Get rid of torpedograss

From the bottom of my heart I am so sorry for anyone that has to deal with torpedograss in their lawn or landscape beds. I have been dealing with this mess since I moved into this house and it has caused me great heartache to the point I have even considered giving up on the garden. There maybe other ways at eradicating torpedograss, but this is what I have found to be the most effective. I eve...

Disappointing to say the least. Unfortunately the torpedo grass I have in my yard was from Mississippi River spillway sand. I didn't know that's where torpedo grass grew. The LSU agcenter indicated that this has been around our area since the late 80s. I'm just surprised in the 30 plus years there isn't a herbicide that kills it to eradicate it

I'm dumbfounded at how stupid a lot of human beings are. Of course it will lift out of the ground with the hitch point higher than the cutter! Didn't they teach basic geometry at school in your day? I'm making a sled with an electric winch on it along with 12v car battery, the cutter underneath angled to pull down slightly, the anchor point for the winch wire at ground level. I know it will work long before I actually make it!

I just found this in my lawn. I'm thinking about pulling some runner but not breaking it off. Then I want to curl it up to insert into a plastic bag and treat it with Roundup and seal the bag to prevent from leaking. The idea being to only treat the torpedo but not the good grass hopefully killing the roots.

Thanks for this video. I moved into a home in Florida in October of 2022 and have been in a constant battle trying to eradicate this crap. I'm glad I know I'm not alone in my quest to do this and while it appears tough, you have given me hope to keep fighting. My neighbors must think I'm nuts though. You should dry your leaves, use them in smoothies, put powder in capsules, all those branches can be stuck in the ground and you have enough tree material there to make 50 trees give them to neighbors, I’ve never seen anyone freeze leaves, that takes too much space, you might just have mush when you thaw the leaves. I have 9 trees you can cut the branches and pile them up for a couple months a d stick them in the ground and they will come back. Good luck

Soon I will be moving to Florida where I plan to grow this stuff all over in areas no one tends to. See if I can get it to just naturally grow on its own. I will also have it on my own property. Torpedo works with runners. It will eventually fill in a lawn. But just tends to compete with whatever else is growing there. Very drought tolerant, but prefers wet. It will even grow in standing water like on edges of ponds.
