    Thanks for your information. If you cut the fish into small pieces or grind it, would that not be more effective?
    Thank you

    You got a very interesting method. Thank you very much for sharing. I got tow questions: 1. Can I use dark brown sugar made from sugar canes? 2. Will this sugar-rich fertilizer invite ants and bugs? Thank you.

    1) What is advantage of this method over dry fish powder over used as a fertlizer as both can go. deep into the soil.
    2)Also will this method improve sweetness of fruit as well.
    Thanks for detail info.🙏

    Does it have to be palm sugar or can you use cane sugar?

    Since it is sweet, will it cause ants to gravitate to the plants?

    • @rootstosprouts6278

      I am using it for years and didn't encountered any ant issues because of using this fertilizer. If you see ants, please check for other insects like aphids, scale etc.

    Can the palm sugar be replaced with brown sugar?

    • @TheWickerShireProject

      Should work fine. All natural sugars are just crystallized sunlight in theory made by plants.

    can white sugar be used?

    • @rootstosprouts6278
      @rootstosprouts6278  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please don't use white sugar since it is chemically bleached. Raw(unrefined) sugar like muscovado is best which contain strong molasses content. Other than that any glucose source like honey, maple syrup etc may also work. But I didnt used it personally. Please share your feedback and suggestions if you are planning to use any in future.
      Glucose feeds and gives microbes energy and makes fermentation process quicker.
      Thanks

    Other methods I've seen use water, and the fish parts will completely dissolve.

    Can you add beneficial microbes?

    • @rootstosprouts6278

      Home made fish fertilizers are an all-natural way to supply an abundance of minerals and vitamins to your plants, no need for any added microbes .

    Can molasses be used for this process?

  • @philippayne8901
    @philippayne8901 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried this and it doesn't work, the fish doesn't breakdown the sugar preserves it. The bacteria cannot grow to breakdown the fish as the sugar content is too high. That's not surprising as that is how jam is made. Hugh sugar content preserves the fruit.

    How long is the shelf life?

    • @rootstosprouts6278
      @rootstosprouts6278  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It stays good for years until handle with care. Always use dry spoons while taking the fertilizer out. We use to make it in small batches so it last only for that season. Even if you make in bulk, it stay well for years once it get fully fermented as shown in the video. Hope this helps. Thanks

      White sugar is chemically bleached. Avoid this and use dark brown natural sugar types.
