my ex passed away 2 months ago. this song reminds me of my favorite time with him. we were young I'm our late 30s helping our kids build sand castles. we got into a sand fight and chased each other into the ocean laughing. the entire Kamakawiwo'ole family has passed away; and so young.

+Harry Okahashi - Yes, John was such a Sweet and Gentle man. Always friendly to his fans, always had a smile, a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Cried when I heard he had passed.
I can't imagine anyone hearing this and not truly missing Iz and John. As you said, John had the most engaging smile. Just have to love these guys.

I know that words to this song by heart. Loved the Makaha Sons so much, saw them 26 times that I lived in Hawaii. So sad that John is no longer around, such a Sweet Soul he was.

My Wife told me that she's always wanted to visit but with my job as a Sheriff Deputy for Texas County Sheriff's Office it's hard to get time off especially since my boss (also a Sheriff) told me that Hawaii is not considered a Vacation Spot🤣
