His enthusiasm for his gear is inspiring. I love phish's rig breakdown videos. All of the guys obviously love what they do and love.showing the capabilities of their gear. Ive.watched other gear breakdown videos and its always the tech showing off the gear. These guys are giddy to strut their stuff
I could listen to mike talk about his rig for days. Man. While much of what's developed has happened organically, his thought processes about his tone are inspirational.
Just saw the boys last weekend here in San Diego and was blown away by the volume and crystal clear sound coming from their systems. The show rocked much harder than when they last played here in 03', there are probably different reasons for that but regardless, it was an amazing show!
I always thought that dinging came from fishman. Good to know that comes from you mike. Just like that jibbo noise comes from trey when I could have sworn that was page playing his keyboard
"I love gadgets and to just experiment with different sounds" On that quote, I *still* am struggling to understand something I saw at the 8/25/93 Paramount Theater show. (Yeah, I know.. 21 years ago) For the encore "Bold as Love", Mike walked out with a tiny black what looked like electronic kit box and placed it on the floor. I dont think it was plugged into anything, but when the reprise comes in after the pause, he hit it with his foor and a bunch of LEDs lit up on the box. What the hell was it? Why did he hit it at that time in the song? What did it actually *DO*?? I dont know if I will ever figure this out.
Mike - Why so spongy under foot? To dampen the stage vibrations produced by your speakers? To ground you because you're running so much juice? General comfort? -Seriously Curious
sends and returns of the super-ego? i run the purple line 6 synth through it. am surprised there isn't more going on there. super ego can be doing a lot more. just surprised.
Been a Fan since the early 90's other bands tried to be experimental and odd Phish is the real deal, they influenced themselves instead by other bands.
"it's still duck quaking because the meatball is on" 😂😂😂
So many nonsense sentences in geartalk
i could listen to him talk about his bass rig all day. especially in that outfit, mike is killing it.
I bet you could
Hell yea lil jim!
them nike shox are destroying the game
The signals at the end were a treat, gives insight into just how much work goes on behind the scenes for the boys to make it possible.

One of my all time favorite bass players the guy can play anything anytime anyplace!

Experiencing the power of his bass in person is something you can't recreate
Man, I can only imagine all the processes going through his head as the concert goes along. So much to remember and program. Much respect
Stephen Edgerton hard to believe it that he did it when he was high as a kite
No to mention all those really complex and intricate composed musical pieces that he plays with no sheet music. It's crazy how genius he is.
