WOW!!!! I TOTALLY remember that episode when Scotty asked Laura to marry him, and like it or not many of us have to admit that we originally got sucked into GH because of the Laura & Scotty romance. There was actually a time we ALL routed for Scotty & Laura. But the chemistry between Luke & Laura was soooo insane, it simply could not be denied!!! Crazy how quickly we all changed our minds, and wanted Laura to be with Luke. Scotty really WAS a good guy, he really loved Laura, and losing her completely destroyed him. Yet, to this day I can't help it I wish Luke and Laura had stayed together to the very end. The writers really screwed the viewers over.

This was the episode I’ve been wanting to see since it 1st aired and I watched this and when Scotty proposed to Laura under the Christmas Tree and she cried tears of joy and told him about what she wished and prayed for... I was 9 years old. I’m a 50 year old woman now but can still feel the hope and joy I felt as she expressed her dreams. Thank you. Then and now it is still my very favorite General Hospital storyline and scene. I always wondered what kind of a life they would have had if left alone to live happily ever after.... I know....I know.... Very unlikely in Soap World. Like a 17 year old Laura I too still like to dream. Thanks for the Great memories. This show was a lifetime of great and cherished memories. 🤗❤️✨💖💕💍🌲⭐️🌟✨👍

Luke looked shy and tongue tied as he was trying to give Laura his letter, it looked sweet. If I were Laura I would have whispered thank you and wished him a merry Christmas and kissed his cheek.
@hibaby9379 I think her own feelings for Luke overwhelmed her when he read the letter so she ran away...whenever Luke tells her how he feels or shows his love for her it acts as a mirror to her own soul. She doesn't know what to do. Ultimately, she has never felt these intense feelings before and she's scared💞
Luke letting her go was unacceptable. She didn't want it despite always saying she did. She's two people at this point. But Luke has her. She's been injected. No pun.
My gosh! Talk about tugging at the heartstrings. Luke reading that letter to Laura with that music in the background. The way she looked at him and the way he looked at her. Wow. On the other hand, the music with Laura and Scott? So melodramatic that it's ridiculous.
Acting brilliance on display here, as always, but THIS: Luke's shy, awkward mannerisms, lack of eye contact, throat clearing, and halting read of his own letter. That look at the end after Laura just leaves without a word....his face says "well that fell flat". Wow I just want to hug him. Little boy-like demeanor here. So sweet. He can be so strong and determined, yet at moments like these so vulnerable. Love love love Luke/Tony.
Diz, I think that as well. Her loyalty switched to this very complex man, fraught with all the uncertainty of a new relationship, but tied to him so strongly that only being with him only would set her free. After hearing him read his note to her, I couldn't help but love him all the more! Tony's and Gloria's definition of an anti-hero was a man who did all the wrong things for all the right reasons.

Thank you so much for uploading this. My mom stopped watching GH by the time I was a kid, so I grew up on Y&R and B&B. However, she had spoken of Luke and Laura and how popular they were. I just started watching GH on my own some months ago and decided to look up some GH history. This is a very well-written and compelling story. I feel one way about a character and then have a totally different view of them in the next clip. In this clip, I thought Scotty and Laura were just too cute.
Yes they where for a while at least. Yes Scotty and Laura were to cute but with all that went down between the two of them IMHO Laura was just to young and immature Laura had a lot of grow up to do. Yes Laura was also very selfish and self centered she also lied at times well to be honest let’s face it a lot. Most of all to Scotty her parents and friends. But I think her lied a lot to herself. Yes it was sad and a pain at times. One thing Laura did have was much love and respect for all no matter who or what they may have done. Laura as always a true blue friend always. Laura alway was fair and had a great big loving forgiving heart always. Love Rosie.

sussezq man I loved the 2000-2012 years it got really bad after but I love all the older years I can find on here and watch. I wasn’t even born yet when this aired lol I didn’t start watching till 2000 when I was in middle school, I love watching all the iconic moments they mention in passing. It’s cool too hear them talking about the original Floating Rib ( not sure if Jakes was originally the Floating Rib and then renamed that by Luke after the accident with little Jake or if he did that in honor of the old establishment) the talk about Beechers Corners in these videos and that’s been in current episodes. I wish they’d revamp the old disco into something new on current episodes. Even watching these makes it hard to believe Laura ever just left Nikolas behind with the Cassindines!
Jennifer Bowerize It was Great to be able to watch General Hospital on Christmas day. It was my second favorite thing of the day, open presents and then I impatiently waited until 3 PM. 💞
TBH I was a huge Scotty and Laura fan. Even after Luke appeared on the scene, I still wanted Scotty and Laura to work out their problems. I didn't really become a fan of the LnL love story until they had to go on the run and the scenes from that night at Wyndhams. The chemistry could not be denied. However, 28 years or so later when he chose to stay with Tracy instead of going with Laura to Paris for treatment the LnL love story was over for me. Afterall it was Scotty who went to Paris to be with Laura, they should have let them stay together then and be happy.
They made Scott like that so people would get over Laura and Scott and move on to Laura and Luke. I found Scotty B interesting.. I can't stand what they did to Jason Q. (and this is not the place to discuss why).
LOL! Yeau, so carefully plotted. At least it was more subtle and interesting than future stories. And the earlier laura&Scotty flashbacks reminds us how immature Laura was and how she romanticized everything.
Wow they are playing Tchaikovsky Symphony no…..6, I believe in the background of that Christmas Eve scene. Beautiful piece of music, not Xmas-related but this is the second time I’ve heard it used in a Xmas-themed tv production!
She lost both her parents, he was her closest bond...She had Ruby but he was literally the only immediate family she had. She was so young when her mom died and dad left that Luke became her defacto parent. That is why she reacts the way she does. It's not a spousal thing. He helped raise her. She feels threatened by Laura because Laura comes first to both of the most important men in her life!! I don't like the way she treats Laura but I understand her emotional dilemma.
I just noticed after watching these over and over that the song playing while Luke read his letter is the same song that played at Christmas time in1981 playlist when they shared the apartment building. :)

While you brought up music: the Christmas Waltz playing in the LnL scene is so sweet and beautiful. The genuine feelings Luke pours out matches the feeling I'm getting from that song. Tugs at your heartstrings. Then the Laura and Scotty scene has that melodramatic song playing and it's just ringing false to me. It's over the top schmaltz with these two. They seem to be lost in some romantic fantasy of each other that has no real substance. As if they are in love with love.
This makes me feel kind of bad for Scotty...They've really painted him as a villian in recent years, but it wasn't all bad... I mean, he's no Luke, but that doesn't make him evil.
After all the last 20 years of BS with Luke, Laura and Scotty deserve another chance at this thing called love. Luke is dead now, c'mon Scotty tell Laura what is still in your heart. Kevin is way too boring with Laura, he needs to be with Lucy.

sussezq man I loved the 2000-2012 years it got really bad after but I love all the older years I can find on here and watch. I wasn’t even born yet when this aired lol I didn’t start watching till 2000 when I was in middle school, I love watching all the iconic moments they mention in passing. It’s cool too hear them talking about the original Floating Rib ( not sure if Jakes was originally the Floating Rib and then renamed that by Luke after the accident with little Jake or if he did that in honor of the old establishment) the talk about Beechers Corners in these videos and that’s been in current episodes. I wish they’d revamp the old disco into something new on current episodes. Even watching these makes it hard to believe Laura ever just left Nikolas behind with the Cassindines!

TBH I was a huge Scotty and Laura fan. Even after Luke appeared on the scene, I still wanted Scotty and Laura to work out their problems. I didn't really become a fan of the LnL love story until they had to go on the run and the scenes from that night at Wyndhams. The chemistry could not be denied. However, 28 years or so later when he chose to stay with Tracy instead of going with Laura to Paris for treatment the LnL love story was over for me. Afterall it was Scotty who went to Paris to be with Laura, they should have let them stay together then and be happy.
They made Scott like that so people would get over Laura and Scott and move on to Laura and Luke. I found Scotty B interesting.. I can't stand what they did to Jason Q. (and this is not the place to discuss why).
LOL! Yeau, so carefully plotted. At least it was more subtle and interesting than future stories. And the earlier laura&Scotty flashbacks reminds us how immature Laura was and how she romanticized everything.

Wow they are playing Tchaikovsky Symphony no…..6, I believe in the background of that Christmas Eve scene. Beautiful piece of music, not Xmas-related but this is the second time I’ve heard it used in a Xmas-themed tv production!

Bobbie was always jealous of Laura loving Luke. It's kind of ickky.
She lost both her parents, he was her closest bond...She had Ruby but he was literally the only immediate family she had. She was so young when her mom died and dad left that Luke became her defacto parent. That is why she reacts the way she does. It's not a spousal thing. He helped raise her. She feels threatened by Laura because Laura comes first to both of the most important men in her life!! I don't like the way she treats Laura but I understand her emotional dilemma.
I just noticed after watching these over and over that the song playing while Luke read his letter is the same song that played at Christmas time in1981 playlist when they shared the apartment building. :)

While you brought up music: the Christmas Waltz playing in the LnL scene is so sweet and beautiful. The genuine feelings Luke pours out matches the feeling I'm getting from that song. Tugs at your heartstrings. Then the Laura and Scotty scene has that melodramatic song playing and it's just ringing false to me. It's over the top schmaltz with these two. They seem to be lost in some romantic fantasy of each other that has no real substance. As if they are in love with love.
I think she was just kidding herself.
Seeing young Scotty reminds me what a great job of casting Logan was. Too bad he was killed off because there was a lot of potential there.
Scotty still here and better than ever , NEVER liked him with Laura but I love him with Dr. Olbrecht
