    I think this is the only channel where I can truly sit for half an hour for a nice car review. The van looks great but at 80k a pop that gets into the MB V-class money. Gladly grab a gently used second hand one for sure.

    I actually prefer the analog instrument cluster. I don't care for the new electronic LCD screens. Even in my car, I darken the screen and just drive it with the tach and speedometer. Less is more.
    This car makes me think of a high dollar camp van. One you'd take down to the lake or the beach with everyone.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Great video Thomas, many thanks. I can confirm with Thomas that those front seat "captain's chairs" on the T5 are SO comfy for some reason. And the driving position - and ride - is really good, especially on long runs. I liked the V-Class but didn't find it so comfortable. £80k for a T6?!!! Keep up the good work Thomas.

      VW have their own seat company called Sitech (Sitz Techologie) where they try to achieve foam values which the industry considers impossible, like a hysteresis value of 19.
      They also build seats and equip VW cars along Lear, Johnson Control etc. which other German car makers lack.
      Also VW invested heavily into a unique glass laboratory to improve the visual quality and have a better tension-compression value which later ACG, Pilkington etc. can implement in serial production.

    Great review, a few things that I like about the T6 Multivan are the special two-tone colour scheme, the seating arrangement as well as the cabin practicality with the twin gloveboxes and the drinks tray under the gear lever.

    Had a brand new well-specced T6 Multivan as a rental in Spain recently. The thing only had delivery mileage on it! Lovely van, but the prices are just ridiculous for what you get. It is a van. It drives a lot like a van. A nice van, sure, but still a van. The one we had would cost £50k in the UK because it seems everything is a cost option with VW. Silly money.

    Another very good video review Thomas. But some of my mates are complaining that you seem to focus lately, a lot, on doing videos presenting VW umbrella vehicles. This isn't true, is it? For instance, I was expecting to see you work on presenting BMW's new X3 which is a significant introduction in the fastest growing and one of the most competitive car segments in the global motor industry. But you weren't there. Left many people, including myself, pondering. Do clarify if you will, please.

    9:50 I love the German language. I want to learn it and move to Germany. I like the way the Germans speak and do things. Cars usually represent their countries and Germany makes the best cars so Germany is the best.

      Yeah, good luck with learning German, living in Switzerland, German is taught for 10+ years and we can barely present ourselves lol. We're not the exception though, it's harder for French/English speaking people to learn German.

    • @SDav21
      @SDav21 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Simon Vuille I found it quite easy to learn a few stuff using duo lingo. In South Africa some people also speak Afrikaans which is similar to Dutch and on some occasions I can make out what a German word means. Still, I would love to learn it.

    Great review as always thanks! It's 80000 with dashboard hard plastics (the only soft plastics are on top doors-1mm and knee level) & crackling handles! It doesn't crackle when driving though, uff! Not enough luxury for family/passenger van! Poor quality.

    Is it better than the v-class ? I don't think so

    • @fireboarder112
      @fireboarder112 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicht unbedingt besser. Aber deutlich praktischer! In der V Klasse gibt es zum Beispiel keinen vom Fahrer erreichbaren Becherhalter (nur neben deinem linken Fuß in der Ablage am Boden) und keine Ablage für das Telefon. Außerdem kann man in der V-Klasse keine Fahrgast-Rollos und kein CarPlay kaufen, egal wie viel man ausgeben möchte... Außerdem ist in der V-Klasse bei den höherwertigeren Ausstattungen kein Kunststoffboden erhältlich, das war mir wegen Hunden und Kindern wichtig! Bei VW kann man sogar zwischen verschiedenen Designs wählen: Teppich, Kunststoff schwarz (ohne Aufpreis), Kunststoff in Holzoptik oder echtes Alu-Riffelblech (ca. €350 Aufpreis) und sogar echtem Holz!
      Bei besser ausgestatteten Modell ergibt sich eine Preisdifferenz von etwa 10.000 €. Einen Generation Six mit €70.000 Listenpreis bekommt man für ca. 58.000€ beim Händler. Eine vergleichbar ausgestattet V-Klasse Avantgarde Edition kostet etwa 68.000€, keine Prozente aushandelbar, da der Rabatt "schon in den Avantgarde-Paketen enthalten" ist... (ja, laut Liste ist der Mercedes günstiger, beim Händler korrigiert sich das aber wieder)
      Bei der V-Klasse gibt es Extras die VW nicht anbieten kann, das muss man fairerweise erwähnen: 360°-Kamera zum Einparken und KLEINER Spurhalte-Assistent (rüttelt nur am Lenkrad, hilft aber nicht beim Spur halten).

    better than a V-class?

    • @jaikee9477
      @jaikee9477 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've driven both. It's a Merc so it drives flawlessly, but in my mind the T6 has a better seating position and it feel like the better more practical every day car. I would pick the "Bulli".

    • @efepiano
      @efepiano 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Jaikee!! I´ve only driven the V-class for work reasons, and of course rear wheel drive offers nice driving experience but I was a little bit concerned about rear seats space... I would like to drive the T6 to compare handling and practicity.

    • @fireboarder112
      @fireboarder112 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've tried both.
      The Mercedes feels a little bit more like a car when driving. But Mercedes offers ZERO discount (in Germany), so the VW comes about 10.000€ cheaper with the same options chosen...
      Most importantly for me: there is NO storage in the V-Class the driver can reach comfortably! No place for the phone, no place for the keys, no cooled (isn't mentioned in the Video) bottle holder, the cup holder is next to your left foot.
      In the back of the Mercedes the cup holders aren't included, you can order them as an extra, than they are uglyly mounted next to the third row...
      Not to mention: NO CarPlay in the V-Class, no Window-Shades in the V-Class, no NOT-Carpet-Option in the V-Class (for people with dogs and kids).

    • @gordonbennett6057
      @gordonbennett6057 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi kamata - by the 2.5 TDI R5, do you mean the original 2003-2009 Transporter T5, all alloy, ohc 5-cly? Available in 131 & 174 ps? Attached to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor auto-trans. This was a modular engine, and was effectively the first V10 Touareg turbo-diesel engine cut in half. It was interesting as everything was gear-driven - the camshaft, water pump, alternator, a/c compressor. It was a great engine, but a gruff old thing, and production stopped in 2009. Or do you mean the engine they put in the Crafter? (Or the old Audi TDI?!) Cheers.

    • @kamata93
      @kamata93 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Surprised by the decision to use the Bulli name - it has very negative connotations in English.

      This dates back some decennia before English made its way into the German daily use.
      More concerned about Touareg who turned out to be weapon smugglers :P

      Haha - yes I had forgotten about Touareg, good point. History is littered with this type of faux pas among car makers. My favourite is Rolls Royce decision to name the successor to the Silver Cloud as Silver Mist. It was then pointed out that Mist in German did not align with the companies values and it was quickly replaced with Shadow :)

    98k in NZ, would love one for the family but way too expensive, plus VW poor service and reliability backed by a rubbish basic 3 year warranty when almost all other manufacturers are offering 5 years plus extras.
