I have a 470L in the box right now, thanks for showing me what it is capable of in the hands of a competent operator. You also demonstrated some very nice routines for me to aspire to as I work up my skills. Great job, thank you for sharing!
Awesome Flight, Jon. Just Sayin ! ! ! I'm a 70 year old guy and still have yet to do my 1st heli flip. I've gone from quadcopters ( drones ) to coaxial, to fixed pitch to now collective pitch helis ( 130S, 230S V2 and 330S and looking forward to the Blade Fusion 360 Smart 3S Version ) Anyway keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next video.
Jon, great video! I started flying R/C Helos in the early 1982 with a Schulter Mini-Boy. I was thinking of flying again and I think this Helo might be the one based on your review. Thanks for posting!
Jon, how about doing a video for us old analog pilots on setting up a "Microbeast" for the 470? My last real RC Helo flight was with my GMP Competitor.
I agree! This was our first Heli build that isn’t a bind and fly. We were just happy that everything was working correctly. We just didn’t have the experience to clean up and hide the cabling.
Your machine is flying so well without having to do any tuning! Do you know what "Control Style" you set for the Beastx, as in 'sport', 'pro', or 'extreme'?
Thanks! I see what you are talking about in the manual. But, honestly, we stopped programming the BeastX 5.2 at Menu Option M. After M, we rebooted the machine and did a test hover just to make sure all controls were working and the gyro was compensating correctly. Then, we took it to the field and flew it! We never went to the Parameter section to do any fine-tuning. So, whatever is the default Control Style, that is what we must be using!
@@JonsRC The default is "sport", so great to see it can do 3D even in sport settings. I’m putting a microBeast Plus Pro in a new Tron 5.8, so I’ll start with the default "sport", should be plenty responsive for me, I don’t do 3D yet.
Thank you for your great video. I am a beginner and I am considering buy one. Do you prefer the medal version to the plastic version? Are medal parts really necessary?
Thanks! For beginners, I don’t think so. We bought the metal version so we don’t have to upgrade later when my skills get better. When I start doing hardcore 3D, I will need the metal upgrades. Plus, I love the look of the metal head and tail!
Nice flying! I like that you're flying with the stock ESC and tail blades. A lot people on the Helifreak forums complain about the stock ESC, especially when using the governor. I was wondering if you're using throttle curves with a shallow "V", or if you're using the ESC's governor. I'm personally using a shallow "V" throttle curve. I have added an RPM sensor to my motor so that I could calculate my head speed. I could feed that to the FBL and use its governor, but since I'm mostly a forward flight with the occasional loop type of pilot, and the heli has been flying fine for me, I haven't bothered with any of that. Also, a lot of people recommend replacing the 69mm tail rotor blades with the 74mm. Your thoughts on that are appreciated as well. Do you know what your head speed is?
Hi, I am not using the ESC’s governor mode per the Align group’s recommendation on Facebook. I am using a shallow V per the instruction manual. With my style of flying and my skill level, she flies perfectly. So, I don’t see any reason to change anything mechanical. Maybe when I learn hardcore 3D flying, I will consider using a different ESC like Hobbywing and/or change the size of the tail blades. But, for now, she flies the way I need her to fly. I also have no idea what my RPMs are. Thanks!
@@JonsRC Thanks for taking the time to reply. You've really made a ton of progress in a short amount of time. You've inspired me to get back on the sim and get to work! Good luck with your channel. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Hi Jon I've just built this Heli, can you tell me what settings you have in your transmitter pls, and have you put in any gyro settings in there as well thanks. Mark
Truly awesome flying Jon, your control and skills are amazing . I know you practice on Realflight to hone your skills. How many hours do you practice a week? Your fan for life ....
Thanks! In the beginning I would practice on RF almost every night for about 20-30 mins each session. Now, I actually practice 3D flying using my smaller helis outside of my front yard everyday after school. Fortunately, I live at the end of a culdesac Then, on Friday night, I would practice on RF to prepare for my weekend flights.
hello beautiful flight, I also have 470 lm, can you tell me why while I was in flight the crown moved very little away from the engine pinion, so the engine idled causing my helicopter to fall
Wow you young guys progress so fast. Hey have you checked your TH-cam analytics? Are people watching your whole video? Maybe cut it out into several videos and set for schedule to publish one per day. Multiple videos per day usually are not good in my experience.
Maiden Flight: 01:44
Flight 2 06:11
Flight 3: 10:24
Discussion: 14:25

Thank you! It helps to have a super stable heli when performing intermediate maneuvers!

Thank you! The Fusion 360 Smart 3S is my favorite Blade heli! She is powerful but not so intimidating to beginners!
Good on you mate. Don’t give up! Cp helis can test you to the core. But you are on a great path with those Blade selections. Great helis
V nice flight 🚁 John!!
Thanks!
Good job little dude!
Thanks!
You Dominated the Dominator. You will be back
LOL! I wasn’t kidding when I said this T-Rex 470 although it looks intimidating is actually very beginner friendly!
You fly very well! Gee wee!
Thank you!
Nice, smooth flying! I actually prefer your sport flying style over the hard stick banging.
Thank you! I’m actually trying to up my game on the hard stick 3D and then combine it with my sports flying style!
Really nice smooth flying. You are getting good fast. Keep it up dude.
Thanks!

Thank you! I love my T-Rex 470! She is my go-to Heli for all types of flying!
Any goblin helicopters coming to your channel anytime soon Jon, and great flying
Thanks! Yes! I am saving up for a Goblin Kraken 580! Im almost there!
I see you been putting in a lot of practice! Looking good, that 470lm is a sweet machine! 🤙
Thanks! 30 minutes on the sim, three times a week then fly for real on the weekends!

great bird and flying style - would love a 3S conversion with the align mx460 3000kv motor and a 12t pinion gear...
Thanks! I was also expecting the 470 to be a 3S. But it doesn’t look like 450/470 has 3s model anymore.
@@JonsRC I would do a conversion myself, parts should be there.
How mutch tail pitch are you running?
Great flying, however that wiring could be tidier.

I’m sold on making this my step back into 3D after some time off.
This is definitely an awesome machine to restart your 3D flying!

very nice video
Hello Jon how are ? I'm Fouad from morroco i have somes questions about T-Rex 470 lm and lp
What are those popping sounds that we keep hearing in your videos? It sounds like fireworks not gonna lie.
You’re very close. Our flying field is right next to a rifle range.

He can afford it cuz his dads rich...😜
Come on don't do this
Trex 470 servo horns ball link on inside is the dumbest idea ever.they bind on swash movement. Garbage
