I painted my former house black in Utah (desert, hot summer). I lived with it for a few years. Here’s my experience. It didn't really make it any hotter. People thought I was crazy, that the aluminum siding would get hot- the exterior didn’t even really get hotter to the touch. I later renovated a rv/trailer and painted it black too. It’s temperature was fine too. Black exterior does show dirt. Every bird poop, every sap drip. Even rain is dirtier that you think. I went from never power washing my exterior, to doing it a few times a year. And black paint fades fast. I bought premium products and did all the correct prep work, but dark exterior paint fades. It wasn’t noticable to the naked eye, but if I needed to touch up the paint, I’d end up painting at least that whole side of the house again. The touch ups were VERY noticable and the faded shade was difficult to match. Part of that difficultly of matching the faded paint comes from it fading inconstantly- one side of a structure might get full sun, one spot might be hidden by a big tree at high noon, one side might be in full shade all day. My advice to anyone considering painting their house black. Do it! Its lovely! But if you want it to stay nice, tidy, vibrant, and not have to pay a crew to wash and touch it up, try it on 1 story structures or just on the lowest level of your house and then go with a different color scheme to address the rest. If you can’t be on a ladder, go even smaller. Go with just exterior painting doors or maybe try a dark deck. Black exteriors are great, but if you want it to stay nice long term, its most cost effective to keep it within reach. Hope this helps!

The Benjamin Moore paint has more of a blue tint to it and the Sherwin Williams paint has more of a green tint to it. I think I like the Benjamin Moore the best! I also think that stain looks great on the cain for the shelves! I hope whoever is sick is feeling better soon. I'm praying for her! 🥰

Love the idea of the black/not black, but of course it's your cabin so if you want to paint stripes in psychedelic colors, go 'head on. (Horizontal or vertical? Flip a coin or do half and half.)

Such a cozy, beautiful school room. I like the exterior color idea that your wanting. I’m a fan of those dark greyish/black colors. My husband & I are almost ready to move into our new home...we had it custom built. I’ve done my kitchen cabinets, laundry room cabinets, my oldest son’s bathroom, all of our interior doors, the fireplace, & our library/school room dark greyish/black. I am SO happy with how it looks! If you haven’t changed your mind after thinking about it for awhile, just go for it!!

Praying your child recovers completely! AND love the idea of dark gray for the cabin with dark wood trim? I think that is what you said.... ANYWAY., it looks good. I always wanted a dark gray door on my house, BUT because of the afternoon sun, I would have to paint it each year.... so that is a pass on that.... Our house is light gray with white trim, with a rod iron fencing in the front. Even a brown door would have to be repainted yearly.......
Yay! I am a fan of the Iron Ore color by SW. We just repainted the laundry room and I touched up our already black shelving with that color for a softer look. Love it. It was a fantastic choice for us.

I love the stain color Early American. It’s my go- to! Also, I really enjoy seeing what you realistically get done when things don’t go as planned. You can’t get everything done in one day, but you can do a little bit!

Oh my goodness, Angela, this is so funny. I've been wanting to get on top of our finances for a while now and just signed up for Trubill. I already love it! But my jaw dropped when I discovered a monthly subscription I didn't even know about! Ironically...it's Cricut. :) My daughter got a Cricut Joy for Christmas and we've paying $10.72/month for something she hasn't used for months. Ugh. I think I'm going to start using it! Love your channel! Can you do a daily type ideal schedule. I always feel guilty when I have to get things done and I only have 3 kids. How do you "fill their cup" & be semi hands off. I block schedule items as well and it just is a sense of overwhelm when I get to my list.

That might look more organic with the copper gutters. You had first said (special walnut) for a stain color...I believe. That is America's favorite stain color, so I've heard. Love these videos.

Top color looks like it has a blue tint and the other has a little greenish tint but colors aren’t always as they are on TH-cam as in reality! You will choose a great color!

Have you thought about staining the cabin instead of painting? It will last longer and won't fade as quickly. Stain comes in so many colors.
