I have a feeling that Maya will become an assistant dance captain a couple of years from now. Since they focused a lot on her and how Mindy complemented her at the end. It's great to see a young black woman who looks like me killing it 👏🏿👏🏿
I'm in tears - that was such a special series, a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on with both the crew and the dancers to make this show possible. I had already seen the first two episodes of this series when I went to see the Rockettes this year, so I was cheering so loudly for Maya, knowing this was her first year. She was so so so so good. Maya - if you're reading this: You are AMAZING. I cried when I saw you greet your parents just now. And Mindy - you continue to be one of my fave dancers. This show really is spectacular!!!
As a former Rockette, I feel your excitement! Congratulations on being back! You have maintained the precision and perfection that has made being a Rockette so special! ❤️
OMG!! Maya is totally her mom's twin!! The Rockettes are so gorgeous and classy and so full of energy all in one sentence! They really light up the whole place when they come on the stage. The choreography is just so beautiful.
I remember watching the Christmas Spectacular every year growing up. I wanted to be a Rockette so badly. I studied dance at Alvin Ailey and the Dance Theater of Harlem and wanted to audition until I learned, I’m too short. I was heartbroken and stopped going to the show. But watching this brought a smile to my face as a black woman. I definitely enjoyed this series!!
How lovely that some of the production and theatre staff have been working there for decades, that’s really special! It seems like a real labor of love for everyone involved ❤
I was so excited to see this, such a shame the season had to end prematurely😭 My tickets were for December 29th's morning show. Please do the right thing and stay safe, everyone, this is so hard for all involved, as well as the fans who had yet to see them dance this year. See you next year, I miss being in that audience so much!
@@jamescurran6277 I am vaccinated. They canceled the rest of the season as of December 17th because of Covid issues in the production. I had tickets for the 29th of this month so the show is canceled.
Life must be lived. It must be lived when it's easy and it must be lived when it's hard. It must be lived when it's fun and when it's not. And it must lived when it continues and when it doesn't.
It ending prematurely was a scam. Such a shame what this plan-demic did to everyone and New York, of all places, took it over the top. Unbelievable. All that work by these women for nothing.
OMG the shot of them at 3:31 on the stage in the dark ready for the curtain to go up I literally got full body chills and could FEEL the nervousness & pure enjoy & insane excitement they must have been feeling in that moment. The buildup and the woman saying “welcome back to radio city music hall” mixed in with seeing all of the people coming into the theater to find their seats, and adding in Maya’s parents going up to their seat that you could just see how PROUD they were & when her dad was talking about how amazing it is that she can do what she truly loves to do in life…It did such an AMAZING job of truly capturing the entire energy and spirit of that moment & watching them waiting for the curtain to go up and feeling like you are right there with them is truly amazing. The producers & everyone else involved in making this video did such a fantastic job! I haven’t seen too many comments talking about this particular aspect of this video and I know this is a year old but as a New Yorker I still cried watching this. I remember the day I finally heard that the Rockettes were coming back to radio city and broadway was FINALLY re-opening again after Covid, and then the energy in NYC when it FINALLY happened. It’s impossible to truly describe what it was like living through Covid in NYC and what the entire city what through for so long. I cried like a baby when I heard the rockettes show was forced to close because of Covid. It was one of those things on top of so many others that really hit hard the reality of how scary and real Covid was because I couldn’t have ever imagined anything that would be serious enough to shut down the Christmas spectacular after so many years. I will never forget the excitement and sigh of relief so many felt when the show finally re opened & watching this video now I definitely felt it all over again. I can’t wait to see it again in December! Im so glad this video exists and am grateful to everyone who made it!
This is so heart warming. I love this. Thanks for sharing this with us. ❤ I can’t wait to go to NY for the this time and see The Rockettes. What a legacy!
I really liked this series and especially that the dance manager is compassionate and affirming, even when she doesn’t pick someone. I’ve watched videos of other companies that crossed over I to abuse and you can tell this company supports each other and the success says everything about that💚
This was beautiful. I saw the Rockettes in the 70s. Radio city music hall was amazing. They truly bring NYC to life in a special way during the Christmas season!
I loved this 4 episode piece-I no longer live in NY but I’ll never forget going to Radio City to see this show-and NY will always be in my heart-keep on dancing ladies, you are amazing!! 😍
I’m sad for the dancers. I arrived last night to see the show tonight staying the weekend had my tickets since Aug waited my entire life to see this spectacular show but the performers are truly the ones who are getting the short straw🥲 I’m grateful for this series.
I saw it this past Sunday and it was so exciting because I watched the first 3 episodes so I was looking for some of the behind the scenes stuff I heard about.
How do they dance during their periods? These dances are so hard and what if you feel sick. I know that behind this beautiful picture there is pain and hard work. I’m glad that they like what they do.
This seems to be the latest video so saying something here. I’m saddened greatly at the news of your Christmas Spectacular has been canceled AGAIN ☹️ So my prayers for ALL involved crew, and staff and sending you BLESSINGS OF LOVE and triumphantly returning 🔥 I’m kinda speechless and astounded with ‘events’ being controlled and I’m ready for a dancing in the streets version in honor of America and our ‘traditions’ 🔥🎄🌟 to be streamed of course! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa 🙏🏻❤️
I’m tearing up! I love seeing this show but this year I can’t. I’m not vaccinated plus me and my mom don’t feel safe going to NYC but I’m so excited to go next year!
Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the struggles and madness in this world today, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He will help us through the struggle, the stress, and anything we experience in the world. It's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves, we need Him to help us as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. Christ says in John 16:33: I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] - (AMPLIFIED version) NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. Regardless of what you've done or what you're going through you CAN make it through Jesus. X
Who gave you the right and the authority to determine whether a dancer is overweight? They all look amazing to me, and unless you know a thing or two about dancing (and being healthy as a dancer without starving yourself), I suggest you keep your mouth shut.
I have a feeling that Maya will become an assistant dance captain a couple of years from now. Since they focused a lot on her and how Mindy complemented her at the end. It's great to see a young black woman who looks like me killing it 👏🏿👏🏿

I feel the same kind of excitement when I enter the doors of Radio City Music Hall and When I see those amazing Rockettes. What a thrill!

I've been binge-watching all the Rockettes videos. These girls - WOW, what a fantastic experience. So much fun.

Tears of gratitude and joy…THANK YOU for sharing this incredible gift of behind the scenes ♥️
WoW! I can only imagine the feeling of being on stage with a phenomenal team of ladies expressing themselves in dance! Bravooooo!
Have always loved dancing but am lacking the youth and talent required…these videos let me live vicariously for a little while ❤️

I saw it this past Sunday and it was so exciting because I watched the first 3 episodes so I was looking for some of the behind the scenes stuff I heard about.
The usher, Monica, was on the second season of Big Brother. I recognized her right away! She was my favorite that season.
I recognized her right away as well just by her voice
Loooooove the raindeer Rockett who blessed herself at 3:10. AMEN, woman
Merry Christmas ☃️🎄
You go Rockettes!!!!!

Mindy is my favourite. I can see her being the director/choreographer, in the future
How do they dance during their periods? These dances are so hard and what if you feel sick. I know that behind this beautiful picture there is pain and hard work. I’m glad that they like what they do.
Might be on birth control to moderate their periods? That's what I use it for

Isn't Monica the usher from Big Brother? I've seen her on TV before!
Wow a lot of work goes into this production. Too bad they’re ending it early due to Covid. Everyone get vaccinated and have a wonderful and safe 2022.
This aged well😅
and now the Rockette season is ending early. 😪😷
