples, but those are the ones off the top of my head.
Which does bring into question, if the three pony types had no magic left, how did cutie marks and special talents persist?
While I think being a descendent of flutter shy would be cool, in the comics, they have said that critters form a bond with people more if they listen to them, so maybe hitch just listens to them, which is why critters follow him around
Hitch is my favourite pony and I can honestly say I wasn’t expecting it! But he is awesome :D Everpony is!
Hitch was the sleeper hit for me. I loved Hitch and Sunny the best by far.
I hesitate to mention this but, it's possible Hitch will be the one to reach out to the other creatures across Equestria.
MLP:FiM season 1, episode 7 was titled, "Dragonshy": Fluttershy had to face her fears and confront a dragon who was being a hazard to Ponyville and a bully to her friends.
Since Hitch is the new element of Kindness and has a little herd of critters who adore him. It's quite possible that he'll be the one to re-establish contact with dragons, griffons, hippogriffs, changlings and help them all find a place they belong in Equestria or in their own society.
It's also possible that Hitch will learn from these other cultures about leadership, tough love, motivation, or heroism.
Since The Mane 6 introduced these other cultures to "the magic of friendship" it would be interesting to see how those lessons carried on throughout time; and perhaps it's these creature's opportunity to return the favor.
That would be a nice way to get them back!
I think the whole animal thing might be a reference to his actor's past films, such as Hop and Sonic the Hedgehog.
He'll befriend a hedgehog and start calling Hitch, "Donut Lord" followed by wearing a ruby quartz visor. Because... Hitch DID wear an red blind shades in the song "Fit Right In". :p
Or maybe befriend a rabbit in a flannel, and become the Easter bunny
Or befriend a squirrel that'll help him save a princess in another world?
Hitch + animals = reintroducing other magical creatures like dragons maybe
It’s hard for me to catch up on every discussion, but it’s nice seeing how much a lot of you have been enjoying the New Generation of My Little Pony so far.
Wonder if his Earth Pony magic kicked in. Be funny to see him initially being cautious with his strength
He cursed by discord.
I can already imagine a scenerio where hitch kicks a door to close it but accidentally brakes it because of his new strength and be like " I knew I was strong, but not THAT strong"
@@lilj362 hahaha i like your idea
hitch having animal companions gravitate toward him almost instantly plays really well into the headcannon that earth ponies do have a magic that just makes them have certain talents beyond what a regular pony could do to varying degrees. Like you have nomral earth ponies and then chosen ones.
I feel like the thing with him and small animals could also be considered a nod to James Marsden (hitch Va) and how he’s been in several movie where he has a 3d/ cgi animal sidekick.
Its not just his connection to animals thats strongly suggests he's Fluttershy's descendant, its also the way he dances to music too.
But that campfire scene and his personal sense of vanity is what makes me think he's from Zephyr Breeze's side of the family.
I think both Hitch and Zipp each combine various personality traits and aspects of Rainbow Dash and Applejack, with some Fluttershy on Hitch's side added to it.
Hitch is best pon x3
When i saw the big tree with these pink leaves I thought at the tree of harmony too, but it was natural. Now I'm impressed that this is actually the tree of harmony. I hope we get to see more of it in the show.
Judging by the film alone, I don't think the elements that the MLP staff assigned to Hitch, Zipp, and Pipp truly line up. Respectively, I think Zipp's element is more likely truth (seeing that she hated the royal family's lie and learned science solely to get away from using strings to fake flying) and Pipp's element is altruism (sure, in the film, she displays a personality akin to Rarity, but perhaps her being an influencer could have been out of a good place); as for Hitch, while kindness is a possibility, he also have a bravado and love for being a sheriff that doesn't allow kindness to sit right as his element - I could be wrong; if Captain America were assigned an element of harmony, what would it be?
Integrity, maybe? Or righteousness!
I feel like duty or responsibility would be Hitch's and Captain America's element.
Even after her life being screwed up, she still helped and followed her sister and was unafraid of the earth pony and unicorn in front of her even tho her mom was freaking out.
I think it characterizes her in such a way where she’s clearly caring and isn’t that discriminatory compared to some of the other cast, besides Sunny
@@sweetmelody2046 Your answers got me thinking, and I eventually settled on goodness. It's the point of Captain America, and it fits Hitch to a T.
@@ma.2089 Why did Pipp discriminate Sunny?
I would say Hitch could join with Sunny and the others on their journey to these unexpected events beyond Equestria, but he'll need someone else to mind his law enforcement job, not Sprout because he's not cut out to be a sheriff, due to his ridiculous actions that could've gotten someone hurt.
Outward confidence and inner hesitation
That's why he's perfect for the element of kindness
I'm already liking his character more than fluttershy since she be all this or all that
He could be a descendent of fluttershy or a rencarnation of her but she comes back as a male and he is now more asertive since fluttershy being a pushover was something the fans complained about
He has an intrinsic "mellow, smart big brother" vibe.
I'll be honest: I don't care for Izzy.
But Hitch? Favorite. Absolute favorite.
I don't care what happens to Hitch's character in the show
But...
I really hope they don't do any lovey dovey fanfiction crap with him.
I compare his character to Doughnut Lord from the Sonic movie, honest caring cops who love the town and the people they're protecting and appreciated by the masses in return. I hope we get more of his humorous cop moments combined with his development in the coming series
I love the Hitch character and look forward to seeing what the MLP writers do with him going forward. The one thing I hope NOT to see is the predictable "let's put Hitch and Sunny together romantically" storyline. I'm not against shipping. And if you like the idea of Hitch and Sunny as a couple, more power to you. But given there's an established childhood friendship there, I'd love to see the writers use this as an opportunity to show a genuine platonic friendship between male and female lead characters without needing to rely on the all too overused "They end up together" angle. It'd be refreshing to see. Either way, I'm very much looking forward to see where this series goes and whether we get any more callbacks to the lore of G4.
Same, id like to see the upcoming series explore their whole childhood friend dynamic instead of just cramming in some romance between them. Besides, there was def Some Zipp and Hitch chemistry in the film, though only a little
I honestly hope hitch doesn't end up falling in love with any of his friends, I want hitch to just be platonic with his best friends, just because he's friends with girls doesn't mean he has to have romantic feelings toward them
@@lilj362 yeah so do I tbh. I was more or less speaking in a hypothetical manner. But id much rather just see a platonic dynamic of a guy and his girlies since its not something you ever get to see in the media

I think there will be some reveal showing an alternate meaning to Hitch's cutie mark. Clearly, it resembles a badge and thats why Hitch is the sheriff but i would love there to be some twist that he was wrong about what his cutie mark meant and how he got it had a little to do with protecting people but also had to do with animals, which turns out to be what hes really meant to do
My little brothers LOVED Spike in Friendship is Magic, I hope that in this new series Hitch can be like that for them and other young boys who watched that show
Hitch really reminded me of Fluttershy, especially once the animals took to him. If he is a descendent, it is possible, but what if he is the descendent of The Pillar of Healing?? Cause they’re earth ponies in the Friendship is Magic series. Especially since the Element of Kindness comes from the Pillar of Healing.
Hitch has a great goofus and gallant dynamic going on with Sprout. I hope for some more with that.
I'd for one would love to see how he handles a Manticore or a Dragon. Would he try to fight them off first or use a gentle approach? Since he is both a tough sheriff and kind to animals both possibilities are equally plausible. I'd also like to see if he has his own version of "the Stare". Fluttershy's eyes were intimidating, but maybe Hitch will try to put on an attractive face (like in his calendar) and win them over. That would be hilarious
Hitch: Don't worry, I got this.
* Turns around dramatically *
* Gets dramatically prepared *
**Attractive face**
Flynn Rider/Eugene vibes
Sprout had some funny stuff too.
Dr Wolf will prob get to him in a later video Sprout is great and i wanna see him again
Speaking of Sprout, i think it'll be a safe bet that he'll no longer be involved in law enforcement in Maretime Bay, heck Sprout will probably be working at the Canter Logic factory and i wouldn't be surprised if they do an episode where Hitch tries to find a new deputy.
@@TheCommenterDragon Considering Hitch was allowing Sunny and Sprout to get away with so much just because they were childhood friends, and then later it got the point where Sunny was a criminal and Sprout became mad with power all under Hitch's watch and decisions, Hitch is not totally blameless.

maybe he gets separated from the group in an episode and he has to get over his annoyance of animals and ask them for help because he is hurt to get help and he learns just how deep his connection to animals goes.
One thing I saw in one of the MLP G5 clips, (I haven't watched the movie yet) is how he detected Izzy's hair and Zipp's feathers, that really shows for good detective work. I really hope that there will be so mystery based episodes in the upcoming series. And by the way, I can't help but wonder why there hasn't been a single mentioning or sight of Hitch's parents. You think maybe you could think about that Doc?
We now know there will be a special next spring, and the series (starting next fall) will have at least 2 seasons.
Maybe he and Zipp could have a "buddy cop" episode where they solve a crime together. Zipp using her scientific smarts and athleticism, while Hitch uses his cop training and army of critters against the perpetrator.
On 2:13 the castle of the two sisters is very likely buried underground. After doing some research, it’s not unheard of for ancient cities to be buried underground. The recently discovered lost city of Luxor is a good example of this.
I like to think that all of the characters are dependents of the main 6, or even some of the characters we love from the original series.
Edit: original series meaning G4/Equestria.
Maybe I read to much in it, but in the scene when he was undercover, he saw the pegasi-princess Pipp for the first time. And he seemed to be very impressed about her fake-fly-presentation. Maybe this was a start of a romantic subplot.
I feel Hitch is gonna be like Fluttershy but as a Sheriff hes going to be very Intresting in the TV series i like how him and Sunny are childhood friends i want to see him and the other mane 5 interact more hang out and just do stuff i also would like to see Pipp and Hitch together that would be cool i feel Hitch and Fluttershy are pretty Different yeah they both have Animals follow them but they both feel Different To be there own characters i really like Hitch and have High Hopes for his Futrue im sure Hitch is going to be very intresting and amazing in My Little Pony Gen 5
Hitch is a character with a lot of potential and I hope he is not overshadowed by girls, I say that happens when you are in a toy brand for GIRLS but I think that because of being masculine you can be iconic even if their toys don't sell much because that's nothing new. And I agree with Fluttershy, it has a similarity but it is not a copy paste, it has its charm.
About him and Pipp... well, lately... I have seen that many ship it even though it has not had great interactions but it would be interesting, that would already be the company's decision... I honestly liked it and they can handle a good relationship since according to the biographies they both love music and maybe within the series they may have things in common either friendly or romantically. So it only remains to really see what will happen to this boy and the suffering that he will take when dealing with so many girls...
I mean, I imagine that if the girls will come to fight or get into a conflict, this will be in the middle of the problem and probably he would become small so as not to get into girlish things or that he can give his opinion and they shut him up abruptly. I mean there are many things to think about.
But yes, I agree.
Hitch also has potential to have great synergy with both pegasi sisters as his love for music and also being sport-ish action guy, I hope his animal attraction aura (not sure how better to call it) is planned for future into show as it had not any significant impact on events in movie, what I am really glad about Hitch, in movie he havent ended as I was afraid he could be used, he wasnt just comical character to laught at but valid member of main group
Okay so I'm really tired and when you had Hitch in the frames at 0:46 and 3:09 I saw him as some blob monster because of the wood grain in the background and now I can't unsee that 😂
Hitch and Izzy are a dynamic duo 😭 I just know they’ll have running jokes between them
I can see an episode where hitch has to solve a crime In maretime bay (theft possibly) and izzy offers to help, the two get into wacky hijinx, where izzy finds some clues by accident because of her ditziness and hitch over analyzing the leads and comes up with weird conspiracies
If Twilight and Flurry are gone, then it has at the very least been over 1.000 years. Not to mention the time we need to add in, order for the ponies to have forgotten about that era, so that is at least 500 years. That is a minimum. Love Hitch, I think he was the best character. He was also the one who moved the most in terms of character development. Still like the others, just feel Hitch was the most interesting. :3
I feel like hitch wouldn’t get along with the other species, due to mistrust planted in him; I think that would make for a good character arc though, him slowly learning how each one of them can connect with him. I feel the same way with Pipp as she shows mistrust as well
Of the main characters hitches the only one I can't seem to get a good read on. He's generally nice kind loyal just sorry just sort of a good guy. Sides being absolutely 110% done with Sunny crap at some points. There's not much we've learned about his character like the depths that I can go I'll have to wait until the series to be able to get a better read on what kind of character he is. And I'm not saying that it's a bad thing that I can't get a good read on him it's just interesting. The only thing I could think of is that maybe hes secure in himself as a stallion but has Insecurities and other things. If that's the case he might be a character that I connected with a lot. I'm a guy but I've watched several kit shows and even girl centered kitchens like powerpuff girls and what not. So frankly who knows I might end up liking hitch more than some of the other characters just because he connects with me more. But I'll have to wait for the series to see.
I think maybe they added it for nostalgic reasons as well as to link the generations together
First male PONY main character so for all of us who were thinking that can't be accurate because in Generation 1 Spike was in a sense one of the main characters and even in generation 4 Spike had at least one non-premier / finale focus episode each season problem with that is in both above named generations Spike was a dragon being taken care of by a pony named Twilight, Twilight velvet in gen 1 and Twilight Sparkle in Gen 4 and honestly this is just my personal theory but I think that Twilight sparkles mother in Gen 4 might actually be the exact same Pony that took care of Spike the dragon in Generation 1 but I would not be surprised if I was wrong...again
Well Spikes not a pony and he’s sorta not really included always with the mane six.
I'm really excited to see more of Hitch.
I have wondered how he and others would react to a pony having a ancestor of a different pony race in their family and to learn ponies of different races did marry back in Twilights time if he was related to fluttershy
I must say that after TH-cam recommending me extremely many ship videos of pipp and hitch I kinda hope to see more for pitch petalblazer (I love this shipname still xD)
wondered that myself. I often wondered if he would feel out of place being the only dude as a main character in mlp
I really loved Hitch from the promo’s cuz I was so happy for male pony rep in the main cast. But I saw he was a bit arrogant and I went “OH NO they’re gonna make him a narcissist idiot to make the girls look better!” Or make him a sidelined loud quip man who always has to be rescued like Eugene in TTS. But hoooo boy was I wrong!
Hitch was not only competent, but understanding, he’s a got an ego, but he’s really kind, he’s a bit of a pessimist, but it’s never annoying and actually really welcome with both Sunny and Izzy being literal rays of sunshine.
He isn’t put down, or made pathetic to make the girls seem so much better (Chat Noir). He actually just treated like a normal member of the group and it makes me really excited for this new season of ponies!
Honestly. The whole opening with children Hitch, Sunny and Sprout completely sold me on Hitch. He was willing to try and accommodate both Sunny and Sprouts way of playing. Not only that but he was still polite to both the rather shunned Argyle and the loved Mrs. Cloverleaf. He only really got better over the course of the movie too.
True! He has this positively open mindset that he, aside Sunny, is the only character that's not affected by the propaganda of fear. He literally enjoys "dancing with danger", as he would say it! x3
Hitch x Sunny. Friends forever or future ssp's?
Although some would disagree and say Hitch x Izzy or Hitch x Pipp. Which also work depending on the point of view. I myself cant choose. I am waiting for the series to come out. Tbh, I don't care what the future story holds honestly it's going to be amazing no matter what.
Hitch would probably butt heads with both SUnny and Zipp since those two are most likely to break laws to further goals. With how much Hitch cares about his badge. I think Hitch has a sign of respect to those with titles. Zipp did comment on him being a detective, Maybe that's his dream moving on. To become a detective with animal sidekicks.
I feel like Hitch being really connected to animals is like a call back to Earth Ponies and what they were meant to do, long ago. Everybody seems to say being an earth pony wouldn't be fun in a place full of magic, where they weren't included or gifted with any magical abilities. But having the natural affinity of nature and a strong connection to the planet and land was what land ponies did, and it was big enough of an ability to make all the races equal. So, it feels like a call back to this. And perhaps leads to more questions about Fluttershy's heritage as much as it does Hitch's.
If that was the tree of Harmony then not just the tree but the landscape itself has vastly changed over the years. Which depending how this series does going forward could soften the blow of "everything the mane six worked towards falling apart" a bit.
I am just glad that in the movie they didn't ship him with any of the girls, I was afraid he would be a Spike with Rarity, but with like Pip, when he started dancing with Pip's song and agreeing with her I was scared but it didn't happen, I also hope he stays just friends with Sunny and doesn't has a crush on her, what would be the point in a male main character when he's just a female main fanboy
Love story with Sunny lol XD But in all reality I agree with some of the comments you've made and some I've been reading that Hitch makes a good balance for Sunny and vise versa
Sunny and Hitch do balance eachother out! I agree with ya!
I feel like it's been more than a thousand years
because I'm so weird I see sprout reforming in the upcoming series and turning the mane 5 into a mane 6 I see him as the element of acceptance were he forgives ponies and lets them have a second chance like sunny, hitch, zipp, izzy, and pipp did for him. He wont make a change overnight tough I see his reformation dealing with stuff like being less cowardly I see him at the beginning episodes of his reformation arc having him teach the lesson without even knowing it.
I'd like to see some of those animals one day go against hitch in the series. I feel as though that would be intresting
I think Maretime Bay, Zephyr Heights & Bridlewood should open their borders now that magic & friendship are back.
