For the people wondering why we're getting a Triple KO episode today instead of Tuesday, it's because the episode was originally planned for this past Tuesday, but was delayed due to needing more editing time. Now it is here for your enjoyment!
When the tekken 3 music came on and Jin did that thing where he adjusts his glove, i actually yelled at the TV in excitement. Tekken 3 was literally the first video game i ever played, can still remember my dad playing it with me on the PS1 like it was yesterday, this franchise will ALWAYS have a place in my heart
I don't blame max at all, world tour was empty, boring, and stinky. Maybe that's unfair, but I thought world tour would be more focused around teaching newbies how to play street fighter. It doesn't do that, the closest thing is hado pizza
@@comicking428 yeah, too bad he isn’t a streamer and he doesn’t make his own schedule… Oh wait… And world tour is absolutely not a tutorial mode, unless you want to learn how to fight against 20cm tall robots, fridges, and enemies with super armor. He is somebody that is hard to convince to try something tbh, he even admits that like with Final Fantasy that he completely dismissed it before he finally tried it. As much as I appreciate him in some ways, he can be really boring in other ways.
It's insane to me that Max still hasn't played World Tour. Not only would I imagine someone who's spent the last decade trying to get people into fighting games would be interested to see all of the things World Tour does to introduce fighting game elements to new players, but the amount of references not only to Street Fighter, but the greater Capcom library is absolutely massive.
I really want to see all the little character details in the World Tour. But I just can't resist the running around evading cardboard thngs and fighting random generic boring nobodies over and over and over and over and over and over... you get my point.
I can see Tekken 8 doing a whole DLC season revolving around the story. With the season pass you get the story expansion, and maybe like 3 characters who are from it. I just don’t wanna wait 8 years to see more of Tekken’s story bro

Sf6 was the only fighting game out of the big 3 where i did not buy the deluxe version. Specifically, i thought only 4 characters is weak and was only interested in Akuma. Dont get me wrong, not super thrilled with the t8 pass either, but it still seemed better than sf6.

The hardest difficulty on traditional SNK home ports is called MVS, named after the arcade machine itself. Arcade difficulty. That’s the difficulty setting we need to come back.
Yeah, but you're kinda off on that. Techincally, MVS difficuly is equal to Level 4 (usually the default) in the MVS arcade versions. So no, its not the hardest, there is the hard setting on the AES versions which would (depending on the game) have the difficulty scale between Levels 6-8. Though yeah, early and/or specific AES games only had the Easy/Normal/Hard/MVS difficulty choices, but later games/sequels (like KOF, and SamSho for example) have difficulty numbers from 1 through 8, just like the MVS arcade cabinet in its test menu settings.
I really liked World Tour mode because it had a greater emphasis on gameplay, I have never enjoyed a cinematic story mode in a fighting game (except T8) and always found them dull or hilariously stupid (but not enough to keep me entertained the whole way through). By putting the emphasis on the gameplay instead of the story I found myself playing it for a long time. I'm not a huge fan of story focused games anyway so world tour appealed to me in that way. They had the cool character moments especially with the "where are they now" novelty without resorting to a one and done mode. Hot Take time probably: Idk how other people feel about this next point but I genuinely have never seen a good story in any fighting game. The writing in Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Street Fighter, etc. has always been terrible. They all have really cool and fun lore but the actual stories don't have good writing. That said I mostly enjoyed Tekken 8's story because (even though the writing is inconsistent and wild 90% of the time) Jin and Kazuya's story is really entertaining. By trying to narrow the focus down to really just Jin, it made it way easier for me to get through. And that last fight is really satisfying. I do have to say that bad writing doesn't mean it isn't entertaining either

I hadn't played a tekken game since 5 on PS2 and I thought the story was awesome. It had pretty much everything a fighting game story mode can have while also not being too long or tedious. Even the multi-enemy big battle scene was really fun. I will say I did also really love World Tour in SF6 but to me that's not really comparable because it's like story mode and arcade quest combined. The Tekken 8 story by itself does nothing to teach you the game and expects you to know at least a little bit, whereas arcade quest works perfectly for people who have either never played or haven't played in 15 years.
If they were smart. They would make dlc to t8 that would make it txsf. After all the dlc tekken characters, and the game is loosing steam. Then toss in sf dlc to revitalize the game and essentially they have half the game made already. They have had and will have even more time to finish the sf characters. Of course this is a dream, but it's what i think is the smartest move they could make. It would be soooooooo epic.
Ngl I agree with Matt about Ed being more interesting than Rashid and A.K.I.. Boxer characters are cool and Ed finally hits the right notes I want for a boxer in SF (I'm not big into charge characters so I can't do Balrog, and Dudley I'm not fully clicking with due to being very stance heavy in a way I'm not into). Rashid I had fun but he has frustrating aspects like the lack of a good anti-air and A.K.I. might be my least favorite Year 1 DLC purely in terms of gameplay just because she's the one I click with the least atm (I have a better feeling abt Ed and Akuma's my 3S main so) Kinda disagree with Max with the DLC comment for SF6 cuz like I think the choices are solid choices and gameplay wise they've been super cool and make up for some of the snoozefest characters in base game (Jamie, Manon, Lily, Marisa too because of gameplay). I wouldn't mind if S2 characters had similar choices so long as that they have the ones I want (Seth, Poison, Sagat, Kazuya Mishima)
41:59 - What Max is asking for here is like a JRPG Bonus Boss, which fixes the same issue, which is Narrative Payoff and Technical Payoff don't always work well linked.
Ikr. I love playing Falke and bonked people with her staff lol. Her theme also really nice. Don't mind if Capcom bring her back again for SF 6 with some change here and there like they did with Ed.
World Tour was so grindy and boring, I love street fighter but world tour is not it. Who exactly thought a gang that wears cardboard boxes would appeal to any demographic? even kids know it's beyond corny
I love World Tour especially when i unlocked the Masters second costume and artworks while in the same time found out their lore / stories. It's fun to found out small tidbits like Chun Li bought clothes for Ryu (costume 3) / Ryu interacting with other people or join the festival, Cammy hanging out with Decapre in a cafe eating ice cream, etc. I say World Tour is one of the best addition that ever happened for SF and i hope they update it with new story / artworks.
I wish the actual gameplay of fighting game story modes was better. Just doing vanilla random select vs random select fight in between dumb cutscenes is really uninteresting. You don't know the character you're playing as so you just end up mashing. Tekken improves on this since you play as Jin most of the time and so you can learn to play him as you go, but there's huge room for improvement.
It'd be cool if there was a story that unfolded before you, but you got to choose who you wanted to play. It could be once at the beginning all the way to the end, or you get to switch at certain points throughout.
@Vivid114 IIRC some Dragon Ball Arena fighter did that like Shin Budokai 2 on the psp. That's not a genre that appeal to the FGC, but some ideas could be taken from it (in terms of format or content, not gameplay).
For the people wondering why we're getting a Triple KO episode today instead of Tuesday, it's because the episode was originally planned for this past Tuesday, but was delayed due to needing more editing time. Now it is here for your enjoyment!

Video game master craftsmanship, moments like those are absolutely legendary.
With Ghost battle feature in Tekken 8, Max will have an endless resource of materials to his Boss Fight series. You can fight Arslan ghost or Knee.
The developers need to send Matt the biggest thank you gift ever cause he is solely keeping Dinorex alive on this earth

I wouldn't mind if S2 characters had similar choices so long as that they have the ones I want (Seth, Poison, Sagat, Kazuya Mishima)
Nah
41:59 - What Max is asking for here is like a JRPG Bonus Boss, which fixes the same issue, which is Narrative Payoff and Technical Payoff don't always work well linked.
They finally acknowledged UNI2 lmao
...For a couple minutes
And it went about as well as you'd expect unfortunately.
"Good combo trial fighter" and "Under Births"...how sad.
Man, why you all hating on Falke? Have you no culture?! 😂
Ikr. I love playing Falke and bonked people with her staff lol. Her theme also really nice. Don't mind if Capcom bring her back again for SF 6 with some change here and there like they did with Ed.
Man, under night died so fast. It's depressing. It's such a good game, too.
It isn’t though
Ayo where my lovers of the turbulent wind at?!! I won't stand for the rashid slander lol

And these guys haven't even fought Parace L'sia in Arcana Heart 3. Half the time you can't even tell what the fuck she's doing.
Triple KO rocks!!! Super_Bomber_DX still has a long way to go 😂
did someone made an oopsie with the premier?
First baby
Nobody cares about MK1 that game is trash
World Tour was so grindy and boring, I love street fighter but world tour is not it. Who exactly thought a gang that wears cardboard boxes would appeal to any demographic? even kids know it's beyond corny
It was ok
It was good enough for an avatar story. It’s not grindy unless you want to level your avatar to 100 to flex on people in the hub.
I friggin love world tour.the lore they give characters and e,pairing classic sites in metro city is fun as hell
Crazy that there are people that actually enjoy tekken's story LUL
Watching leaks. T8 1st season will be even more garbage than Sf6 one lmao
