Guys, this was a very entertaining episode, but if you’ve seen my undying and relentless opinions on Instagram, you know.... you couldn’t pay me $40 to drink eagle rare. 😳 *gasp* .... of those three I would take makers 46. But also... I’d probably take WT 101 over all three. That’s why Whiskey is fun. But most importantly, nice video.
I’d like to see you guys do this test but with your favorite bourbons. No price limit. No regulations. You guys just bring in your favorites and have a blind tasting.
You guys really grow on a person. How many videos have you put out? The chemistry you guys have is remarkable and it’s nice to see everyone join in and give way when appropriate. Kudos to all. Still trying to develop my palate. The other day the first thing that popped into my mind when I sipped a bourbon was “floral”. Floral? Where’d that come from? You guys are rubbing off. Agree Maker’s 46 and Woodford are very smooth. Cheers to all.
Inspired by your episode, did some blind tasting with your three picks with a bunch of people during our Easter party. 5 men, 3 women. Everyone found it very difficult to tell the difference and no one picked their favorites. Fun to try! Thanks for video.
Guys, Great show and hope you can do more in the future, say every couple of months or so at other price points. These blind tastings are the BEST way to judge. UFR!!! What a selection process with good comments all the way around. Congrats to The Dutchman!! Keep them coming even though this seems to be dangerous to The Butcher!!!
Keep up the great shows! I’m a new bourbon fan, and your reviews and blind tastings really provide not only expert insight and opinion, but great entertainment. Without a doubt, the Guild has become my fav TH-cam channel.
Great review guys. I just happen to have the 3 culprits at hand so tried the blind taste. I found little difference in the three apart from the nose on the Woodfords being the strongest. The winner in the end was Makers. This is a great way to taste different Bourbons, keep up the good work.
A bunch of folks at our Easter party tried this as well. We were blown away how difficult it was to tell the difference. Most picked Makers as well. Cheers.
I know right? Haven't seen it in two f#@king years here in Central Ohio! Took a trip to CA earlier this week and there it is, sitting on the shelf at $29.99 at Total Wine. I would have bought more than one but my budget is tight these days, at least until the kids finish college so I can work full time again and we have 2 incomes...
You guys, I could not have asked for a better Friday night episode. I even got my wife to watch the whole thing with me. I look forward every week and this week you really outdid yourselves. I know I harp on blind tastings but as this one shows, unless you are Dutch, you may not pick your "favorite". Jules, no bringing the "balance" this week? Just kidding. All three are fine bourbons for the price. It was priceless to see Jules, Dillon and Ben so confidently pick another bourbon than the one they thought. Someone needs to keep an eye on Dutch. How did he do that? Congrats on another great episode! What's next? Best bourbon under $80? under $100?
Eagle rare is in my top 3 daily drinkers. #1 Eagle rare. #2 Woodford Reserve. #3 Jefferson’s small batch. ER has a Nice flavor, it’s a ridiculously easy drinker, and has an absolutely amazing finish. A 10 year bourbon for under $40. Can’t beat it!! Thanks for proving my point to all my bourbon drinking friends 😂
You guys dont know how good you have it (to be able to purchase at a grocery store/drug store). From DC/MD/VA... cant even comprehend how amazingly convenient that must be
I could watch you guys for hours. Great chemistry in group and in glass. Relatively new to straight bourbons, so picking up a solid education too. Cheers from Manchester UK.🥃
My guess was blue = ER 10yr too based on Dillon's description and glad to see that it came out on top. It's a great bourbon for sure for the price point. It is even better (more interesting) than the 17 year believe it or not. The ultimate though for me is the BT Sazerac 17 year any vintage year really. Before I leave this earth, I shall have it again! Tough to find at anything less than $900 but would be worth it for a very special occasion. It's THAT good!! Any of the other two bourbons (M46 and WR) are great choices too. Nothing wrong with these either but ER would be my go to. WR Rye is up there also along with Elijah Craig at this price point
Great Concept! Blind tastings are big fun, but there are a lot of factors that come into play not to mention personal taste preferences. Sometime soon, I would like to line up a round of at least 3 tasting done on different days to see if an individual's favorite holds up across all 3 tastings. I think its great that you have 4 tasters on the panel and its appears there is enough differences in the palates that the panel represents a broad spectrum of personal preferences. Have you compiled a composite of all your individual scores on reviews that would allow me to align with one of your palates so I could "team up" ?
Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve Store Pick is at my local Kroger in Louisville, KY for 39.99 and it's the real MVP of the bourbon world at that price.
Good video. . I've had Eagle Rare and Woodford, but not Makers' 46. My favorite bourbons are Jim Beam Black, OGD 114, Knob Creek, and Elijah Craig. OGD at cask strength is terrific.
Fun video to watch. You guys have great chemistry together. WR is my go to bourbon but I will pick up a bottle of ER based on your results. I've never had it before but I'm looking forward to trying it. Cheers fellas!
I did this challenge, I would have guessed (for my liking) 1 Woodford, 2 M46 and 3 ER. But when I sampled blind, M46 won in all aspects, ER next and Woodford was dead last! Maybe the Woodford was a bad batch?!?!? I would've brought Buffalo Trace to the table, which still lost to M46 during my tasting! Keep these challenges coming, would like to see my favorite Michters in the under $50.
I did a 4 sample taste test at a local bourbon restaurant between Blantons, Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, and Weller and definitely had Eagle Rare 3rd. My picks were neck and neck Blantons and Weller (Blantons won) then Eagle Rare, then Buffalo Trace.
Blind tastings make for some of your best shows, would like to see more maybe in different price categories. Maybe even have the ER thrown back in to compete against the 40-60, 60-100 picks.
Nice video again guys! I couldnt pick a winner out of these 3.....cause i think theyre all great! But Eagle Rare is hard to find in eastern PA, and when i did see it........it was well over 40 bucks! Cheers!
The order that you drink these in matters so much. If you are using only water as a palate cleanser then you might be surprised at the difference it can really make. These types of videos got me interested in trying multiple bourbons in a single sitting. After one of my flights I decided to then reversing the order the next day. I'm glad I did because I thought I had bought the worst bottle of bourbon in Wild Turkey Rare Breed. It tasted unlike anything I can describe, but it was consistently bad following my tasting of Larceny Barrel Proof. I even did a second pour to make sure I wasn't wrong. The next day, in the reverse order the Rare Breed was pleasant! I was so relieved that I wasn't going to have to relegate the bottle to cocktails only.
Great show, first time catching you guys, very well done. I’ve always like Henry McKenna BIB as my go to under $40 but I’ve really enjoyed Makers 46 too. Will need to try Eagle Rare now!
IIRC Buffalo Trace makes Eagle Rare. You'll probably like it. :) I like it and Elijah Craig, but I have yet to try Buffalo Trace. Of those in the blind challenge, I need to try Maker's 46. My list of stuff to try just keeps growing. ;)
I like OGD 114 better than all of those and it’s under $25. But yeah, blind tastings are the best videos....I would have liked to see you guys take it further and not know until the end what everyone else brought.
Eagle Rare has been my favorite for 25+yrs. Not only is it smooth but to me it doesn't seem to be as thick as some other brands. If you have never tried it one taste and you will see
Here’s a question, what do you guys do with the bottles after the review? Do you each take one home or is there a guild bar? Is there a general fund you all kick into and then buy the more expensive ones?
Excellent Episode. I have all three of these in my bar and I like them all. Before blind tasting them I would have ranked them Eagle Rare, Woodford, and Makers 46 in that order. When I blind tasted them I could not tell the difference. I tried for over an hour. It's damn hard to do. Thanks for putting your egos on the line!
I am not a fan of Eagle Rare. It's everywhere here in SE Wisconsin. Woodford is pretty good though. Now I have to pick up that M46. My favorite under $30 is currently Knob Creek small batch 100 proof with Wild Turkey 101 right behind it.
I guessed yellow was M46 since the way you guys all described yellow it seemed obvious it was a wheater. I couldn't guess the other two since I haven't tried ER yet. In any case nice job guys.
Very entertaining. You guys are a good bunch. Seem to really have fun. One question: Is the MM 46 the only Wheater in the bunch? I would think that would really separate it from the other two. If so, how does 46 compare to Larceny (another popular wheater) in your opinion? Thanks

Thanks!!! We know Dillon was surprised because he feels the same way about it. Blind tastings are ego killers. Thanks again for the kind words!
WT101, most complex and consistently rewarding budget bourbon, rivaling most others twice its price.
🦅
Kevin James I’d rather sit through “Mall Cop” than drink eagle rare. #kevinjames #dohashtagsworkonyoutube #😂

You guys are easily a top 5 whiskey channel. Thank you for the honest and interesting content🙏 This and WRBF vs GTS are two of your best
I am gonna give 46 another chance, I already have the other 2. Keep up the good episodes. Definitely one one of my favorite channels on TH-cam.
Thanks!
I just discovered your channel a couple weeks ago and every video I've seen has been very entertaining.
Inspired by your episode, did some blind tasting with your three picks with a bunch of people during our Easter party. 5 men, 3 women. Everyone found it very difficult to tell the difference and no one picked their favorites. Fun to try! Thanks for video.

One of you best videos yet. Keep doing the blind tests! And yes, I loved it when Dillon picked Eagle Rare!
One of your best episodes
Great review guys. I just happen to have the 3 culprits at hand so tried the blind taste. I found little difference in the three apart from the nose on the Woodfords being the strongest. The winner in the end was Makers. This is a great way to taste different Bourbons, keep up the good work.

Omg I don't know how I got here but I'm so glad I did!! I've had all 3 and they are all delicious. 4r is great too. Nice job!!
I love all things bourbon and visited Kentucky and did the bourbon trail....loved this video!
I love watching your videos and keep up the great work. You guys have the best Bourbon review channel there is.
Thanks!
I really like Eagle Rare, but have a hard time finding it where I live.

Any word on why they quit?

Such a great episode. Gonna go get a couple more bottles of eagle rare. There everywhere in San Diego
Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve Store Pick is at my local Kroger in Louisville, KY for 39.99 and it's the real MVP of the bourbon world at that price.
Guff City Rollers try basil Hayden
I'll cosign this comment. For the price + proof + drinkability, Knob Creek single barrel is probably the best bourbon on the market.
Knob creek is my favorite as well. So glad I live in Kentucky where the best bourbon is cheap. You should check our old bardstown as well
This is the bourbon I drink when I don't have my Booker's. Fantastic stuff.
Eagle Rare is a great choice. Also, you should do ranked choice (automatic run off) voting for these to get a more accurate ranking.
This was a very well done video! Keep it up and you guys should have no problem getting an audience.
First time watching you guys, and that was BRILLIANT! Great work, I have already subscribed!
Thanks!
Love these episodes. Keep it going and do a $60 and under video!
Entertainment scale gets a 10. Enjoyed it guy’s.👍🏻😉
this was great and super fun. It really goes to show how subjective the palette can be.
Where can I find that Bourbon NASA shirt? Great video btw, I'm going to have pick up some eagle rare now.
Miss you goofy guys. Great fun to watch. Cheers.

Too funny. I can almost never get Eagle in Austin, but I go to my office in San Francisco and find 6 bottles at a wine shop close by.
Great show! Laughed out loud at the results portion.

That is a shock, I would agree on your original picks. I guess I need to do a blind taste test.

Based on your descriptions I was able to guess which whiskey was which, so good job on that.
Great battle! Love the blind tasting! You fellas are always a blast to watch! Cheers!🥃👍
My favorite under 40 is Willett Potstill reserve then Johnny drum 3would be old bardstown. I love everything Willett does.

Great show guys!!! Rocked it!!!
best ep ever. the shellshock on the reveal was priceless
Good stuff guys. Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage blows all these away though...and I just paid $22.49 for a 750 in Wisconsin.
These are fun to watch guys. Good job 👍
New to drinking bourbon, first bottle happened to be Wellers. Was curious why no Weller?
Weller is made by Buffalo Trace, as is Eagle Rare. Damn fine bourbon, especially the Weller Antique.
You all should dive into some store picks I would be interested in what you all think. Cheers love the show.
Really like this episode, curious to try Eagle Rare. Lately I've been on a diet of Buffalo Trace and Elijah Craig.
IIRC Buffalo Trace makes Eagle Rare. You'll probably like it. :) I like it and Elijah Craig, but I have yet to try Buffalo Trace. Of those in the blind challenge, I need to try Maker's 46. My list of stuff to try just keeps growing. ;)
I'm so sad they aren't making new videos...this was awesome👍
Very entertaining show. Just found your channel recently. You guys remind of my bourbon drinking buddies.
Great video. Where is/was your location/background?? It looks like a shopping mall here in Oklahoma City.
i was excited to see makers 46 up there. thats my regular weekend whisky right there. Well whenever i drink whisky anyway , maybe every other weekend.
Great episode! Blind tastings are the best...even more so when you guys do it.👍
Great show. Really enjoyed the new opening
I like OGD 114 better than all of those and it’s under $25.

Eagle Rare is still mostly a single barrel so that might be why some of you think some bottles aren’t as good....just a thought.
Love the vid. My favorite is probably something completely different, but just as definitive.
Good stuff - More blind tastings.
First let me say what a great show idea! Secondly, Dillion rocks third east cost prices sux! Ya’ll getting great deals
I guessed yellow was M46 since the way you guys all described yellow it seemed obvious it was a wheater. I couldn't guess the other two since I haven't tried ER yet. In any case nice job guys.
Question to any and all: Is Eagle Rare the same juice in the Buffalo Trace bottle aged a few more years? Or is there more to it? Thanks!
All 3 are so distinct in taste, everyone should know what’s what.
Larceny is 18.99 plus tax at my local liquor store.
Getting it at that price is indeed larceny
Eagle Rare is very good. My favorite is Four Roses Single Barrel
Awesome video! What was that bit about Weller, if it should be included? Going to try ER now :)
I'm curious too. That's my favorite and is $25 at my local pkg store.
Very entertaining. You guys are a good bunch. Seem to really have fun. One question: Is the MM 46 the only Wheater in the bunch? I would think that would really separate it from the other two. If so, how does 46 compare to Larceny (another popular wheater) in your opinion? Thanks
Eagle Rare is a favorite of mine at any price point. It’s also one of the only 10yrs you can find at that price point.
I think this year is the best one for eagle rare.
Fantastic video guys!!!
Fantastic episode!
I enjoy both WR and M46. In my area M46 is less expensive so I go for that. I haven't tried ER and now I think I should.
Dillion on 🔥🔥🔥. Loved it!
Wow great review lol . I love Woodford , it's good and price is great
You can tell which is Eagle Rare in the glass. It also smells and taste so different than the other 2.
I'm just curious if you guys cleanse your pallette between tastings?
Cool video. Love the Serenity shirt.
I'm a new subscriber but you'll need to keep doing this videos, but continue choosing bottles you all haven't picked up yet with under 20's and 40's
