Roll is back! Performance mode did me a solid, and the new update looks pretty cool. There is a new strategy I want to try using one of the new items... stay tuned!

4:39 Passive Hunter is probably the most essential for this kind of strat to get past the quadrillion range imo. Most of the abilities you want to buy like yahtzee bonuses and other percentage increases are passives anyway, and are locked behind points and RNG. Getting that early will save you the trouble of having to purchase shop refreshes and provide easier access to those necessary passives you want, and thus catapulting your score :p

Passive hunter is a life saver, and one strat I've found great to kinda exploit getting those free rerolls is buying passives that won't even affect what I'm doing just to get two free rerolls because at a certain point buying the reroll is more expensive than just buying a worthless passive (or waiting for the free rerolls from waiting)
@@TechDude351 this also has the benefit of removing that passive from the pool making it more likely to find passives you actually want (I do this a lot :))
I have an idea for a new gamemode: reverse mode
So you have unlimited rolls, see how much rolls you need to reach 1 quadrillion. The least rolls the better. Leaderboard shows the player with the least rolls

Loving it man, I have another suggestion if you are open to them you are probably absolutely flooded with ideas rn but a greyscale theme to this game would be really relaxing, I play it late and the white is really straining :) keep it up man

I've been playing this for a little while, and kinda struggled to get big numbers; but I just followed this strategy and scored 41.8 trillion. Excellent idea of the all 5's, Tyler
Im pretty sure he got this idea off of somebody else, but there is a chance he found it alone too
Did the same without even fully watching the video and got e+16 or whatever, crazy numbers. got 103rd on leaderboard, just shy of appearing on it
Roll is a game that I cannot describe what attracts me so much to it, but all I know is that I absolutely love it

I have been experimenting with new game modes.. I just have to find the right fit!
An endless mode sounds very fun, I’d love to see what kind of silly math can be had beyond what there is already

@@xraidev Just out of programming curiosity, how did you implement the no score cap feature? Did you simply use double precision floating points (which technically still has a limit), did you do a fixed point system with one integer for highest digits and one for exponent (which might aswell be considered limitless, but sounds like it complicated the maths, but the look of the scoreboard points to this method), or did you go for an actually limitless, list based integer representation (those are rather complicated, but there might be libraries for them, at least Java has one, but they don't lose precision when scaling to big numbers, or did you go for an entirely different approach that I couldn't think of?
This is the content I have been waiting for. Such a simple game but by far my favourite game you play at the moment.

Ngl, I'm loving these videos much more than luck be a landlord mainly because the video shows the entire run unlike luck be a landlord where he often abruptly ends the video in the middle of a run.
I agree, but it's so hard to see what's happening in this game, it's very easy to miss why you're suddenly doing 100x better. LbaL was excellent for explicitly showing every calculation, So you know where every big number comes from.
This truly is the spiritual successor to luck be a landlord :)

The most difficult part is shop optimisation, because prices go up depending on your previous accumulated maximum. Keep in mind that after buying expensive upgrade, all upgrades will have similar price, therefore it is worth getting other upgrades in same shop as well, as they are very cheap compared to next roll.
Also cheaper upgrades can help to reach expensive upgrade (for example copy all numeric faces before yahtzee)

I've got a new idea. Leave the "less than 6 dice" multiplier for 3 and 4 dice to get run multipliers (or doubles/triples) and perfect square multiplier.
When this game was released I got into top 100 with a score of under 1 million, now my scores aren’t even top 1,000.

You math was a bit off by the way. It wasn't 1300% you would miss out on, it was 1000% (x11) + 300%(x4), so a x44 bonus.
And "add half die quantity" to 5 5s, is a +40% increase.
I got the 75th place on the leaderboard using the same strategy, but with 11s. Not sure which is better - could be the 5s.

I loved when the new update came out, I'm guessing I must have played right around when it dropped because my first game I got 80 trillion doing a similar strat (instead of 5s I got all dice to be 99) and I was at 10th on the board, played a few days later and I dropped to 127, now I don't even wanna know how far I've fallen with these madlads going into scientific notation.
Edit after playing a round with the all 5s strat:
Ummm, yeah so this shit works, like very well, I had a rough start to the point that by the time I was hardly getting 2k a roll by 750, but a lovely bunch of passives later, and by roll 350 it became almost 100 trillion a roll. And uh I ended up with 11.8 quadrillion, I'm in the scientific notation club.... Which now only lands me at 125 on the board but damn

There is an option for a darker background in the game settings!
I think keeping the void near the end would have been the better choice, because of the following:
First, take the average value rolled given that all dice are all 5s, call it d.
When you a void face, you get 6d per roll 5/6 of the time. The other 1/6, you lose out on many bonuses, so it's difficult to say how much you get. All we know is that you get > 0d.
Thus, on average per roll, you get
[void value] > 6*5/6 d + 0*1/6 d
[void value] > 5d.
When you don't have a void face, you get 5d 6/6 times. Thus,
[voidless value] = 5d.
[void value] > 5d = [voidless value]
[void value] > [voidless value].
I did this math in about half a minute upon reaching that point of the video, so I may have got something wrong.
I think Roll makes us realize math can actually be fun when presented in the right way haha
I was thinking the same but now I'm curious is doubling the non void roll would cancel out Yahtzee bonus or something because it would be a ten right?

@@xraidev I know, right? It’s so insane that the highest score makes mine look like an atom compared to a planet.
Edit: just did some quick googling. Earth is in the neighborhood of 10^21 cubic meters. My high score is 4 trillion, or 4x10^12. That means the highest score is 18 orders of magnitude bigger than me, or, for an earth-based example, the same difference of magnitude as between a 1000 cubic meter volume (the largest aquarium tank is 48,000 cubic meters) relative to the whole earth!

That last reroll bonus passive would have been worth an extra 33% on every spent roll... he got 14T after that, so that would have been ~4.66T, and the passive cost 3T, so it would have given him about 1.5T more.

You could’ve bought weights for your glued faces! Once you bought that extra reroll passive, the no-weights reroll was useless. You could’ve kept the light weight and bought heavy weights for your multiplied faces.

I'm not sure that's how it works, but I think going for the free rerolls was a mistake. It was taking you like 3-4 rolls per reroll. But once you did the 33+ rolls, you accumulated a lot of money, and everything became VERY expensive. Before doing that, you had to roll one or two times to buy something. After that, it was like 10 times
It likes to scale the cost based on how fast you're making money and the number of rerolls you've done. The most important factor seems to be how quickly you make bank.
Or maybe it's based on how close to the end you are too. Either way, i doubt it was just due to extra rerolls that things got so pricey
@@shirothefish9688 I dont think it's the extra rerolls, I think it's the fact that he rolled 30+ times and accumulated so much money. Going for the free reroll cost him so so so much more than if he just paid for it

9:50 you killed me man! the "rerolls do not stack with other rerolls" means that rerolls from one passive/die face do not trigger more rerolls, but if you have say 3 rerolls from a die face and 2 rerolls from a passive effect you do get 5 total, as far as i'm aware. you just can't stack if a rerolled die lands on a reroll face, i believe
