It's funny that 7 years ago i had rockstar on an absolute pedestal with no other company being able go to get even closer, while nowadays they're just another company that makes great games but in the end are moved by greed.
The game clearly out grew them, would be interesting to see an alternate reality where the game did not blow up like it did showing what they would have done.
Back in 2015 i once had a convo with a guy whom i was fighting against about why he was buying shark cards and I laughed at him. He seemed pretty proud that he was spending $100s of his hard earned money on items you cannot forever keep lol.

My biggest regret is that I bought a shark card at 2:00 in the morning when everything sounded like a good idea. Not even a church confession could absolve that sin.
If you have friends, it's faster. Most of the time I just AFK Bunker, Coke, Weed, Meth, etc. Got more than 50 million by that method itself. Upgrade all your business and Buy Supplies. Then install GTA 5 in your non-gaming PC/Laptop. Run a AutoHotKey AFK Script in that Laptop. Wait for Businesses to Max. During that time play other games on your Gaming PC. Sell the Business in your Gaming PC when the stock is full. That's what I did
I'm not even surprised if they decided to add that. I mean, I like Transformers so it would be kinda cool i guess..but knowing them they would find a way to make sure it's ruined and unbalanced lmao
The irony that the game named after stealing cars, doesnt actually really let you steal cars, and you have to buy the good ones to be able to keep them
GTA Online obeys all rules of previous GTA games? Steal cars, mod, and store them. If they get blown up, they're gone. The same goes for weapons; If you die or get busted, you lose them. The same rules apply to GTAO; They just added a way to keep your loot at great expense.
One of the saddest things is that the most expensive shark cards will only give 8 million and that's not even enough to buy the most expensive things in the game
Yeah if you actually play the fucking game you can get a submarine and make your money back over and over. But no let’s sit and cry about not having it handed to us
Gotta love how Rockstar cares about Shark Card sales so much that they would make the grind harder, and the pay lower but don't care enough to improve their anti cheat against mod menus that give people money and affect Shark Card sales.
Modders make up around 10-20% of the active player base on PC, this is not an exaggeration, when I had a paid mod board I was able to see other modders and in a given lobby there were at least 2 or 3 other modders

My thoughts exacly. The game is literally about making a big elaborate heist, telling them "so long suckers!" and then living the good life the easy way. You're supposed to live in a fantasy scenario where you are never identified, never caught and get way too much money on your hands. More than you could ever spend in a lifetime. Instead it is as grindy as real life. A constant struggle to grind and never be short on funds often working for many many hours to buy one simple thing at a time. So much for the "escape medium".
I tried playing on a fresh account recently, as soon as I got into a mission everyone was using the flying motorbike thing and I’m using a car I just stole. Fair to say the mission was over in about 5 mins and I had no part to play in it whatsoever

To think, Rockstar ended being the same thing they have mocked for years, a greedy game company whose finances are fueled by microtransactions and not actually making games.
@ナノ人 its funny because the game is rated mature and not for 10 year olds, but rockstar has marketed it to them over the years so you have a point, rockstar marketed it to 10 year olds so why have something useful that they know wont be understood by their target audience. And plus rockstar just wants us to grind and buy shark cards so why have anything actually useful at all
Yeah it was active for a while, but Rockstar threw a fucking pissy fit like bitches because people were shooting down planes at the airport, then dumping their cash into the stocks, then waiting a few hours and selling their stocks for 2, 3, or even 4x what they put into it.

Exactly. The game has everything it takes to be a fun game, and they force it not to be for greed. They can go screw themselves, I wanna play around with the scramjet and MK1 oppressor, but not waste a second of my time on Take2s community service of a game. If I saw Strauss Zelnick I’d show him a video of me doing 15mil heists for hundreds of people and put him in a cage when that sends him into a money hungry tantrum wanting justice that someone had enjoyment out of the game without wasting anymore than its initial cost.

My man, same. I recently started playing again after not playing it for like a year and a half, only because with the release of Tuners, came an insanely easy glitch to duplicate, wich allowed me to buy some new cars and actually enjoy the game for a while
Played online after finishing the campaign on console. Was fun then. Fast forward to owning it on pc first lobby hackers instantly killing everyone, second more hackers, third was okay. Start a heist almost finish a player disconnects. I said fuck it. Try again years later its so much worse... of and for a game about car and such why the fuck is making money such a grind. A common car costs 1 mil to purchase.. fuck it ill mod. So i do but I only do it so i can play online in a solo player fashion. Get my money, do my missions, and dont fuck with others. If these missions were available in solo play i would love this game even more.
What about the actual gunfight scene fighting PVP been getting a crew together to be the biggest boss against other groups? That's also a pretty big component of the game you don't like that part
It's ridiculous how many modders are still out there.. Meanwhile, couple years ago, I used Scripthook to fool around in Singleplayer. With files that literally only work in Singleplayer. Left them in the GTA V folder, tried joining online, got a error, quit the game, removed the files, played GTA Online normally. Then a day later, I get a mail from R* saying they noticed some illegal activity, banned me and completely wiped my character. Everything I've ever got, bought and every Mission and Heist I made since 2013 on PS3 was just gone. Haven't touched GTA Online since. But the worst part is, that every time I launch GTA V Singleplayer and change my character, my GTA Online character from back in the day is still there even though he's gone. :( The grind in this game and garbage anti-cheat is such a clusterfuck.
I’ve read about this and I do some car videos in GTA where I have modded and realistic car models. I strictly use offline mode with it and have to change the installation folder to my backup gta every time I want to play online or else my account is getting banned too. They are just insane for doing this and make it so hard to have fun in their game.
tbh that's kinda on you for leaving modded files in the base version of the game and then trying to join online, when the recommended safe practice is to have a backup of the unmodded gta there to swap out with to play online.
I personally use cracked version of GTA V to have mods, no updates means that mods will not break over time and it's impossible to accidently join Online so my account is never at risk of reseting or banning
@itsjaroo I think it is much safer to buy already modded account, some mod menus can be easily detected and next day you will see your account banned, i've also heard a rumor that some modded accounts are even sold by Rockstar himself but with that i'm not sure, but still these accounts have years and still no warns resets or bans on them
GTA is one of those games where I feel good about myself glitching money. I have essentially stolen £500 worth of in game money off of Rockstar and I will keep doing it
I think the social experiment was being conducted in 2015 with the Ill gotten gains part 2 when they first overpriced vehicles to see if players would fall into the trap. At this point, they're making money based on the assumptions of that experiment
Funnily enough, the people who have enough time to grind that much probably only have that much time because they're lazy and don't have active lives and jobs 😂
These are the worst types of gamers. Fully brainwashed by the manipulative psychology mechanics and unable to imagine what a normal human life looks like anymore. Makes it that much harder to advocate for a return to sensible gameplay expectations with these vocal apologists around.
Inflation is pretty normal in long-running online games, i mean look at World of Warcraft. But Rockstar have taken it to a new level with that pay-to-win crap.
I remember before that The most expensive car was the adder but everybody had a zentorno and the most expensive appart was at 500,000$ No heist, only missions and races and kinda boring activities Good old days no?

I simply disagree with the fact that combat wombat said in the video that why buy cars in a game called GTA. Well, buying cars is only an option, not a requirement. Also if Ur not gonna spend Ur money on cars, what r u supposed to do with money anyway in the game? That makes money entirely useless in the game. We can just rob cars, steal clothes, kill the owners and snatch their arcade, bunker, facility or whatever from them. Then what is the point of having money in the game if u can just rob everything? But since money is an option to us, we can earn it and then spend it anywhere from clothes to bunkers. Honestly just think, if money wasn't in the game, u would feel entirely awkward that u can do anything u want in the game. Just point a gun at the shop owner and bam, u get anything u want. So my point is just that buying stuff in the game is only an option in the game, not a requirement. Also, robbing is also an option in the game, not a requirement. If we had to follow only one of the two options, then the game would be no fun at all. So, I'm saying for the third time that money is only an OPTION, not a REQUIREMENT. There response to a question on the QnA Newswire is ridiculous too. “What is the point of Shark Cards, apart from to make you greedy bastards lots of money?” - Tim (via Mouthoff) “The reason we included optional in-game currency in Grand Theft Auto Online, rather than directly selling DLC, was because it was the only way that we could distribute DLC without dividing the player base each time we brought out a new content pack, which would destroy the online community very quickly by splitting players up. Thanks to Shark Cards, we have been able to give away every piece of DLC so far for free in order to keep the community whole and give people options as to whether they want to earn new content by playing the game, buy new content with Shark Cards or simply don’t get new content and still keep playing the game.”
I do actually agree with that sentiment but at the same time they didn't have to completely stop single player DLC, and could have made Online its own thing instead of attaching it to GTA 5.

“What is the point of Shark Cards, apart from to make you greedy bastards lots of money?” - Tim (via Mouthoff)
“The reason we included optional in-game currency in Grand Theft Auto Online, rather than directly selling DLC, was because it was the only way that we could distribute DLC without dividing the player base each time we brought out a new content pack, which would destroy the online community very quickly by splitting players up.
That would allow for single player only DLC to be added to GTA 5 without affecting Online and they could have made even more money by creating more DLC
Tl;de "equality for all, profitability is a must"
