    Thanks, my tree is old, 2 stories tall and has a very wide trunk. I needed to verify I can cut it down to shorter than 4 feet and you’ve answered that question 😊

    You should dry and powder some of the extra moringa leaves. We use that in our smoothies also. You can store alot more dried powder in mason jars, than the leaves in the freezer. We add the powder to our dogs food so they can benefit from it as well.

    What an incredible tree! Will it grow in the UK - I will try. Worth it for biomass alone. Thank you - very useful.

      Probably won’t grow in the UK. Unless maybe you start a cutting each fall and keep it inside over the winter and plant it in the spring…? It is a tropical/subtropical plant. Thanks for watching!

      I've got some seeds and I was planning on doing that - Yorkshire is not exactly tropical😂😂😂!

    I just grew it in small pots so I could bring them in for winter. I snack on the leaves all day long. Soon I will be moving to Florida where I plan to grow this stuff all over in areas no one tends to. See if I can get it to just naturally grow on its own. I will also have it on my own property. It's the perfect grazing tree. Doesn't taste good enough for people to raid it but tastes good enough to snack on when on a nature walk.

    have you considered dehydrating the leaves?

    • @ajourneysustainable913
      @ajourneysustainable913  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes we have done that before and made powder. Just more work than throwing it in the freezer….

    You should dry your leaves, use them in smoothies, put powder in capsules, all those branches can be stuck in the ground and you have enough tree material there to make 50 trees give them to neighbors, I’ve never seen anyone freeze leaves, that takes too much space, you might just have mush when you thaw the leaves. I have 9 trees you can cut the branches and pile them up for a couple months a d stick them in the ground and they will come back. Good luck

    What is your rationale for freezing your leaves? I hang harvested branches, and strip dried leaves off to save in plastic bags.

    • @ajourneysustainable913
      @ajourneysustainable913  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We mostly use the leaves for smoothies, so having them cold makes for a colder smoothie. Plus freezing right after harvest helps lock in the minerals before they start breaking down

    Thanks your video and sharing! I would like growing mornings tree in Globe Arizona (our back yard). I don’t want to buy from Amazon, because too much seeds for me. Could you please share some seeds for me? I am appreciate it and thanks again!

      You are welcome, I am glad you liked it. I have moved and don’t have a moringa tree any longer or seeds. I have to start all over and go buy another tree or seeds when I have a spot to plant one.

    Did you plant any of the branches? They will grow even more trees.

    • @ajourneysustainable913
      @ajourneysustainable913  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not. I like growing them from seed. With the smaller yard I only had one moringa tree since it was enough to supply my family's needs and we wanted space for more variety of trees.

    Do you make tea with it also? I dry the leaves and put in blender to make powder then make a pot of tea, put in fridge and have a glass with meals. Am always looking for new ideas for the moringa.

    • @ajourneysustainable913
      @ajourneysustainable913  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have made the powder before, but not tea. We just used the powder in our smoothies, so I figured why go through all that work when we can just put the whole leaves in the smoothies. Thanks for watching.

    Gopher chopped my 1st moringa down, the roots, soft and spongy right to the trunk, easy munching for gophers it appears. I'll use gopher basket next time or otherwise protect the roots.
