I’m glad you get the chance to review this stuff. I was going back and forth between the X1, LP4, and an actual fiber laser. The F1 was my first choice based on the other reviews I’ve watched and its overall flexibility. Just needed to know how well it works for knife makers. Thanks Denis!
Great video man, this one definitely has a lot more features but the Bluetooth is probably a deal breaker for me. Don’t have a laptop I can have in the shop. Appreciate the info as always!
I wouldn’t advise putting any laser in your shop unless you have a clean room and separate room for grinding. I keep mine in the office. Thanks for watching.
Well, I bit the bullet and bought one Denis! Thanks for the review. Now that you have been using it for a while what settings do you use for doing your maker's mark in high carbon steel? Has anything changed since this video? All Max settings and 4 passes?
As with all the technology I've watched, home lasers are getting better and better. In a few years you'll be able to buy one that will cut out your blanks for you and then take Mollie for a walk!
Im getting ready to get a Lazer but the last lazer you reviewed looked alot simpler to use. I need something very simple and I don't have Internet at my shop. Thanks for the video
I would strongly recommend this one over the LaserPecker. The software for this one doesn’t require internet if you have a computer to hook to it and it’s faster with better options. This one is also cheaper. If you are thinking about attachments, they are much more versatile with the xTool F1. Either will certainly do the job though. Thanks for watching, Richard.
@@TyrellKnifeworks I was about to go to the abs school next month but it's $1600 and I'll have to miss 2weeks of work. All together it will cost me about $6000. I'm going to take that money and get tools instead
It’s not quite like that. It’s not dithering the pixels but blocking them out. If you did something like 20 dpi you get a pixelated image. Not the dot-matrix effect. Thanks for watching.
Got a LP3 after watching your review, worked for almost 10 knives... less than 30 days and it quit. Customer service is non-existent. Finally after several weeks they are sending another head.... would not buy again.
I haven't used my LP3 to that extent. I do prefer the xTool f1 though. Sorry about your troubles. I have heard others are having success with the LP3 with no problems at least. Hopefully yours is an isolated instance. Thanks for watching.
They are very comparable. Nothing wrong with the LP4, it has the same stats as this one. The XTool does have better accessories though. Thanks for watching.
@@TyrellKnifeworks That's not quite right. As long as you have the laser room completely closed, this is correct. However, if you use the Slide extension or the Rotary and your protective cover is open as a result, safety goggles are ALWAYS required!

Stay away from Laser Pecker. No customer service!!!
Looks like an amazing tool Dennis! Nice flex once again! Thanks for sharing!
It's a really versatile laser that is a great fit for knife makers. Thanks for watching, Stephen
Excellent review. X Tool is a very versatile product.
It’s a really good laser, I use it on every build now. 👍
Just shared this video to the wife. You explain stuff much better. 😂
I was going to get the lp3 but now xtool it is thanks for the review
I think you'll definitely be happier with the xTool F1, I am. Thanks for watching!

Still love this machine! I still use max settings at about 500 dpi with 4 passes for my makers mark. You won’t regret it!
@@TyrellKnifeworks Thank you! Can't wait to try it out.
@@TyrellKnifeworks Denis, what dot duration do you use for the makers mark?
@@MBishopsBladesI don’t remember the number but it’s set at the max. I use the max settings for the first two then at 720dpi and 5 passes.
@@TyrellKnifeworks Thank you so much! I have been doing some testing and it is very promising!

That's so true! We'll be doing our own laser cutting soon. That will be great! Thanks for watching, Bryson.
Is the performance on hardened steel substantially different than the (unhardened) 80CRV2?
Performance is the same. I’ve actually seen no difference on hardened steel. I use this laser for all my makers marks now.
Like your take on f1 .
It’s a great machine! I’ve sold my LP now and I’m staying with the F1. Thanks for watching.
@TyrellKnifeworks- When you did 4 passes on the steel as a knife mark, were you in IR mode?
Yes, you definitely want IR mode when you're engraving steel. The blue laser is only for leather/wood, etc. Thanks for watching, Ron.
Can you do a video on blackening your hardware. The hot salt dip?
I've done that video before... it's here: th-cam.com/video/_v--rblTu1w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4I1bxp6KRfVJqxB-. Thanks for watching.
wish i could afford one of those XTOOL F1. Thats my dream. its a very unique machine.
It really is a great machine. Thanks for taking a look.
Get to your local maker space. Start there until you can afford the tools you need for your craft

DPI: assuming dots per inch? The very low settings, say... 1-200, these would be for artists, shading, like a dot matrix realistic picture.

Hello! I want to engrave silver jewelry but I don't want the engraving to be too dark. Can you put a clear engraving? fine? thank you so much
You can probably engrave it with the laser and then buff it and it will take out the darkness. Thanks for watching.
Great tutorial thank you
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching, Greg!

hi
Thanks for watching.
I'm using the exact same adapter with my mac and have no issue at all using usb A to C

Alot of money for somthing like that.
$1450 for a laser that marks steel is a very good price. Thanks for watching.
