  • Welcome to my journey into the wonderful world of bushcraft and survival! Let’s explore the wild together!
I was greeted with rain on the first day upon arrival at the forest. It soon subsided, but the next day brought some wind. On day one, I had just a few hours of daylight left, so I only built a wooden frame and covered it with a plastic tarp. The next day, I built a small wooden wall to protect the campfire from the wind. That actually took longer than I had expected and I was again running out of daylight time, so I built another low wall using just the stones from the nearby dried-up riverbed. Luckily, I still had enough time to improve the shelter, also covering it with spruce branches. On the last day, I enjoyed the surroundings and made sure I had some firewood already prepared for my return in the future.
On all three days, I prepared simple meals over the campfire. I am a vegetarian, so the meals this time consisted of mashed eggs with tomatoes, potatoes (baked in the hot campfire ashes), sauerkraut, and porridge for breakfast. I brought some dried cowslip flowers, black currant and peppermint leaves that I used for tea.
I am still learning about my skills, this particular forest, and my surroundings. Each forest is different. But I am so excited about this new beginning!

I highly dont recommend a pitched roof except for some locations where you have shelter from the weather anyway. Otherwise the wind turns and if it rains you can spare the shower next morning. Anything but this.

I am no expert, nor do I claim to be one, or tell others what they should or shouldn't do. This shelter worked alright for me in this particular instance, and that's what I wanted to show. It still stays where I built it, and the inside is still intact and dry. But yes, it might not be ideal in other, more open locations.

Я дуже люблю дивитись такі відео,но мені дуже не сподобалось що ви рубали живу деревину.дуде поспішно працюєте,але не дуже якісно.Вибачте але це моя думка.

Hey, thanks for the question! At the time, the temperature was around 10-12 degrees Celsius. Definitely some of the warmest nights in any outdoor shelter I have been so far.
